Brent, there's a problem with the parking brake/boat launching issue.
You see, the parking brake is on the rear axle. The parking pawl in the transmission also only acts on the rear axle.
If you don't "unfasten" your boat from the trailer the rear of your vehicle floats up WITH the boat and trailer.
Since you're now on a boat RAMP gravity, and possibly the body of water, are acting in collusion to suck your entire rigging out into the depths.
Your only recourse is that your front brakes are holding you in place, unless the tide comes in.
If you are driving a properly prepared tow truck you could use your line-lock to hold all of the brakes but alas, most of us don't launch our boats with a tow truck.
If you have a newer 4wd vehicle you COULD engage the front drive and probably drive out of this positively precarious position.
Most AWD vehicles don't TRULY lock the center differential so as with the rear wheel drive boat launcher you are, in a word, SCREWED!
My Uncle found himself in this exact predicament in his 1985 Ford F-250 diesel. As he had not locked his hubs in as of yet he was forced to sit for a few hours with his foot on the brake until someone came along to lock his hubs for him. Diesel exhaust sooting up the water as it burbled along with the tailpipe submerged.
Finally someone heard his honking and pleas for help.
For you millenials, cell phones were NOT commonly in use at this time.

Back in the day, we made "potato guns" out of steel brverage cans and duct tape. A tennis ball would fit in it like a ball down a Brown Bess. Great fun was had shooting tennis balls at each other. Then someone asked " what if we soaked the tennis ball in lighter fluid. ... And we invented FIRE BALLS!

While I have no specific knowledge of the intricacies of export commerce, it seems like the foreign entity could establish a purchasing division stateside. At that point, the situation (I would think) would be for the owner of record to sell on the domestic market. The purchasing party would then only be shipping the lawfully acquired property to the primary location of the property owner. Conversely, establishing a branch in a “favored“country might be another solution.
I can’t begin to tell you how much I hate the bureaucracy. I thought we lived in a democratic republic whose primary job was protecting us and a limited responsibility for a few enumerated areas beyond that. Obviously, we no longer enjoy what our founders fought for, even to laying down their lives.
Color me extremely sad and disappointed.

Champion shooter and builder Bill Wilson states in one of his videos with Ayoob ( no name dropping here, nosiree!) That since he started out shooting on a Python, that he ALWAYS comes off the trigger, slow or rapid fire...no one's contradicted him, I do the same, having cut my center-fire teeth on a S & W 1917....

The only problem with what Roy says about price point is being a consumer that can never afford a Wilson Combat AR, why with the lower tier manufacturers some have a good reputation for quality while others have problems - they are factories, you'd think the engineers know what's what, and even the big boys have problems at times....so gremlins?

    On the malfunctioning Star BM:
I beleive that the bullets of the cartridges in the magazine are your problem.
That pistol was designed to feed "pointy" FMJ military ammunition as it's a European service pistol.
Wide mouth/nose hollow points and flat nose "lead free" ammo can bump the slide stop up INSIDE of the frame as the rounds feed up through the magazine ammo column.
Since it doesn't do it when you keep your thumb on the lever you are dampening this "bump" on the inside of the very same control.
NOW, DO THIS VERY CAREFULLY, AND SAFELY.
Remove the slide, insert a loaded magazine into the magazine well WITH the slide stop installed. You may have to put some pressure on the side of the lever to keep it properly engaged.
See if the left side of the bullet is very close to, or contacting the inside of the slide stop protruding through the frame.
You can slowly remove a bit of metal from that exact area that is interfering. Be AWARE however that ledge is there to allow the magazine follower to contact it and lock the slide back. If you remove too much your slide stop will only operate manually.
I love these Star pistols, and have quite a few, still looking for a REASONABLE price on a BKM!
I have never seen this problem on a Star but HAVE, MANY TIMES, on 1911s.

We are exporters of firearms to a number of countries, but this has caused such a big problem for us. I wonder after May 31st all the licenses that were applied before, may work or not based on "presumption of denial" which is also quite stupid.

@@fmgpubs Hi Roy! I wanted to get in touch with you to give you some clarity from my side as well. The entire process even though I asked all the spec agents who handle our shipments from FL, have absolutely no clue what's going on. It's such a dire situation for us. We export to a number of countries including El Salvador, Pakistan, UAE, and others. I know there is an open discussion going on somewhere where FFL's can reach their local politician or something but I don't possess enough knowledge about it. Hi, here in Panama, we have small businesses that bring guns from the US no matter the brand, but there are big companies that are distributors they bring European guns, beretta, glock, HK, CZ, Masada etc... you get the picture they also import European ammo all this does is affect the small family owned importers and benefit the big companies that will not be affected by this ban they will benefit from it

I'm guessing that the Russian tankers are leaving the hatch open for one of two, or three, reasons.
One, I wouldn't be SHOCKED if the air conditioning/ventilation system in their tanks um.......SUCKS!
The other possibility is for easy/quick evacuation if they run over a mine. The Ukrainians seem to be VERY adept at "herding" vehicles into land mines. This usually just disables the tank, not destroys it.
The third guess is related to the second: the open hatch releases the pressure during an explosion????? I don't know, I'm not that well versed in the science of explosives.

If you are going to talk about gun export restrictions, please, please, please get the facts right. The initial export ban was a blanket ban for all gun exports to civilian purchasers in all countries. The new rule applies the ban permanently to 36 countries: Bahamas, Bangladesh, Belize, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Chad, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Indonesia, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Malaysia, Mali, Mozambique, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Tajikistan, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda,

We export to El Salvador, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and many others. This new ruling will definitely be a huge problem going forward. Can't find a solution to this at the moment. The main point to restrict these countries was due to diversion of firearms into other countries, terrorism etc. With the duty cost factor in other countries we work with I highly doubt any bad guy will be purchasing a US imported semi-automatic weapon. Im sure there are plenty in the black market already.

Morning boys, the turtle 🐢 shells are in place on those crappy tanks to pre-detonate RPGs and other anti-armor munitions....kind of a stand off device, totally cobbled together as their reactive armor has been exposed as being made of cardboard 😂

    • @jeffhutchins7048
      @jeffhutchins7048 5 місяців тому

Not really, YOU ARE CORRECT that the engineered "cages" are for that BUT these "car ports" are to keep drones out.
You are partially correct that they want to stop the suicide drones from making contact with the actual tank hull as they use a shape charge just like an actual tank killer rocket/missle to get "into" the tank.
HOWEVER, for some reason (crappy Russian Air conditioning/ventilaton) Russian tank crews almost always leave a hatch open.
The Ukrainian drone operators have become so skilled that they can drop a regular old hand grenade right into the hatch, many are US grenades.
They have made a game out of who can make the best/most interesting/difficult shot!

Look up TURTLE TANK videos on UA-cam. The drone/grenade issue IS the reason for the TURTLE TANK. The guys even mentioned it in the video.
I know it seems IMPOSSIBLE but alas, it is not.
Also, if you look there are chains hanging in the openings on either end of many of the TURTLE TANKS.
Those are placed to keep the drones out as well since the Ukrainian drone pilots are skilled enough to fly INTO the shed and STILL drop the grenades.
