I had the pleasure of flying in the back of a Kittyhawk with both Ray and Mark on a number of occasions. Two of the nicest guys you could meet. A totally different breed when it came to flying though...every flight was like a combat sortie. The world is not the same without them 😔
I cannot put into words how deeply I envy you. Mark was my childhood hero and I feel very, very lucky to have met Ray and seen him fly. Thank you for sharing!
I was very proud to have met Ray at Biggin Hill many years ago, Ray and Mark are legends in warbird and other flying, RIP guys, sadly missed and well remembered.
I never got to see Mark fly, but was fortunate to see Ray fly (and get his autograph) at Wanaka in 2004 and see some of his last New Zealand displays at Omaka in Easter 2005. I'm glad there are folk who recorded some of their flying for future generations to enjoy and admire.
Mark and his NZ P-40 displays made a big impact on me as a kid (albeit through videos like this, I didn't get to Wanaka until 2004) so he's a big reason the P-40 is my ultimate flying goal :-)

Wow, back when an airshow was an airshow.
Don't you love Ray keeping it low to the deck on takeoff, right at the camera? What an image!
