Yeah. They got a knack for making the word sound spicey. I been listening to them since the Yellow & Black Attack. I worked in a nightclub back in the 80s and they played their 1st night there on a wednesday. I never heard of them before. I thought they were a little over zealous with all the yellow and black stripes. Robert spent about 2 hrs setting up his drums. That was a show in itself. But man, when they started playing, it blew my socks off.
Stryper did an album titled "The Covering" where they did covers of songs from other bands. Bands they listened to and where influenced by starting out. You can tell they loved these songs and loved these bands. Like Judas Priest, Kansas, Kiss, and even Black Sabbath. They nailed it.

Well. Get your pen ready, because here's a list of STRYPER songs that are just too damn good NOT to listen to. More Than a Man (Classic STRYPER, Riffy) Yahweh (Pure Metal, Riffy) The Valley (Pure Metal, Riffy, a Must-Listen) God Damn Evil Make Love Great Again Do Unto Others (Riffy, Judas Priest-Like) Fallen Pride Big Screen Lies Heaven Let There Be Light The Calling King of Kings Sorry Lost Beautiful Own Up Even The Devil Believes I.G.W.T. (Early 2000s Metal Vibe, but still that STRYPER sound) The Way (there's a good live version "live at the Whiskey" if you'd like) No More Hell To Pay (Riffy) Heaven and Hell (They did a cover of this song by Dio/Black Sabbath, and it's actually solid) Jesus Is Just Alright (Another cover, this time by The Doobie Brothers, but metal :) The Rock That Makes Me Roll (Classic, Riffy) Surrender (Classic, one of my favorite Guitar Solos ever) To Hell With the Devil (known as their biggest hit from back in the 80s) Honestly (slow, ballad, pretty) Breaking the Law (Judas Priest cover) Marching Into Battle (Pure Metal, Riffy) I'm not a diehard Christian, I'm kind of a poor example of one to be honest, but STRYPER has been my favorite Rock/Metal Band ever since the first time I heard them. This band is just so damn good at making some quality metal, and people NEED to know about them. Probably the best Guitarist Duo of any Band I've ever heard, and I've listened to just about anything with an Electric Guitar. They've been around for a long time, and still don't have the following they deserve. Hated by the Church for being too heavy, and too outright, but also hated by the metalheads and rockers because they bring a positive, Christian message to those who don't want to hear it. They don't deserve the hate they get, for as good of music as they produce. Their 80s stuff is classic hair metal, or GLAM Metal. But their newer stuff? Oh man, their newer stuff is just so Riffy. Heavy riffs, superb solos, and still great vocals even after all these years. I've seen them 3 times now in my young life, and will continue to see them every time they come within a 6 hour driving radius. Vocals/Guitarist: Michael Sweet Guitarist: Oz Fox Drummer: Robert Sweet (Michael's brother) Original Bassist (Every Album before the most recent one, which is "Even The Devil Believes," in which "Blood From Above" is from: Tim Gaines Current Bassist: Perry Richardson Sorry for the long read :)
Tracy Ferrie currently with Boston played bass on the Reborn and Murder By Pride albums; former Firehouse bassist Perry Richardson played bass on the previous album God Damn Evil and Even The Devil Believes.
From the 80’s check the song The Way... From recent releases... Yahweh (this one is great!)... and... The Valley. They were born from the LA Glam Rock scene but most of their sound is on traditional heavy metal. In between you will get some hard-rock poppy and ballad songs meant for 80’s MTV. Special thanks, keep rocking!
thanks T, you're 1 i can almost always count on to make laugh! That " bloooood froooom aboooooove!" made me lol. I pictured some fkn idiot saying, " Cool man, is this Slayer??" while passing th joint back.😅🍸🍻
Stryper songs: To Hell with the Devil, Shining Star ( Earth, Wind and Fire cover),Calling on You and so many more great songs.I"ve been listening to them since day one.
STRYPER stands for: salvation through redemption, yielding peace, encouragement and righteousness. Their name is based upon Isaiah 53:5, from when Jesus was whipped: -- "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed."
To Hell With The Devil, The Writings on the Wall, In God We Trust are all solid old school Stryper tracks. Plus their cover of Earth, Wind, & Fire's "Shining Star" is killer!
They were criticized by mainstream for singing about Jesus and were criticized by some Christians for dressing how they dressed and for playing the music that they played
Been a Stryper fan since 84 when the first vinyl came out! Check out do unto others off the same album! It's got a video, best song off that album! Thanks for showing them the respect they have earned!!
Believe it or not if you listen to the words of their songs you can actually find that lyrics of those songs in the Bible itself cause pretty much most of their songs actually come from the Bible for instance one of their albums was based off the book of Isaiah from the Bible which I think is awesome and I love their songs Yahweh, Lost, Big Screen Liars, and The Valley!! 🙂😁🤘👍👍🤘 Rock on Stryper God bless 🙂🙂👍👍
Born in '74, so I was a kid of the 80's when these guys first came out and it was "lame" to listen to them so I never really did until I was much older and yes they are a lot better then they were given credit for
Oh wow, I thought I had all of Stryper's albums! But hearing this is a new song to me- and it rocks just like the Stryper I know! Looking on Wikipedia, I ONLY had Stryper's first 5 albums - I didn't know they had 7 (more than double) albums AFTER that! Take a listen to "To Hell With The Devil". My grandfather, on the White part of my family's side, was pretty cool but still religious (I'm from Texas). So when we were listening to this in his car back in the day, he was like, what's this?! I said, it's cool, they're Christian. So he relented. It, like all (?) the songs on their first five albums, is very good!
So I've been listening to Stryper since The Yellow & Black Attack EP originally came out. They've experimented along the way throughout their career. They've changed with the times. I like where they are now. After you get a good fill of Stryper originals, it would be fun to listen to their album of covers (The Covering) but not yet. For now, try "Rock The Hell Out Of You".
Please react to some Guardian. Power Of Love is a good place to start. They were the 2nd Christian metal band to get MTV play. Its a little more blues based hair metal
Been listening to them and only them since 1984 because there musicianship is that good over the rest out back then and to this day, they are even better. Went platinum with THWTD album in 1988 I believe. They are all great guys and great examples and true to there words and characters as human beings, not your average rockers and the fans are not the average fans. Check out, "Divider", "Do Unto Others", "Always There For You" and "Calling On You" videos, this takes you from the mid 80's to present day 2021 where Stryper is sounding and better that ever. Thanks for your reaction videos of Stryper!
Everytime I watch one of your metal reaction I'm going to say again your NEED to react to the HU. They are a mongolian throat metal group and they will blow your mind.
Most Christian like this, this is mellow Christian music , compared to Christian , Hardcore and punk and thrash metal and Christian death metal this is like Contemporary music lol I am a christian and I have liked them since Yellow and black attack and back then millions of Christians and non christians like them all the way up to today . they were played on bother regular metal radio shows like Metal Shop on KMET in Los Angeles along side Judas Priest , Testament , Megadeth and Merciful fate , etc.. and played on christian stations too . They r a solid band back then I kinda ragged on them for being kind of glam looking although musically more power Metal . I went with my youth group at church in the 80s to see them saw them for " To Hell with the devila nd b4 that to " Soldiers under Command " Tour and even when I fell away from God got into meth and stuff and came back to God I like them after my teen rebellion plus yrs. listen to them off and on . Cool reaction, great band .
Stryper was the band that shouldn't be, the one that snuck through a crack in the door that the music industry had no idea what to think of or how to deal with. When Stryper first started out many clubs at the time would give them some stage time because they were in disbelief that there could be such a thing as metal band that had a Christian message, but then Stryper started packing the clubs and people started to notice, then the lines to get in started stretching for 6 blocks, and a record label noticed and decided to pick them up, and their first single sold 180.000 copies with zero distribution, just based off word of mouth and people hearing them live. More singles got released, then a full album and at that point they could no longer be ignored and the demand for Stryper songs/videos to be played on MTV soared to the point that one off their singles because the most user requested video on MTV for that year. But by then, higher up music industry moguls had also started to notice Stryper as well because of the impact they were having and the moguls who have a lot of control over the music industry did not like the fact that Stryper was putting forth a message which ran opposite of what the music industry was promoting to the youth which was "sex, drugs and rock-n-roll" so it was right when Stryper in the midst of their meteoric rise in the charts that the secular music industry made the decision to put the breaks on Stryper since they couldn't control or manipulate these guys and that represented a threat to them, so the decision was made, and radio stations (networks) all across the country stopped playing Stryper songs and would refuse to give any airtime to any of the new material Stryper was releasing. MTV did the same thing, even though MTV had absolutely no problem and actively promoted metal bands that had clear and overt satanic messages but of course the satanic bands messages did not go againts MTV's agenda like Stryper did. lf you stop and think about it, this was an early version or foreshadowing of what we see happening today with social media that bans and censors anyone and anything that does not go along fully with their own agenda. At the time, for a band, their songs getting radio play and MTV play is what would make or break a band as far as rankings go and making it the top. With radio stations nationwide refusing to play Stryper songs and MTV banning their videos, Stryper suddenly hit the breaks, and none of their subsequent releases (after ln God We Trust) were able to chart as previous releases had since the band was no longer getting any air time. After this happened all Stryper had left was live performances to generate income and became known as an Arena Band in good part because at that point that was about the only way to hear them was playing live and/or buying one of their albums. Before all of the latter took place, Stryper was set to start releasing much higher budget, better produced albums, but all of that vanished once the censoring started since without radio/MTV airtime play, the bucks just weren't there to allow them to do what was planned. lt wasn't too much longer afterwards that Stryper called it quits since not only had the glamour of 80's metal already started to fade but and new genres such as grunge, rap & hip-hop became where the money was at, but by that point Stryper's greatest hits were already 5+ years old and Stryper was slipping in to oblivion as far as the main stream music industry goes. After Stryper called it quits, lead singer Michael Sweet launched his solo career. focusing on more of a pop-rock sound for his solo albums. Michael was always a fan of pop-rock band Bon Jovi and you can hear that influence in his early solo material, but also included some songs that had a more hard rock sound but nothing has heavy as what Stryper had done. Michael's solo career took off but not as Stryper had. Stryper was a message being delivered not to people who go to church but to a world of darkness, for unbelievers and as a counter to the dark/satanic message that had saturated the metal genre at the time, but Michael's solo albums were seeking more of a middle ground, still sending out the message of hope and salvation to the unbelieving world but with his new, less metal more pop-rock sound it ended up hitting big with the Christian world (ie Christian book stores where at the time where a person would go to purchase music by Christian artists) to the point that Michael's debut solo album hit #1 on the charts in Christian contemporary music, selling over 1 million ablums, which in itself was of huge significance because it meant that Michael had broken through the frigid wall of Christian opposition that had fought against Stryper previously simply because at the time of Stryper's stardom there was the erroneous concept amongst many Christians that rock & roll can only be evil and can't be used for good. Stryper were the pioneers that split that damn wide open and once the waters started to flow, a deluge of other Christian bands and artists started to flow through, seeing what Stryper had accomplished, that a band with a Christian message or inspiration can make it to the top, even with the entire industry trying to stop them. But just as metal went from being all the rage in the 80's back to being more of a fringe genre that mainly attracts diehards, so also the music industry lost the deathgrip it once had over new artists and music distribution and that is in good part thanks to the internet and popularity of sites such as UA-cam which has served as a bypass mechanism for artists to be able to present their music to the world regardless of what the moguls at MTV (who are now practically irrelevant, what goes around comes around eh?) and network radio stations. Thus, having this new tool Stryper was reborn so to speak and continue to crank out great hits regardless of the fact that metal songs no longer top the Billboard charts as they once did back in the 80's, Stryper has never the less been able to make things work, even in what now is a fringe genre but one that is still relevant to those who grew up listening to this style and constantly crave for more, not to mention the new generation who are only now "discovering" Stryper thanks to some of Stryper's newest releases. As an interesting tidbit, Stryper's latest release Do Unto Others has been their most successful release ever, ranking in at #1 in the CCM Billboard Charts, a first for the group and astounding considering that this song came out 35 years after Stryper first started making waves. Very few bands in the industry can say the same.
Yeah man, Stryper did get a lot of slack back in the day for their overly Christian and poppy hair metal sound, but since they reformed in the new Millenium here, they've been a solid modern metal group. Michael Sweet has always been a great guitar player and vocalist. And he's the one ripping out those solos.
This song is "ok" in my opinion, just not one of their better ones. I'll stand by my suggestions from the previous reaction. Sympathy is a much better song from their more recent stuff, they also do great covers, you would really enjoy "Jesus is just Alright" or "Shining Star", or you could go with a live version of "In God We Trust" from Budokan 1989.
I didn't watch the vid, but I did see them in concert with my ex-brother in law. He was a big time 'christian rock' fan, as well as being an amazing keyboardist. I did my best to be excited for Stryper, mainly because I'm always open to new music/musicians. However, though I was willing to give the band the opportunity to impress me...They didi not. Lol. I can handle cheesy music, I did survive the 80s after all. Honestly the music wasn't terrible, just not very complex, or interesting. Just cheesy power chords & average talent. It was the preaching that put me off. I'm all for anyone that has beliefs, or ways of thinking that are different than my own, but when I feel like someone is trying ti convince me to change my own beliefs, that's where I have issues. I've been to the heaviest, most brutal shows you can imagine, but when you get knocked down, doesn't matter who you are or what you look like, you will be picked up & helped. Usually helped back into the pit, but I think you get my meaning. At the christian shows, (yes, I've seen several,) the crowd was different. I felt like an outsider, & if there's a moment when the crowd is asked by the band to pray, or praise Jesus, or something of the like, if you're not 'praising' enough, or aren't being christian enough, well, it was just uncomfortable, and the constant barrage of god this, & jesus that, it just gets boring & pushy. I do understand having a message in music, & I do like it when a song puts a spotlight on a particular issue that's been overlooked by the masses. But when every song has the same message, that's not music...that's propaganda. Sorry if this offends anyone, like I said, I have no beef with anyone's belief system, I just prefer to make my own decisions about those things. I don't need a rock band to try to covert me. *This is not a comment meant to trash Stryper, just a recollection of my own experience with them and other bands like them. Ok, rant over... I swear I'm gonna try to get those requests in tonight...I think I got a couple good ideas for videos, but I'll explain on Patreon. Catch ya later T! Fyi, I will watch your reaction to Stryper, just because it's your video. I will keep my mind open, but I'm betting I'm gonna cringe! Lol. 🤘🤪

I.G.W.T. (Early 2000s Metal Vibe, but still that STRYPER sound)
The Way (there's a good live version "live at the Whiskey" if you'd like)
No More Hell To Pay (Riffy)
Heaven and Hell (They did a cover of this song by Dio/Black Sabbath, and it's actually solid)
Jesus Is Just Alright (Another cover, this time by The Doobie Brothers, but metal :)
The Rock That Makes Me Roll (Classic, Riffy)
Surrender (Classic, one of my favorite Guitar Solos ever)
To Hell With the Devil (known as their biggest hit from back in the 80s)
Honestly (slow, ballad, pretty)
Breaking the Law (Judas Priest cover)
Marching Into Battle (Pure Metal, Riffy)
I'm not a diehard Christian, I'm kind of a poor example of one to be honest, but STRYPER has been my favorite Rock/Metal Band ever since the first time I heard them.
Vocals/Guitarist: Michael Sweet
Guitarist: Oz Fox
Drummer: Robert Sweet (Michael's brother)
Original Bassist (Every Album before the most recent one, which is "Even The Devil Believes," in which "Blood From Above" is from: Tim Gaines
Current Bassist: Perry Richardson
Sorry for the long read :)
Tracy Ferrie currently with Boston played bass on the Reborn and Murder By Pride albums; former Firehouse bassist Perry Richardson played bass on the previous album God Damn Evil and Even The Devil Believes.
Michael sweet was the lead singer for Boston for a short time a little while back.
SURRENDER!!!!! ALL are great songs, but I would love to see him and his wife listen to SURRENDER!!!!
Man thanks for sharing that 👍👍👍👍
@@mikenastasi8927 also Tim did NOT play on To Hell With the Devil.
Twilight of the Thunder God!! Amon Amarth!! Heavy Shit
How do you feel about their message? Do the lyrics have any impact in your life?
Yes.
Yep, solid song once again
🤘🤘🤘
From the 80’s check the song The Way... From recent releases... Yahweh (this one is great!)... and... The Valley. They were born from the LA Glam Rock scene but most of their sound is on traditional heavy metal. In between you will get some hard-rock poppy and ballad songs meant for 80’s MTV. Special thanks, keep rocking!
thanks T, you're 1 i can almost always count on to make laugh! That " bloooood froooom aboooooove!" made me lol. I pictured some fkn idiot saying, " Cool man, is this Slayer??" while passing th joint back.😅🍸🍻
Stryper songs: To Hell with the Devil, Shining Star ( Earth, Wind and Fire cover),Calling on You and so many more great songs.I"ve been listening to them since day one.
another great review...just a side note...That high note at the end is not falsetto!! I know, it's insane!! Great tune
STRYPER stands for: salvation through redemption, yielding peace, encouragement and righteousness. Their name is based upon Isaiah 53:5, from when Jesus was whipped:
-- "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed."
Stryker -Do Unto Others . The video
Dope ass are two nouns. They are not adjectives.
T, check the new video for the song transgressor. You will love it.
I’ll my reaction to it tomorrow
Judas Priest "Screaming for Vengeance"...Robs vocals are insane
RAINING BLOOOOOOOOD... oh sorry, wrong band.
Raining Blood from Above
Hahahahahahahahahh..... bro.. I just spit out my coffee... lol, hahahhahaha.. damn I wish I would've thought about that on camera.
To Hell With The Devil and In God We Trust.
You should react to murder by pride sing and listen to album.. chill inducing by stryper
If you don't want to get a speeding ticket don't listen to this stryper song while driving your fast sports car ok...the song is called The Way
Please react to some Guardian. Power Of Love is a good place to start. They were the 2nd Christian metal band to get MTV play. Its a little more blues based hair metal
Wanna hear something heavy listen to Yahweh(Crucifixion of Christ) The Valley or Take It To The Cross by Stryper. Three of their heaviest songs!
Yahweh, KING OF Kings
I would like to see you do a reaction to "Honestly" Its very different to the other stuff you reacted to by them.
A couple other Christian metal bands you should check out...Tourniquet and Deliverance.
Hello sir since you like this you should really look into DELIVERANCE weapons of our warfare
Do some ballads honestly or I believe in you
Yeah man, Stryper did get a lot of slack back in the day for their overly Christian and poppy hair metal sound, but since they reformed in the new Millenium here, they've been a solid modern metal group. Michael Sweet has always been a great guitar player and vocalist. And he's the one ripping out those solos.
Do unto others react please
To hell with the devil
not falsetto....
what's wrong with God? Believing in him?
This song is "ok" in my opinion, just not one of their better ones. I'll stand by my suggestions
from the previous reaction. Sympathy is a much better song from their more recent stuff,
they also do great covers, you would really enjoy "Jesus is just Alright" or "Shining Star",
or you could go with a live version of "In God We Trust" from Budokan 1989.
Lol. 🤘🤪
lol
@@TheAdventuresofTNT A bit of a rant, sorry 'bout that. I get worked up on occasion, lol. 🤘🙃
Must be my meds. 🤪
