I like how calm and measured the staff are. You can tell they're frustrated (who wouldn't be?) ... but they don't lose it and get his head back in the right spot. A podium for the day may be lost, but the experience gained continuing to press and investing in your people will pay off down the road.

Fantastic video. The way that you captured the rawness of his wreck, and having to face the team, was so powerful. We all know that feeling when we've messed up and have to face disappointment from ourselves and others. I was happy to see him recover so well, and he's lucky to have strong support from his family. Hope he can follow Jann's footsteps into the higher levels of motorsport.

magnus213 It really perfectly sums up how I felt after the crash. I hated myself more than I've ever hated anything before right up to the moment my second stint started. Recovering was definitely made a lot easier with such a suportive team and I can't thank RJN enough.

I think this is a great idea. Giving chances to people who do not have the luxury to finance racing. There's so much talent around the world but very few have the opportunity to get recognized. Getting a career in racing takes a lot of luck, money and connections. Talent alone cannot get much.
I wish I had the opportunity as I love racing so much but can't finance it. I raced karts professionally for 2 years but couldn't afford it much longer because my mother got diagnosed with cancer. Even though I had a 50% sponsorship it was still too much. My races were all podium finishes however money does run out. I'd do anything to race again and watching this video makes me so happy and emotional because I know exactly how Johnny feels. I wish him the very best and everyone else pursuing a career in racing.

When his mom told him that this moment is his for him to be the star, that wasn't a privilege, that was his duty, for all the people who wanted it and didn't get it. For every professional athlete there are hundreds who worked just as hard, but weren't lucky enough somewhere. It sucks badly and is one of the worst feelings to not make it but you were part of something special and that's what lasts.

100% agreed... And on the same points you've made, i am 1 of those people who put the settings on extreme, no rewind, no braking line, no abs traction or stability. This battle between gt & forza is 100% personal preference. I've played both, many times, and keep coming back to forza, whereas others play both & keep going back to gt. They both have pros & cons, & again like a cars tire pressures, personal preference. Appreciate your open mindedness & willingness to converse/debate as car/game/nismo enthusiasts should, the way anyone should. I agree forza is not perfect, but i also know i will never be good enough/lucky enough on any console or gaming platform to go pro. I take my games seriously, & rage quit occasionally, but at the end of the day, for me, its a game about something i love.

I mean, who can blame him? Even though they have and deserve all the credit for the race they did up untill that crash and even though they're excelent drivers, there's a few sports where you just can't beat experience.
You just can't expect them to go into the hardest type of racing - 24H AND in Dubai - with 3 months preparation and win it with no mistakes, especially when the other 96 cars have drivers with entire careers in racing since karting.
No matter how fast you are, racing needs consistency. It takes one corner or one missed braking point in the thousands you'll make in 24h to screw the entire race.
This is not at all a critique, it's just that, in my opinion, they really shouldn't go from racing amateurs (which is essentially what all the GT Academy drivers are - might be professionals in the sims, but they're amateurs in the race track) straight into a 24H in Dubai. Worse than that one, maybe only Spa, COTA and Suzuka for the GT's (not including Monaco). They should've started on 6H and built their way up for consistent driving under pressure and fatigue... but what do I know, that's my opinion as a viewer and endurance racing enthusiast. I'm sure that if they were given that task by Nismo, they must've been prepared to handle it.

Well exactly like Cars 3 movie when theres a talented trainer that only race with theory and simulator but bad at real race. But its a kids movie so the amateur wins anyway. You must differentiate a simulator and real life. Experience beat theory and any kind of simulation. Hes a good driver but didnt have stamina as all the rest of those real racers.

yeah, they also don't really know proper racing etiquette in real life that you never see in the games. Gran Turismo is very lenient when it comes to braking points compared to real life, in the game you never see oil on the circuit for example which can lead to you fucking up monumentally if you don't know how to deal with it. of course they're never going to win a real race against people who have done this exact thing for 20+ years when all their qualifications is to be the best in a video game.

Bob.. idk what to say, if i imagine that i was the driver i would feel so bad that these people give their best and i let them down in matter of seconds. Bob didn't look mad at him, that's what i really loved about that conversation. He was like "Dude, don't worry, these things happen, you gonna race later, free your head and then you gonna rock the track". Really nice.

sarah sarah it's hard to believe but, driving a racing game is actually harder than real life. You don't have all the forces acting on your body so you have less of an idea of what the car's doing. Also you need to create a radar in your brain to know where cars are around you, as there are several more blind spots than real life. The weird thing is getting behind the wheel of a high powered vehicle in real life and feeling normal about the whole thing. Really you just do what you would do on the game only with a little more caution. If you ever want to go driving fast on track I'd recommend messing about with a driving sim like assetto corsa, GT sport or even forza 7
