Thank you Froogle for actually flying a real serious flight during this video! It was refreshing to see a simmer flying in MFS in a typical fashion how simmers will use it. The 18th can't come soon enough!!!! 😁
Moto Mengy LoL yes for once. Nothing but over speeding, swan diving, crash landing, folks with their hands on this early preview of the sim. Having “x” amount of subscribers should not be the only qualification for giving some of these folks the press version for goodness sake. Glad to see a serious aviator/simmer content.
Nice to see a Frooglesim video again. Your idea of supporting new simmers to this is very good. I am looking forward to see how high fidelity the various planes are. And a small comparison to DCS.
I remember when Microsoft first announced msfs 2020....you were not very keen on it. Boy were you wrong (thankfully). Now you are like a giddy little schoolboy about it.....and rightfully so.....it’s amazing. Happy to hear you will be making content about it. Looking forward to watching it!
Most of the negative initial reaction "old" simmers gave when it was first announced, was because of the business practice MS had on their flight sims. They left/closed the FSX line, brought about FLIGHT, which looked promising at first, then shut it's doors, leaving the simmers hanging. So it was more of a phobia or perhaps lack of faith for yet another Sim from them. This time around MS/Asobo said they will be supporting this new sim for at least the next 10 years or so, and I really hope they will.
@@santiagoluib3 Yup and go back further to MSFS for Windows 95 and it was a pausing, stuttering disaster. That was the first time the FS was ported to Windows instead of DOS. It was so bad I went back to my DOS FS 5.1 which was basically the same sim without all the herky jerky. They never fixed the Win 95 version, just released a new version in 1998 and let everyone buy it. Yeah...most that have dealt with MS flight sims don't jump up and down when they show Beta stuff. I've been flying Google Earths FS for five years and it's smooth as glass but with less to render as far as a panel and instruments. Hope FS2020 works out too.
Awesome coverage of the amazing new sim! Love your stuff. I am all for your how to fly videos, but there were several things that caught my eye that you did in which were contrary to the normal way of operating the Cessna 172 in real life. I teach in a C172S in the Seattle area weekly. Keep in mind I understand this was an informal video but in case you wanted to get this stuff out formally, here's some pointers. -Generally, in a GA airplane, you don't taxi with taxi lights and especially not landing lights on during the daytime. Also, navlights aren't required until sunset till sunrise. They're definitely used in flight during daytime for visibility to other traffic but not during taxi. This applies to the nav/landing/taxi lights. -The Cessna 172s is a high wing, in other words, the fuel is gravity fed to the engine. You never need to use the fuel pump in flight. It is solely used before starting the engine in case priming is required for a cold start. -Pitot heat is never to be used unless you are flying in visible moisture with an OAT of less than or equal to 40 degrees F or 2 degrees C. -The Renton airport never does patterns on the west side of the airport over the hill due to the proximity to both Boeing Field (BFI) as well as the homes on the hill for noise abatement. 16 is left traffic, and 34 is right traffic for that reason. It's listed on the sectional/chart supplement as well. -The Seattle class B airspace in the area you were climbing to 3500 feet had a floor of 3000 feet, so in real life you would have busted it. Of course in a sim if you're just flying, doesn't matter, but if you're teaching to a legit spec of hopping onto VATSIM and flying VFR, that would be a bust of airspace. Your VFR cruising altitudes brief was correct but that doesn't start until 3000agl and you must be clear of all airspace unless you have permission to enter.
Stunning. This almost feels like this might actually be a real thing that we can use without crashing, without spending £1000's and without spending hours maintaining a stable sim... Praise the sun
Really sells it watching you struggle a little bit keeping track of your location while I was able to tell exactly what you were looking at through the whole video having flown (as a passenger) over that area many times and driven through it many many more times. I'm really looking forward to this, I loved playing FS in the 80's and 90's but always lost interest since I seem to be more interested in the exploring than the simulation.
Usually if you hate something, you will definitely say that you do.. but clearly there is everything to love about MSFS 2020.. i can't wait for it to be released!
I heard some people complain about some things, but It was mostly about things that should not be expected from a stock sim/aircrafts. Things like the a320 not following airbus flight law etc.
Been waiting for a froogle video on the new sim. Very much looking forward to lots of new content from you over the next few weeks. While i count down the hour to being able to play myself.

the trees changing shape is not only caused by the streaming, but also the graphical optimizations bringing in more fidelity when getting closer to an object.

I got burnt out in sims as well. Was getting tired of setting up and patching all my third party add on's for a single flight. Plus the sky's were sooooo lonely in x-plane. Cant wait to come back. I wouldn't consider myself a beginner but i'll be watching your new revamped tutorials.
Really love that your doing this again @frooglesim really looking forward to your starter guides as well! Stay healthy mate! Hope to see more fs2020 uploads from you!
Froogle, good to have you back...it has been a few years....I hope to see you in more episodes. I too have been testing this sim since the Alpha, great expectations. It is nice they gave you a clean copy, I wish I had one. I guess I don't have a channel!
I am just looking forward to the day where they implement passenger and cargo handling/transport by default and actually give these things an actual objective to fulfil. FSPassengers and Cargo Pilot/Air Hauler were noble attempts at bringing that aspect of flying into FSX, but I always felt they were quite a bit short of full enjoyment due to the limitations of FSX, amongst other things. It'd be great if MS2020 finally facilitated something like this in-engine.
Glad you will have a tutorial series for the sim. I really want to get into the sim, but as an x-plane expert, I am trying to find the time and energy to learn a new sim. I trust that the FLYING part will be similar as I take x-plane as realistically as possible, but learning the nuances of a new sim seems exhausting. So, watching you break it down should help. :)
you know... im absolutely new to flight sims, ALL the videos ive watched on this game this is the one that i learnt the most watching, very simple explanations of what your doing and why your doing it goes a long way and i thank you for that, have a sub.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge of aerodynamics, flying and all that you do. I am so pleased that I want to share some of my knowledge to you in something I seem to know more of than you. It's an incredibly simple device that blocks the sunlight that interferes with your track IR making an otherwise great video somewhat annoying. This device is called (at least here in the United States), a shade. Other known names of it that you can do a Froogle-Google on are; blinds, curtains, duct tape, spray paint. So many simple ways to block that annoying sun! Hope that helps as much as your shared knowledge has helped us! :)
Interesting video Frooglesim, Lot different from when I started using Microsoft Simulator back in 1982 using the old Commodore 64 and the sim was on a floppy disc. It was always great when updates arrived but this is so realistic and from what you have said one may not have to buy any add on's as it is already included in the sim. At 79 years of age I know that I will thoroughly enjoy the new sim. Thanks again for another great video. Barry
Such an amazing cockpit experience in MS FlightSim. Such beauty and scenery that's just pure visialgasms and smooth operation in functional systems and weather effects. I wonder what else is being planned for the new MSFS? Will they offer vintage aircraft, WW2 historical planes and offer any player missions/campaigns. There was a great mod for FS X called FireFighter X where you're a pilot of water planes, dumping water over wildfires, flying to the lake, skim the water for another pass, help save the forests of the world. Great mod, I hope to see other innovative projects be released for this too in time! Awesome stuff, now I must get a hold of some sturdy rudder pedals to complete my flight systems setup! Virpil Mongos T-50 Base, Virpil WarBird Control Stick mated currently to a *OLDER* Saitek X53 Flight System Throttle Stick. Ordered my Virpil throttle (OUCH!!) and have to wait before the rudders can be ordered. The price we pay for lifetime reliability and tunability.
Thanks for this! You mostly did your flying from in the airplane (except when you poked your head out the side...) and gave us a chance to see how most people will fly. I have not used TrackIR, but mine arrives today. Really looking forward to the 18th!
THIS is the review we've been waiting for! At last Froogle is on the case. Not the best video you've made, but you got across all the important first points. I look forward to your future MSFS videos and learning more about it. Thanks.
Glad to see you talk how amazing the new sim is. I do recall you were originally skeptical about it at beginning. I am excited as well and look forward to seeing your future videos. Happy flying!
Froggle: So happy to see/hear you back on UA-cam. I know this is an amazing sim and can't wait to get mine on the 18th. I was a little disappointed, however, to see the ground crew not move out of the way by more disappointed to watch the yellow van drive through the back of the business jet parked in the row in front of you. I really hoped those kinds of issues would not appear in this new sim. Perhaps it will be fixed in a future update.
**whole world modelled in never before seen detail, better out of the box than past generations even with thousands of dollars of mods** simmers: **scoff** the ground crew aren't realistic enough
Yeah but honestly, from a programming standpoint how hard can it be to tell one object not to collide with another object ( since the who,e sim is made up of objects that interact with each other)
This is brand new, there are bound to be rough spots on any new piece of software, you get into this expecting it to improve over time, and - time will tell.
@@jwaveartdesign5686 you might be surprised, collision checking is surprisingly expensive, and path planning for entities to account for that is also surprisingly difficult. Games in which this plays center stage spend a lot of their resources dealing with stuff like this. It's not some unsolved problem to be sure, but one needs to spend time on it to get it to work. Given the amount of other things this sim is doing one should probably give them a bit of slack on not focusing overmuch on ground crew interactions.
This is by far the best MSF2020 video I've seen to date. In crisp clear 1440p60. I learned so much about prop mix, altimeter etc. My hat off to your clear and plain explanation of everything. Thank you very much! #todayilearnedalot #hypetrain
FYI that waterfall at 19:30 is the Salish Lodge - AKA the Great Northern Hotel from the show Twin Peaks. Also, what was being circled at 25:55 is Nintendo of America's headquarters (MS's offices are a bit more north of NoA and mostly on the other side of 520 in that area.)
Just watched this and another of your videos. Subscribed immediately. I'm having a blast learning MFS. Your help will be invaluable. Love your sense of humor, mixed with technical knowledge. You make learning fun!
With due respect to Mr Froogle and his work I'd like to call out a few inaccuracies in his tutorial, for the sake of viewers' knowledge (I fly G1000 C172s out of Renton in real life): 1. He goes straight from the parking stand to the runway and takes off without going through before takeoff checklist items, notably flight control checks and engine run-up. This is normally done in the run-up area by the runway threshold (in case you were wondering what those large areas of empty pavement are). I suppose one can argue that he did the run-up already in the parking area before starting the video, but in the real world that's not the norm. 2. While flying the real C172 you don't normally turn on the aux fuel pump during takeoff and landing; it is not in the checklists. The only time I use the electric pump in practice is when priming the engine prior to start. 3. Pitot heat is generally not used in small GA aircraft unless flying in IMC (i.e in the clouds) in near-freezing conditions. 4. When flying VFR you can cruise at any altitude at or below 3000' AGL as another commented called out below. 5. Departing VFR out of Renton I wouldn't normally climb directly to 3500' as, depending on your rate of climb, that could put you into SeaTac's class B airspace, which requires an additional clearance that is rarely given to VFR flights. 6. Contrary to what Mr Froogle says, flying VFR over downtown Seattle area is actually quite common and easy to do :) Depending on how far south you stray you may need to get in touch with BFI tower as you are entering their class D airspace, but otherwise it's not a big deal and you don't even have to talk to ATC while doing so.
While you are correct in what you say, many people that will be flying FS2020 will not be following the strictest of rules as applied to the real world. That is the great thing with flightsimming..... you can be as realistic as you want or simply fly this for entertainment only.
Dude THANK YOU for explaining what you're doing! Most of the videos I've seen have just been rapping out what they're doing and zooming across the cockpit clicking random shit. I usually just skip to take off due to that. This is the first time I've actually watched the start-up without feeling like a complete idiot lmao.
Thanks for another great video Froogle, good to see you back. I hope you get on top of the TrackIR issues. As to Bill's house, I'll bet that he is happy that his house doesn't show (or even had some say in it lol).
I am looking forward to your performance tips in the future. You were instrumental when I set up my FSX back in the day with the tips you gave on performance and tweaking.
Thanks, Froogle for a very nice introduction to MSFS. I am especially looking forward to your videos about mapping flight controls and the camera system. The alpha did not seem to have any sort of easy to find instructions, and the view system will hopefully be improved on release.
I live about 15 miles north of Kirkland and that is exactly what it looks like. The smaller lakes were even modeled with the green tint of algae and the deeper ones the darker blue. Been P.C. flying since Sub Logic days. Jet Line customer as well. I cant wait for the 18th!
@@roib7781 I'm thinking that this is a bug in the build or Microsoft haven't turned on the correct weather yet. We don't have a lot of information other than meteoblue is supplying atmospheric conditions. But the atis and sim often don't match and the winds always seem super low. The other night I was in the Bahamas and it was 54 kts severe thunderstorms (hurricane). Atis reported all these things. But it was just a few clouds and smooth flying in the TBM. Very strange.
I am really excited for this new release. It's the quality of the scenery that is really doing it for me. Luckily I have the Xbox Ultimate Pass for the kids so can use that to try this out before I commit to purchasing the premium version. The ATC looks considerably improved too and should really add to the immersion of the sim.
Just found your channel. I look forward to your "how to fly a plane" series as you seem to very good at explaining things and this will be my first flight sim!
I vividly remember your first reaction when MSFS was announced. "I don't care" It looks like you were fortunately wrong, Pete. Anyways, please don't think I'm criticising you. We all were a bit sceptical in the beginning about this flight SIM. Now it looks like a dawn of a new era for flight simming. Thanks for the video.
I've pre ordered the premium deluxe box set from Aerosoft Web site, so I guess I will have to wait a little longer than the 18th before I get to use this superb looking sim.
Great video and thanks for staying inside the cockpit! I get so tired of the videos concentrating on external views, which might make for a nice screen saver but don't convey what it's like to fly the airplane. Incidentally, below 3000AGL the directional altitudes no longer apply. Meaning that when you turned from easterly heading to westerly then yes, you needed to leave 3500ft and either climb to 4500 or drop to 3000, at which point you could go any direction you wanted.
I fly the 172R G1000 for my flight training and it's so crazy seeing an EXACT recreation of one inside a game. I definitely need to buy flight sim 2020
It really is incredible, especially that this is a default C172 and not payware. Once companies like A2A release their addons for it you'll see full wear and tear modeled like it is now in P3D to where even your oil choices are completely modeled. A2A unfortunately make their code too locked down for simmers like me so none of my high end home pit gear works with it. This default C172 assures me I will be fine as is. It's remarkable.
Thankyou for actually explaining some of the things as you were flying, very informative. Flown FSX & XP11 and still finding out stuff. Runways numbers add a 0 for heading, I feel so dumb for not realising that until today. Plus you actually explained the 'Papi' (I think) lights.
I'm one of those new guys you mentioned of in this video, so I just wanted to chime in here and say this video was really informative and that I'm looking forward to your future videos! Can't wait for the 18th.

This sim will inspire an entire next generation of pilots
I have two 8 year old boys and they are going to FREAK OUT when I show them the sim I'm building in the shed just for this game.
Nice to see a Frooglesim video again. Your idea of supporting new simmers to this is very good. I am looking forward to see how high fidelity the various planes are. And a small comparison to DCS.
Really like that you talk and explain for us that are new to Flight sim and explain things that are not obvious if you not used xplane for 2+ years.
One of the best videos I have seen so far well done froogle! Cant wait until get hands on this sim.
All other flight sims now defunct - about time too.
I ordered a fairly cheap hotas and pre ordered the game. This video explained so much to me as someone who hasn't played a flight sim since MSFS97 when I was a kid.
the trees changing shape is not only caused by the streaming, but also the graphical optimizations bringing in more fidelity when getting closer to an object.
Was waiting for your first review brilliant as usual
With all the media hoopla about the new simulator, I was wondering "where's the guy who showed me so many many things on simulation all these years." I'm happy to see your first video. Good job.
MS gave their beta team access first and Froogle got a "Media pass" which came after.
Sure can tell you're impressed...would like to see videos showing how to launch the sim... what screens are available for various selections... area... aircraft... weather... etc... Cold and dark startup vs click an go... too much for a single video... anxious for your next video... Wayne and Ocala Flight Sim Club...Thanks for everything.
I can see modding companies' nervous sweat building up from here.
There are always new opportunities with a new sim. It brings fresh blood (as in young gamers) to a somewhat stagnant hobby.
But is this sim moddable? I really don't know xD
If it's not moddable then, well, no place for mods.
@@amandasantini6265 There is a whole marketplace section in the sim purely for that purpose. Most of the well known third party developers have confirmed they are working on products for fs2020.
Theres plenty of things for 3rd party devs to add and build upon. They have nothing to worry about.
@@lipslide101 Cool! I'm glad Microsoft has embraced mods.
it doesn't matter how many videos I watch by different channels, I still cannot get ovet the beauty of this game! can't wait to have a game to push my comp for a change! excited doesn't cut it!!
Thanks for the awesome video. I am super excited to see new content released by flight sim UA-cam personalities. I am pleased you actually showed a bit of the ATC. I love using ATC when I fly to increase realism and challenge so seeing you display it pleases my ever-continuing appetite for FS2020 information. What a stunning sim!
Wonderful, thank you, Pete. Great to see you back in FlightSim. Cheers, and stay well.
Froogle, good to have you back...it has been a few years....I hope to see you in more episodes. I too have been testing this sim since the Alpha, great expectations. It is nice they gave you a clean copy, I wish I had one. I guess I don't have a channel!
This is the video I've been waiting for. Big ups Froogle!!
Welcome back, I've been waiting to here from a few guys from the flight sim Community and your are at the very top of that list
I love how the van passes right through the airplane in front of you at the beginning of the video
you know... im absolutely new to flight sims, ALL the videos ive watched on this game this is the one that i learnt the most watching, very simple explanations of what your doing and why your doing it goes a long way and i thank you for that, have a sub.
Glad I could help!
@@frooglesim thanks man, appreciate it.
May I humbly suggest the purchase of a blind, shutters or a good old curtain? :D TrackIR may be more feasable during sunny moments...
I was gonna say something - but your comment was perfect! I was gonna put him in touch with a blind man.
Really looking forward to the 18th!
my favorite youtuber just made the best msfs video i have seen
THIS is the review we've been waiting for! At last Froogle is on the case. Not the best video you've made, but you got across all the important first points. I look forward to your future MSFS videos and learning more about it. Thanks.
Glad to see you talk how amazing the new sim is. I do recall you were originally skeptical about it at beginning. I am excited as well and look forward to seeing your future videos. Happy flying!
Glad you’re back with this kind of content. So enjoyable 👍🏻
God to see you back Froogle. Looking forward to more.
**whole world modelled in never before seen detail, better out of the box than past generations even with thousands of dollars of mods**
simmers: **scoff** the ground crew aren't realistic enough
YAY!!! I've been waiting for your review...you're the only one I pay attention to
Literaly the first minutes of the video and a car drives through a plane like it's nothing. Love it.
Hopefully the world appreciates it and respects it. Its a masterpiece....and it was about time
Finally! Waiting for your upload on FS2020 ❤️ love this one!
Phew. I'm glad Track Ir is Supported. I remember flying FSX back then and had to get some sort of add on for Track IR to work.
As someone who flys C172 G1000s daily as an instructor - The flight model seems extremely accurate.
Good to see you back. Looking forward to all your new videos. Stay safe.
Froogle, US PPL here. You don’t have to worry about VFR altitudes (odd or even plus 500...) until you have passed 3000fg AGL
Just watched this and another of your videos. Subscribed immediately. I'm having a blast learning MFS. Your help will be invaluable.
Love your sense of humor, mixed with technical knowledge. You make learning fun!
With due respect to Mr Froogle and his work I'd like to call out a few inaccuracies in his tutorial, for the sake of viewers' knowledge (I fly G1000 C172s out of Renton in real life):
Glad to see you back and look forward to more videos with FS2020.
Its really awesome to see buildings you've actually been in.
Meeeen, my expectations for the new Grand Theft Auto after this damnnn, Rockstar!!! Don't disappoint
18-th of August - and counting. I can't wait ...
Today’s only the third 😩
Great vid Froogle. Can’t wait for VR on the sim. Can’t help feeling a little sad for the XP11 guys and the other sims. Onwards and upwards.👍🏻
Think you flew right over my house. That was Snoqualmie Falls you flew by. Brunch at the restaurant there is amazing.
Welcome back! UA-cam has been quiet without you
It's so cool how I can see they're giving creators a hands on preview one by one.
I Love watching Frugal landing a GA airplane ( No Autopilot) He's getting better!. He normally squirrels along the runway
Glad your back Pete Thank's for sharing!
Thanks, Froogle for a very nice introduction to MSFS. I am especially looking forward to your videos about mapping flight controls and the camera system. The alpha did not seem to have any sort of easy to find instructions, and the view system will hopefully be improved on release.
Tips for setting and reading altimeter setting in Kollsman window: towers to ours, when going from a high to a low watch out below.
I live about 15 miles north of Kirkland and that is exactly what it looks like. The smaller lakes were even modeled with the green tint of algae and the deeper ones the darker blue. Been P.C. flying since Sub Logic days. Jet Line customer as well. I cant wait for the 18th!
Glad someone else noticed that about the depth and color. I thought I was just being overly hopeful.
Can’t wait to compare the 172 flight models between X-Plane and this. That’s our flight training area outside of Renton!... Snoqualmie and north bend.
Good to see Froogle's mojo coming back!
this isn't realistic, I can actually understand the ATIS. :)
ATIS is incorrect or the interpolation is wrong. Reported 3 layers of few clouds and its all clear.
😂
:)
@@FunktasticLucky so there is a major flaw in the weather system.
Subscribed. I watched a lot of videos from different youtubers and i still learnt a lot of new stuff from you.
I am looking forward to this sim and your upcoming short tutorials. Newbie pilot here. Appreciate the widescreen footage as well.
Just found your channel. I look forward to your "how to fly a plane" series as you seem to very good at explaining things and this will be my first flight sim!
Nice to see a simmer covering this :)
EveryTime I Look At Your Tubes I Learn Something and I Follow..
Great video, been flying sims for years but still learned a couple of things through this vid! Really looking forwards to this one's release!!
This single video will work wonders for your channel, I can predict
I vividly remember your first reaction when MSFS was announced.
"I don't care"
It looks like you were fortunately wrong, Pete.
Anyways, please don't think I'm criticising you.
We all were a bit sceptical in the beginning about this flight SIM.
Now it looks like a dawn of a new era for flight simming.
Thanks for the video.
@spaceweed10 We are all human after all.
@spaceweed10 POPCORN TIME!
@@RetroAmateur1989 OH WAIT LET ME GET MY POPCORN!
@spaceweed10 YAY
You guys behave or I'll remove my post.
Lol even some of us 'seasoned simmers' found a few of these tips useful!
Welcome back Froogle :)
