The result was well worth your patience, Carl. It turned out very nice. The Maple/Walnut combo worked well. I would never have thought of turning a Teddy bear. (On my list now.) ... Steve
Love the bear, I would certainly give a bear of that pedigree house room. I need to improve my skills, watching you, Robbie and Mike give me so many things I want to do, but it's so cold out. Hopeful that we'll have a good summer.
Man Carl, that was a "bear" of a job! Lol. Sorry just couldn't resist one more pun. I got tired just watching this one buddy but you never cease to amaze with your talents! Glad you stuck it out because it turned out great!
That is awesome Carl. If you look back at your video, when you have the body of the bear on the lathe, the knot ( or whatever it is) on the belly, actually looks like a bear's face :-) .
Happy New Year Carl. Great project and as usual very detailed video. Changing a design on the fly of a project out of two pieces isn't all that difficult. When I think of changing this 12 piece Teddy Bear I would have given up. Going through this and finishing this project shows your outstanding skills. Greetings from Good Old Germany Peter
Oh my goodness, do you have any idea what you have. The Victory was Admiral Nelson's flagship at the battle of Trafalgar. Probably the most significant naval battle in world history. Amazing!!!!
Well Carl! If that don't beat all!! Great stick to it 've ness... ? Makes one wonder ... what all can't be turned on the lathe? Great job and video... your shop sounds so big! Must just be acoustics or something! Welcome to the New Year Larry
Thank you Larry, Glad I stuck it out too. I told my mother I was turning a bear on the lathe, and she said "I can't picture it! at all!" I was beginning to think she was right! :) Take care, Carl
That is one cute little bear Carl, it really made me smile. How do you keep coming up with these ideas? Thanks again for another great video. Take care. Alan
Thank you Alan, When I was looking up the Pumpkin Carriage, I saw a Teddy Bear made out of Pumpkins. I thought I would give it a try. This project was a lot easier in theory :)
Hi Karl that is nice. Great christening gift me thinks. I have one coming up so thankyou for that (off to the shed I go). Also I live close to HMS Victory and I am so jealous but think you will do justice to that wood. Happy New Year my friend David
Ola Sr Carl uma boa noite estou encantado com seu talento e estou aprendendo muito com seus videos pena eu nao ter formoes iguais estes do Sr mas um dia eu vou ter parabens sou seu fa.
Great idea. If you dont mind, I would like to do this for my mother in law for christmas. You mind if i borrow your design Carl? Im thinking you can alter this idea and make a turtle.
Ummmm isn't it illegal to remove pieces of a historical monument like the HMS Victory from England?? These pieces of wood should have never left the Victory's restoration site. Carl, I think you may be breaking the law by accepting this wood least of all ruining it further by turning it.
No it is not against the law at all. I am a listed supplier of services to the Royal Naval Heritage Museum. Any materials supplied to myself by the Royal Navy that I deem to not be viable, or meet the quality standard to make products for the RNHM shops and other outlets, I can freely dispose of how I feel fit. I would rather pass it on to someone than use it for firewood. I hope this clears up any issues you may have. Tony
Carl Jacobson Carl, I tried to use the coupon, but the message that I get says that it has either reached it's limit or has expired. How much is the coupon supposed to be for anyway?
This was a fun project, I turned all the pieces on the lathe. I was a little skeptical at first. I think it turned out nice in the end.
That's awesome Carl! I never would have thought to make a bear on the lathe.
Thank you Steve
Very cute Carl. Glad to see it "turned" out well in the end

Love the bear, I would certainly give a bear of that pedigree house room. I need to improve my skills, watching you, Robbie and Mike give me so many things I want to do, but it's so cold out. Hopeful that we'll have a good summer.

Hey Carl I love watching your videos! Quick question for you, how often do you sharpen your tools? Also, love this bear project! It looks so cool!
Thank you, I depends on the type of wood, but about once a week.
