  • I used to VLOG on a Joby Gorillapod because Casey Neistat used to always use it, but I find it didn't work too well with my setup so I resorted to something else.

@@TWC12345 Sorry for the Ultra Super Duper Late Reply but YES the Joby would be really good with a small point and shoot camera. Might actually be too big for it.

Thanks for the vid. As a long time tripod user was wondering whether I was missing something without a Joby! About the only argument I can think of for the Joby is the ability for it to wrap around poles...trees etc...ie. places above ground...for most common scenarios I think you're right. Great editing btw....made a tripod review very entertaining. Thanks.

I have the 3K and use it with an A7ii. I don't use it on glass but on any random surface outdoors and it works great. Only problem is the non-standard clip it uses on the ballhead which is a bummer. The 5K uses an Arca Swiss compatible so if you are between 3K and 5K with a ballhead, then get the 5K.

Majin Morris ahhh it all makes sense now. Yeah it really depends on if your camera is heavy or not. My lenses are really heavy which make the Joby not too good. If you got a smaller camera you should still be golden on a Joby

I got rid of my Gorillapod right away (years ago). Yes, you can hang it from a branch if that's your thing. The Switchpod, is also in the "garbage" category (speaking only for myself). The Manfrotto Pixi EVO is a great solution, and way less awkward as a handle (vlogging).

FrogyProd you need a small lens and a battery grip which you may see under a 1DX MK2

Because of Casey, I bought the 80D. And I have a lot of buyer's remorse. It's actually slightly noisier in low light than the 70D, M5, and 77D. The battery life for video is like an hour and a half at most. The color seems to be not as good as the 70D. And I'm realizing that Canon is not interested in producing high end EF-S lenses that would be smaller and more convenient to carry around. I have a few f/1.2 and f/1.4 glass for my Panasonic m4/3 system which easily beats any Canon EF-S glass in light and shallow DOF performance.

So what did you own before the 80D you bought? Your making it sound like you came from a 70d?? I mean the the 80d should be the better camera, but sometimes things happen where the newer product isn't as good as what it's trying to replace. This might be the case with the 80d. It's just like the Sony VX1000 being far superior from a VX2000 that came out years later

Good to know. I own the 70D and wanted to upgrade to the 80D for the 60fps 1080, but this gives me second thoughts.
