Liked your ideas, especially the artwork section! As for thrifting, I'm not sure it has to do with your location as much as how popular thrifting has become. People are no longer donating their "junk" but are selling stuff on FB, therefore, thrift shops don't have as much good stuff as they've had in the past. Additionally, more people are on to thrifting for goodies, so when something good hits the thrift shop, it gets snatched up quickly. Perhaps large metropolitan areas are still good sources for thrifted items, but when the likes of Lone Fox and other resellers are "thrifting" for resale, the prices go up and the 2nd hand market is no longer affordable for those with small budgets.
Oof. I learned that the hard way as a very young adult. I had a lamp with a maroon and beige shade that I chose because I liked the colors of the shade. Well, haha, it almost defeated the purpose of being a light, as it barely lit up a five foot radius. Once I replaced the shade, I could finally see! Lesson learned!!
I have found that it is easier to have a unique space when you relay on second hand items. When you buy new you are going with trends and too much new matching furniture makes a space look like a store catalog. I didn’t have a choice with this because I’m poor but every single piece of furniture I have was either thrifted, given to me, or found on the side of the road. Sometimes being forced to have a piece that isn’t your style is just what your place needs. Doing this might not bring the pieces that feel super cool or new or sleek but thrifting a cool old chair or a weird hand me down coffee table adds so much personality to a space. Of course if I had the money I would buy some things new like rugs, curtains, and modern pieces. Also having a local artist paint something in a color palette that goes with your furniture is cool! I had a young artist friend and I paid her to paint something for me.
thank you for this. I'm always so overwhelmed and intimidated and exhausted by the process of trying to figure out what I like and how to decorate once I find things, so I wind up just doing nothing and living in bland blank boring spaces. lol. thank you for these tips and for making the whole thing feel a lot less daunting; even just knowing how to better scale and arrange things has already sparked my inspiration for how I want to hang all these pictures currently just sitting on the floor against the wall. haha. I so appreciate you!
I agree, thrifting is fun but it’s not so easy to find treasures. Apart from that, I never thought about playing with frame mats, but I really like the idea. I’m going to remember that! Thank you Becca. ❤
Mmhmm I can totally relate to the lack of thrifring options. I didn't realize how blessed we were in that regard back home. Here? Next to nothing. It's such a first world problem but it's still a problem nonetheless.
Thank you for explaining how to “have a moment” … great advice, that make your videos unique & something I love about your channel!! Btw, how is engaged life? Have you started any wedding planning get? Remember, viewers (me!) would enjoy following along💗
I love the idea of family and friends thrifting for each other. I do it for them. I think layers, contrast, texture, and plants help make spaces more interesting.
Another helpful video! Love the section on lamps and I agree with you 100%. The best lamps I have I found at the thrift store including some unique shades! Thanks Becca!
I have trimmed plain lampshades with ribbon and added a fabric flower clip to the top. Perfect. I’ve also added dollar tree brown leaf stickers to another and love it
I like white and beige and i find it hard to do colors. It’s just less stressful too. Sometimes i want to try colors or darker tones but i always gravitate towards the white and beige colors. I feel like maybe I’m trying too hard to be something I’m not when i try add or look for colors. In fact, i don’t even really have a favorite color.
Totally agree with the small frames! Letting open and empty spaces deliberately is also an aesthetic choice and a way to embellish the design in a room!
My mom and I always go thrifting together. She already has way too much decor but today she said she needs a vase and can't wait to go again. My daughter will be two months old tomorrow so hopefully we can go soon.
Becca I was Watching your Old Videos and Suddenly I saw your Notification came I clicked so fast😭💗✨ and you always brighten up my day special with your New Video sending you lots of love to you
*Art* . I'm a huge fan of spray painting mats. The key is to go slow and use small, short bursts. I've upcycled thrifted prints with matting as well as frames. The sketch filter is great, I also like using watercolor filters.
I love the corner gallery wall. I agree with the lamps.. oh man. I am a lamp girl, all the way. My other half rolls his eyes every time he has to walk around and turn them off before bed lol But it's got to be the right lamp.. like those octopus arm lamps from the early 2000's, you're not it. I actually have no idea what those are called but as an extreme example.. lamps can be so wrong, but so good. I too am over the white shade hotel lamp. Also I would have never known that was ribbon from your tree.. rocked it
Oh I was thinking how lovely the ribbon is your hair looked. Don’t fell bad, We still have the Xmas tree up as well due to the son’s about to move and they are packing to move. 😊
You areso funny. The moment turned on your video, I thought to myself how beautiful you. And how adorable your hair looks with the ribbon. Amazing you think differently!!!!!!!!!! ❤
I was sitting after lunch with my espresso, thinking, asking myself out loud 😅 where is Becca today ?!? Love your idea of the … “corner” gallery wall ! Will definitely give that a try 😊. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, sooooo look forward to your videos . Thank you
Can you do a whole video on curtains? It's mysterious lol and i don't know how to avoid white... it goes with everything right? I'm not a renter but hate painting so our whole house is alabaster (except our powder bath) and i don't know how to pick curtain color or pattern!
i like how your videos arent annoying, overly excited (in a fake way) and realistic about money and dont feel so scripted
The first thing I noticed was your headband....I love it!
I love your videos. Would love to see more 'thrift with me' and how you style your space!

Becca, fantastic ideas! I loved the story of your siblings thrifting for you, so personal all around.
I think a white lamp shade is beautiful because it gives off the most light. Choose a lamp with a unique base and your lamp will be beautiful.

Some great tips. Thank you! I've sketched my dogs and the houses I've lived in. I LOVE them all! Very different and fun! They look amazing.

Love your bow honey…. And this was a wonderful video.
I'm currently making a table lamp out of an old bagpipe drone... here's hoping it's not boring!
We need a Becca's Christmas thrift haul!!!
❤Great tips 🎉 Thanks for sharing 😊

A way to make it personal is to use a brush instead of a roller when you are painting something
Make a vid on Rococo or Baroque interior design❤

where is your bow from? or you did it? I love it, please show me your ways haha

Omg you look like the famous artist. Hania Amir
You're less than 5 feet tall?!?!
Etsy sure, eBay 10x better
Painting mats is a bad idea and colored mats distract from the art
According to whom?
@madzabinga8382 a professional framer
Colored mats look great and complement the art. Painting mats is fine for most art, but maybe not great you want to keep it pristine for decades.
Eye of the beholder 🤷♀️ to each their own
