If I may make one suggestion...burn the cut end of the zip ties with a lighter to remove the sharp corners created by the snips. It only a comfort suggestion. Thanks, I'll be making this one myself.

I made mine from 125mm dia, and 20mm pipe for handle. I used VB cord to wrap the handle so no zip ties to stick in your hand. Plus i did a print from the computer to set the pattern for the holes, they are 3mm and 4.5mm. Dam, that was a lot of drilling. No metal in it so you can scan it too. Great minds think alike. Thanks for sharing.

@NEIL HAY where did you find the print pattern

@@irvingolivissr.3172 i measured the area then marked them out in a program and printed it. then you just tape the paper to the PVC and drill at each spot. You can vary the holes sizes and spacing etc. makes it easy.

@@irvingolivissr.3172 I measured the PVC, then marked out the holes in publisher. So they were all neatly spaced. Then you print it out and tape the paper to the area to be drilled. very easy, you can also vary the size and spacing to suit as well.

Great scoop -very neat should have put the cable ties through the other way to maintain neatness. 5/5

I was thinking the same, put them on the inside. It was a really neat and tidy job apart from the ties.

I would put a peice metal on the bottom of the front end. So you can dig in the dirt with it

You could use CA glue for the handle instead of zip ties. It wis great glue for PVC..Check out my beach scoop I made. Great work boss.

Careful with the hole driller when it catches the plastic. I needed 7 stitches..

Nice, however...I think I would had put one stainless steel bolt with nut at the top, and one at the bottom....have the flat head on the outside with the nut on the inside....Just my $0.02 worth....Good Job!

There is an advantage to doing it without screws. I scoop up a pipe full of sand and it takes a minute or two of shaking to sift it all out. But I figured out that if I pass the scoop over the metal detector coil, if I dug up the piece of metal, the detector will beep, and I know I got the metal in my scoop. I can continue with the sifting. But if I missed the metal, passing the scoop over the detector won't cause a beep and I can just dump the entire scoop out. If the handle was held on by screws, I'd lose that option.

That is a DEBURRING TOOL NOT a REAMER. Great idea but I'm going to omit the handle and epoxy a Screw type pvc fitting cut at an angel and add a 40" screw in removable pvc handle in its place. Too damn old to be bending over for every find at 75. Arther don't like it much! LOL

Great job anad thank you for taking the time! It's a good idea to remove those sharp ends that most zip-ties are cut with cheapness, like using wire cutters. Buy flush cutting cutters for zip-ties, they are low cost and will save a life as an improper cutting on a zp-tie will resolt in slicing onens skin causing mass bleadng. I know ths as I've experanced others handy work resolting in my bloody hands. One would think to look first, but it's not easy to look in many locationgs behind the dash of a undercover police truck. Too many are just too cheap to use such tool's, not thinking someone else mght need to fix it down the road. Great job!
