@gw6061 Merry Christmas to you and thanks for the kind words
They were political prisoners on both sides who would have never gone down the path they did, only for the situation at the time. Heartbreaking all round. Thank you for posting these videos they mean a lot to those of us who lived it.
The likes of Johnny adair would have ended up in prison either way the likes him just used the troubles to run criminal rackets
They wouldn’t t have gone that path if they had chosen not to join terrorist organisation. The situation has changed because they decided to talk rather than kill people

Former UDA boss Johnny Adair brands IRA best ‘guerrilla army’ ever
Loyalist praises republican hunger strikers

Former UDA commander Johnny Adair has described the IRA as “the best guerrilla warfare army there has ever been” and spoken about his respect for republican hunger strikers.
The former ‘C Company’ boss made the claim during a podcast with far-right activist Tommy Robinson.
During the conversation Robinson said: “I’ve seen the IRA described as the best guerrilla warfare army there has ever been”, which prompted an unexpected response from Adair.

“Their bombmaking technology was a step ahead of the British Army, the army tried to keep ahead of them and the IRA was always in front,” he said.
“Even the hunger strikers, I grudgingly respect them men too, they starved themselves to death for a political cause, dedication at the highest level.
“Now I’m dedicated, and I knew one day I could lose my life and the IRA would get me, and I accepted that because I didn’t know what day it would be.
“These hunger strikers, death was staring them in the face for 60-odd days. If I was asked to give my life on hunger strike? No I wouldn’t do it, I wouldn’t have been as brave to do that.
Peter Taylor, excellent journalist.

1972 - A Back to the Future moment, symptomatic of a much deeper problem that hasn't gone away, you know.
Does anyone know if the song that lady sings in the pub is out there anywhere? I couldn't find anything with a lyrics search.
Also, does anyone know where one could find a copy of that version of the Green Book?
Very glad I could contribute this one to the channel!
Joking about the WCA but I honestly believe people take up arms when they see no other possible way out of poverty/oppression.
You might honestly believe it but people in NI took up arms because they thought it gave them an advantage within a democracy. They did not suffer any oppression in the 80 s

Genuine question probably best answered by people born and raised in the free state
Do the people of the South genuinely want to take on the North what would it do to the economy ect
It has to be a two-way thing ! The British people in ulster have Notting to worry about in a UTD ireland and everything to gain as are brothers who live in this country we call home ( ireland) my guess is massive investment world come in from the USA , EU , if that day comes its in the hands of the people who live in ulster .
A recent report said unification will cost €20billion a year for 20 years. That means the standard of living in the Republic will fall, taxes go up, public spending go down. The Brits would love to get the North off their books. Bill Clinton famously said "it's the economy stupid". Let's see how patriotic people in the Republic are when they have to pick up the tab.
300 hundred years the Westminster bubble does not give a flying
I'll sing a song, bout the bravest men, that famous fighting unit from armagh ? ?

IRELAND belongs to the Irish no one else
Eeerrmmm..it actually belongs to the EU!
Sadly we do!

So in thatchers words there is no such thing as political violence, murder or bombing so does that mean she is saying that when she sent her soliders to the faiulklands it was a criminal act ???
It’s pretty ironic isn’t it?
@@billbo2117 the British are the foreign invaders everywhere they went they went by force not by invitation
@@billbo2117 i know I will regret asking but the Argentinians were fighting in Argentina and the British occupied a small part of that country. Likewise, the Republicans who fought the British were the Irish in Ireland where Britain claimed a small part, so who was the foreign invader you are talking about? It’s not just a different POV, I really can’t think who was s foreign invader of Britain?
@@billbo2117 I didn’t say that Britain was an invader, i asked who it was that you claimed invaded Britain, because in neither case was there a “foreign” invader,
