It’s worth noting that after Bayonetta 1 and 2 merge with Cereza (Bayo 3), they unmerge for an attack, and then they disappear, presumably back to their own worlds, because the disappearance effect is completely different to when someone dies. So the other Bayonettas we played as in 1 and 2 are likely still alive and kicking.
@@alexandrocorona9283 i think the bayo 1 feels more like bloody fate variant though but still, they're pretty much like peter parkers but plucked from different worlds. besides cerezita is deadass sitting in inferno, not entirely dead or sent to eternal damnation. so all things considered, it's pretty much a vacation for the two. esp when rodin kinda confirms that luka and bayo are checking up on their adopted child (my assumption is whittingham fair is viola's mom)
I assumed because Rodin can travel back and forth through inferno, he can still keep in contact with Bayo and Luka. Hence why he’s referring to Viola’s “pops”
But we gotta remember that when the same thing happened to Jeanne, she had only a limited time to be recued before her sould was completely "assimilated" by inferno, or something like that. And besides, when that happened, her Umbran watch was still intact which is what helped her sould go back to her body.... Sooooo.... Who's to say how much time those two have left.
No, I think the stinger is definitely a a different reality where Cereza and Luka are alive. Enzo's family is still alive, unlike at the beginning of the game.
@@saramations Could be but remember that Rodin comes from Paradiso and the game goes out of its way to tell you that the multiverse stuff only applies to the World of Chaos and that there is only one Rodin in existence as a result. At most they could have relocated to another universe but there is still only one Inferno.
What if Madama Butterfly protects Bayo’s soul while down in Inferno? It’s implied that their bond is more than just a contract between witch and demon and possibly some form of friendship.
I see no reason why it’s not possible but remember in Bayonetta two Jeanne was not being held captive by her contracted demon I think it depends on who gets there first

All those other Bayonettas had their own unique charms. Watching them each die felt like someone in charge of the game just wanted her to canonically die repeatedly. And that final death was... TTnTT
I'm fine as long as A) The Bayonettas from the other universes, primarily Bayonetta 2, are alive and well And B) Playable Cereza if Viola takes the lead role. Perhaps we could even see her thriving down in Inferno as a mob queen

Bayonetta (Cereza) is such a unique character.. No other character is like her. While I do LOVE Viola and her personality, I just can't see her as *the* Bayonetta.. The ending left me in tears, but they could've maybe not killed off one of the most iconic character, just to have Viola be the main protagonist. I just want Bayo back.
I took Rodin's comment about her father as proof that Luka and Cereza are still in Inferno, since Rodin still goes down there to make new weapons or to let off some steam. I can imagine Rodin working with them to take down some demons for weapons while casually chatting about how Viola's doing, with Luka focused more on her education and Cereza focused more on her battles.
I believe that bayonetta 4 is setting up for Viola to save bayonetta and Luka,it seems she staying in that world, Rindo can still communicate with them with them by calling Luka her pops, it seems they adopted her.

I really don't like Viola replacing Cereza. I played the games for Cereza becuase she's likeable and unique in my opinion. Viola is just cringey and uninteresting to me.
I don't like the ending, but the writers must have known that many would hate this ending. I will respect the writers choice because they might have big plans for a possible 4th game, but there are going to be a lot of problems caused mostly by the fanbase. We've always followed a version of Cereza "Bayonetta" who fans had grown to love, and now we have Viola "Bayonetta", a punk teen who has a unique style from Cereza but not as elegant or flirty as her mom. People are just going to hate having Viola taking the spotlight in the next game where they think Cereza should be because they have already grown to love Cereza "Bayonetta" for various reasons, and we have just met Viola for the first time in this game. Viola is funny, but I found Viola's first impression before becoming the future Bayonetta is also going to throw people off the boat
hard agree - theyve tried to make a totally different character/personality - Viola suddenly replace the main character - Bayonetta who was developed over 3 games - in the last 5 minutes of the ending, especially when the whole game clearly showed how different both characters were. Not to mention Bayonetta has a huge legacy/personality to live up to... Do NOT see it working out
I quite enjoy Viola's setup for a character but she needs to be ironed out more to be very likeable. Changing protagonists is possible if done correctly, it just depends on what they do with Cereza in the next game. Nero becoming the main protagonist for DMC while Dante is more iconic was a big reach but they pulled it off. If they keep Cereza prominent and playable for the older fans while also expanding violas personality and playstyle for new comers, it could make for a master piece of a game like DMC 5 turned out to be. In the end though, bayonetta is like dmc, you can't have bayonetta without cereza like you can't have dmc without dante.
Maybe if Viola gets a new design that’s closer to her motherss that would be nice. She is young. Hence why she acts so immature so maybe she grows up and takes after her mother a little while still having her own unique personality

I’m fine with Viola being the protagonist of a future game but I feel like Bayonetta, Jeanne and Luka didn’t have to die, you can still have Viola be the main character and just have Bayonetta be busy with something else or just give her a smaller role like with Dante in Dmc 4

I think the other universes did actually come back after getting destroyed since Singularity mentioned that. Which means the damage that was done has been undone so that MIGHT mean Cereza, Jeanne, and Luka will make an appearance in Bayo 4
Idk, all other bayonettas from the different universes never got dragged into hell when they turned into light, I think they’re all back in their respective universes but Cereza from bayonetta 3 is deffo in inferno as we saw her get dragged down, there is a way out though as we currently know from Bayonetta 2
Jeanne I believe we will see again. Because it seems to be heavily implied that Singularity being destroyed reset the Multiverse, undoing the deaths of all he killed. We won't see Cereza or Luka (at least in this plane of existence) because their circumstances are different. Jeanne was killed by Singularity. Cereza was killed by Gomorrah. And Luka went with her. So when Bayonetta 4 drops in 2032, I expect to see Auntie Jeanne there helping Viola grow into the role.

If Bayonetta 4 is a game without Cereza as the main playable character, I can't see the series staying alive. Having Viola in her own spinoff game, or as a second playable character in Bayonetta 4 can work
I'm sure a bunch of people have already pointed this out but the whole 'fate can never tear us apart' and 'we find each other whenever she needs us' stuff seems like some pretty serious foreshadowing/posterior covering if the ending isn't well received.

This was my first & strongest reaction to ending the finale. Cereza as concept & character is the entire driving force of the franchise, and the reason I come back to it. I like Viola, but not as a protagonist...
I found this ending pretty shocking but I warmed to it very quickly when I thought about how much the series has already been about generational mother daughter power with a side order of possessed fathers. I look forward to more with Viola as the main though I hope they add witch time to her dodge as well as her block.
If they can somehow do that where Witch Time can be activated via dodge and block, then I'm game (though I still miss Cereza). My comment I made earlier still stands though.

with how they have set it up, it feels very much like dm3, 4 and 5 with Nero being the main focus with Dante being a supporting character. so i could see them taking the same route.
And it’s actually very similar to DMC, with Devil May Cry being Dante’s business but he shifted to supporting character even though the game was still named based on him.

I was always under the impression that strong umbran witches became infernal demons through might and prowess. I mean Madama Butterfly’s in-game lore stated that she used to be human until she met an untimely fate. It’d be quite the sequel if there is a Bayo 4, Viola becomes a proper Umbran Witch and somehow gains a contract with an Infernal Demon who just happens to be her Mummy~
my thoughts on the 3 bayonettas: I already feel so confused, probably due to overthinking on the multiple timelines and how they interact with the chronological order of the series before previous game protagonists made a cameo in this game. In a way, the purple bayonetta is somehow the red bayonetta's past self yet mysteriously still has the left eye in this point in time. And then there is the blue bayonetta being the red bayonetta's not-long-after future self especially after defeating Balder and later destroying the eyes. I hope someone makes a multiverse timeline map video after this... (0w0uuu)

Though I kinda doubt it because the beginning of Bayo 2 would confirm that Father Baldur was being possed by Loptr or evil Aesir, and the events of Bayonetta 2 explains why Baldur from Bayo 1 is warped. Meaning they are the same timeline, if they weren't multiverse theory would dictate that the events that Loptr created wouldn't be true in Bayo 2 or 1 unless Rosa death in 1 is completely unrelated to Loptr, and Bayo 2 is a timeline purely created due to Loptrs interference in events, and Baldur in Bayo 1 was just evil, rather then possessed.
@@rorrim0 I still see Bayo 1 and 2 as the same timeline, possibly different points that they branch from, at most but the events that shaped those variants are still 1 and the same. Platinum still could have written it better but they are still the same character from 1 and 2.
I could see them giving Viola the same treatment Devil May Cry did with Nero, not necessarily the new sole protagonist but definitely the more centrally focused one.
I hope so bro, it will be a reminiscent of the 2nd instalment, where Cereza rescued Jeanne from Inferno but only this time its Viola's turn. And who knows, maybe Jeanne might appear somewhere along her journey to assist her. I doubt that Jeanne really died.

Viola could work as a main protagonist in a DLC not yet on a mainline game she's still too new and needs more time to grow unlike Nero from DMC who has 2 games under his belt and has been known for over a decade. I highly doubt Viola could carry a game without Cereza and alot of fans didn't like the ending so I wouldn't be surprised if Cereza still ends up being the main protagonist in 4 and I would be in shock if this isn't the case.

her “needing daddy’s help” was just her tapping into her faerie genes, not contracting luka as a demon. i don’t doubt that she’ll be able to legitimately call on them at some point though, or at least use madama butterfly’s power, probably under the pretense of butterfly doing her comrade the favor of helping out her daughter
That's not how it works though. The lore is that if you have a contract with inferno, when you die your soul is dragged there and you are defenseless prey for the demons, and when one inevitably eats you up you're gone for good.
My understanding is, the worlds that existed got destroyed, the only bayonettas that made it was B1 and B2 and B3, B1 and B2 merged with B3 completely erasing B1 and B2 after defeating singularity therefore theres only one Bayonetta now and she got pulled to inferno with luka... I don't really call it a death because she didn't turn into that gem and break, and since the last Jeanne actually died (didn't get pulled into inferno) her existence is gone for good, so my theory is simple, Luka says something the likes of when viola needs them she always find both him and bayonetta, watch Viola pull them out of inferno lol. So when it was Bayonetta and Jeanne, it's now gonna be Viola and Bayonetta.
I don't know about the other universes being destroyed. Specially since in cereza and viola's world the qesir still exist. Also, I think Luka and cereal are chilling in hell, literally

I'm about as big of a Bayonetta fan as they come. I was very skeptical about Bayonetta sharing the spotlight with Viola fearing that she'd be like reboot Dante from DMC but I was pleasantly surprised. I found Viola very likable endearing. She wants to be tough like her mother but she's goofy like her father. I think it works. I went into Bayonetta 3 believing it would be the end of the series so to see that Platinum wants to start a new era of Bayonetta, personally I find that very exciting. I think Viola has a lot of potential as a young witch with a lot to learn that just wants to be like her mummy no different from little Cerrza in Bayonetta 1. Motherhood has always been a strong theme of the series so Cereza passing the torch to here daughter is a very beautiful end to the trilogy. In conclusion the original trilogy will always will always be incredible and I trust Platinum to make something special for the next generation.
I like it if they decide to make Viola as MC in the next game, as we will follow her journey to become a powerful witch like her mother, also...maybe they will explain her power and explore it, plus kinda love seeing Luka doing his shinanigan again and help his daughter in fight at later chapter
I don't understand why this "passing of the torch" direction was necessary. Bayonetta felt like the type of series where you could just keep making new wacky, zany stories as an excuse for over the top action. Why did it suddenly go into the Batman Arkham Knight route?
So they basically DMC4'd us but instead of Vergil's kid taking his uncle's place, it's gonna be Bayo's world displaced daughter going forward (at least until Cereza Bayo comes back) It should be noted, people HATED how DMC4 changed the protagonist to Nero for a vast portion of the game and he wasn't really redeemed to the fandom until DMC5. Viola may grow on the community eventually, but considering just how different she is both tonally and and aesthetically, that will likely be a long time coming... maybe Bayonetta 5.
Actually I would really like to see Viola be the new protagonist for at least one game. Not to replace Bayonetta entirely but I really want see how Bayonetta became ultra sexy badass that she is known for (cause there’s no way that she went from crybaby to slam dunking gods in a day) and using Viola is a good idea because 1. She’ll show how Bayonetta became so powerful and 2. Using her instead of Bayonetta is great way to show off her goofy and inexperienced side without ruining Bayonetta reputation.

I prefer playing as Cereza because I want to feel like a badass girlboss that doesn't have to give up her femininity to make a change but instead use it as a driving force to kick ass. Viola is just badass. Plus activating Viola's witch time is different to Cereza's which they had you master for 3 games. It's like they want to shove down a DMC character down our throats since it's a more popular franchise. Them killing off Cereza means the death of Bayonetta for me.
What I found interesting was that TWO Bayonetta's join Cereza in her final fight against singularity. I always assumed that the Bayonetta we played as in the first game is the exact same Bayonetta we go on to play as in the second game-- simply after a number of months have passed. The events of Bayonetta 1 seem to lead into the events of Bayonetta 2-- while at the same time, the events we see play out in Bayonetta 2 seem to paradoxically set the events of the first game into motion. As such, I assumed that Bayonetta 2's protagonist is simply the same witch, only now a veteran who's learned and grown stronger-- changing her style to match that growth after discovering herself in the events of the first game. But then we see that there were separate Bayonetta's for 1 and 2 respectively? And even the Bayonetta that was slain at the beginning of this game was also a separate Bayonetta? This is how these multiverse stories can become very messy, very quickly. Seeing the Bayonetta from 1 and from 2 make separate appearances as two different heroes somehow smacks of retcon. . .
It's definitely messy. The way I understand it, the Bayo we play as in 1+2 is the same one, represented by "Bayo 2". Cereza sent back to the past in the first game becomes "Bayo 1", and the protagonist here comes from a slightly different universe... For some reason.
We know the Bayonetta featured in 2 also experienced the events of 1, because she references them multiple times, and she also references her previous appearance by calling out her "new haircut"... The character bios in 3 say that "Bayo 1" experienced hardships that 3's did not, presumably referring to that Cereza never getting sealed. They also state that "Bayo 2" has walked a path almost identical to 3.
I KNEW Viola was Bayonetta’s daughter. It’s so obvious because of how similar she is to both Bayonetta and Luka. She straight up just inherited Luka’s personality.

I thought Rodin referring to Luka being mad at Viola skipping school was because Rodin has access to the real gates of hell, and presumably stays in touch with Bayo and Luka from there.
This is the case. By the end of the game, Luka contains the essence of every one of himself across the multiverse (this is what Lukaon refers to as gathering all the arch-adams). There is no alternate Luka to be alive outside of Inferno here 😅
So... but what I understand, this lore competes with complexity with Kingdom Hearts, Kirby, Zelda, and Fnaf... When you said that Bayonetta was actually Ceraza, it absolutely shocked me. Is this gonna be like Castlevania? Where the name "Bayonetta" is one to be earned? Especially like Lord's of Shadow, where Gabriel earned his right to be called a "Belmont". So since this a pretty crazy comparison, would people hate me if I said Viola can be Bayos echo for Smash?

I swear to god, fuckin' gomorrah causes more problems than he solves. Okay, so, there's an obvious parallel to draw here, between Bayonetta and Devil May Cry. Devil May Cry 4 introduced Nero, a new, younger, much less experienced Devil Hunter than Dante; And here we have Viola, a new, younger, much less experienced Witch than Cereza. The difference between them, is in DMC4, you play as Nero for more than half the game; the first 13 missions out of 20. In many ways, DMC4 is Nero's game; One of the plot's primary questions is, "Hey, just who's this kid, anyway?" and the game ANSWERS that question. Nero is a guy who passionately cares about the people around him and will stop at nothing to keep those he considers his friends safe, even if that includes making an enemy out of the entire rest of the world, and if we look at DMC5, even if that includes beating the crap out of them to stop their self-destructive behaviors. Meanwhile, in Bayonetta 3, out of 14 chapters, you play as Viola in... like three of them? Like... I DO like what little we saw of Viola, she's endearing in a lot of ways that Cereza kinda just isn't, but I wish we had had more time to get to know her, and they hadn't spent so much time going, "Hey, look at how much of a clumsy goober she is like her father! *clown emoji."* Like... you can make a character who's not so casually badass as Cereza is without making them an absolute clown. I feel like in more ways, this was "Cereza's last game," and it does ask the question, "Who's this Viola chick?" but it's answer is... "Cereza and Luka's daughter", but since they spent so little time setting Viola up, like... where do we GO from here?
If Platinum really plans to "replace" Cereza (or any other Bayonetta) with Viola then 4 will absolutely flop. Viola is a VERY far cry from the Bayonetta we got to know in 2009 and grew attached to. Even if Viola grows more confident and gets more skilled and such, there is no way she can top anything the Bayos do with her inherent clumsiness she got from Luka. That, plus a lot of fans don't like the sword, they don't take Cheshire seriously as a demon, they don't like Violas look, the list goes on. Bayonetta games should have Bayonetta as their protagonist. And Viola inheriting this name for some reason doesn't count.

I just finished the game, I just came here to mention that all of that was unexpected and that's what makes it special to me, I love Bayonetta 3, waiting eagerly for the next iteration!
I hope Viola isn't the sole protag in the next Bayonetta. She was cringe af in this game. Cerera and Luka kicking in Inferno since Rodin keeps in contact with them. Viola needs to not be so over the top clumsy. Luka's clumsiness was less frequent and not his whole character.
First of all, I personally don't think this Bayonetta 3 plot should be set in the multiverse as the main theme. If Platinum didn't do it, those protagonists would still be alive. What im confused about is, how are all 3 bayos from different universes? Since young cereza’s exposure to bayo1 was supposed to be pivotal in balders plan to awaken bayo1’s eye, shouldnt bayo1 be the same as this bayo2 (and bayo3 since you said it yourself that bayo3 is the same cereza)? Sure the timeline was rewritten, but it was still bound to bayo 1’s universe, otherwise balders plan and the entire bayo 2 never would have happened.
That’s what’s so confusing to me too. Lore-wise, it’s possible the Bayo 2 we saw was the RoT Bayo we saw in the second game, but that’s unlikely. It also wouldn’t make sense for our OG Bayo to go back to her first outfit, and her journal description has no mention of the events in the second game either. Most likely it was just fan-service by Kamiya, but it would’ve been nice to know what those two were up to during this whole game.
It’s very possible they got ripped at specific part’s during their timeline. Like pink hair ceraza was in the middle of the bayonetta 2 prologue when we met her
They are from different parallel worlds where the events from Bayonetta 1 and 2 were happening, but Singularity then came in and wiped them out. They are not exactly the ones we controlled in those games, but they are identical in every regard.

I get that they maybe want to move Viola in the same way as they did with Nero. But tbf I like Bayonetta (cereza) as a character way more as a protagonist. She just feels more unique and authentic. But we’ll see what they give us next, if anything at all.
We had to build off the first game to grow to love her thats why. They will not just dump her as is KNOWING how much people like her. The sales of this definitely makes the next possible. I am going to suspend everything until then. This is the most fun I had in all 3 games so it was not a waste for me in that alone. I say imma wait . If anything just pretend the 2nd game was the end. All 3 are standalones to me storywise. It toon the next to add to it ya know?

Unpopular opinion: I like Viola taking up the mantle and the idea of there BEING a mantle. Bayonetta was a name given to Cereza that showed that she’s a tough Umbra witch and it’s assumed that that’s something she had to earn. It’d be awesome to see Viola grow into not a copy of Bayo, but her own Bayonetta. In the way Spider-Man says “Anyone can wear the mask” I feel like anyone can be Bayonetta if they’re enough of a bad bitch💅🏾

Right now, after this injustice, it is clear that Platinum only wanted to make more profit at the extend of quality and support. They wanted to get rid of Bayonetta after the 2nd game as seen in the 2017 trailer.
@@Aquaria2099 I have seen Jeanne having better swordsmanship skills than her. We have been partially fooled but not completely by Platinum. When they kill Jeanne, that was bad but sending Cereza to hell, that is the final straw, they have crossed the line.
Viola could absolutely NEVER replace Bayonetta and I'm actually irritated the writers went that route of trying to "pass it on" as a name... especially trying to introduce the idea in the last 5 minutes of the game that Viola is going to replace Bayonetta and is her daughter out of NOWHERE (though people could argue they did see the mother-daughter reveal coming). Bayonetta has been an established character for 13 years and the last 5 minutes of the ending completely throw that out the window.... Very unhappy with the deaths/points mentioned, though the writers were probably trying to keep everyone on their toes and everything as fresh as possible to keep the future of the franchise going. Viola's whole personality was supposed to be comedic/unpolished just like a typical side character so I do noooot see that continuing on as the titular character OR living up to the Bayonetta the fans know and love.
I know Bayo fans really just appreciate a new game actually being released and it's not known for its amazing storylines but where tf did Viola even come from... she really came out of nowhere and is supposed to be accepted as Bayonetta/Luka's daughter with no backstory by fans.... also big plothole/turnoff for me
No one can ever be bayonetta except for cereza, sorry but the fighting style of viola isn’t that much fun. She can be a side character sure, but bayonetta is not bayonetta without cereza.
The only issue I have with Viola is the Witch Time on block. If she learns to dodge like her Mum, I'm all in to try it with Viola. But Bayonetta Will Always be Cereza for us
Honestly, I was kinda in shock and sad to See cereza die. But honestly, i liked how she was both "Bayonetta" AND Cereza, a Mom. I really enjoyed Bayonetta 3 and I am looking Forward to a Bayonetta 4!
We were having fun with the game until the ending. It's too grim dark and depressing, for no reason; unsatisfying. I don't understand why everyone had to die just to leave viola behind.... Call me traditional but I'd prefer if it was happier and everything was restored and Viola was sent back to her own time or something. The narrative was pretty weak overall, but the ending was unnecessarily cruel. I think Viola is okay, but not "Bayonetta" worthy. Sorry, but Kamiya really messed up on this scenario.
I’ve been so confused since beating the game on that scene with the 3 bayos, but it makes so much sense that the other 2 are the same one and this one is the one who grew up after the events of the first game
This isn't just jumping the shark this lighting the shark on fire, it's teeth are made of chainsaws and jumping it with a falling apart rusted metal panel aka this was ridiculously over the top and I don't think most people are going to be happy with this ending

Great video as usual! So this is the ending most outlets are saying betrayed Bayonetta’s character but it’s an alt bayo. Bayo 1&2 at the end makes me wish Helena Taylor had just done the cameo without all the mess of her videos. And it’s Not Bayonetta without Bayonetta so I hope Viola isn’t the main protagonists after this!
It’s worth noting that after Bayonetta 1 and 2 merge with Cereza (Bayo 3), they unmerge for an attack, and then they disappear, presumably back to their own worlds, because the disappearance effect is completely different to when someone dies. So the other Bayonettas we played as in 1 and 2 are likely still alive and kicking.

I assumed because Rodin can travel back and forth through inferno, he can still keep in contact with Bayo and Luka. Hence why he’s referring to Viola’s “pops”
But we gotta remember that when the same thing happened to Jeanne, she had only a limited time to be recued before her sould was completely "assimilated" by inferno, or something like that. And besides, when that happened, her Umbran watch was still intact which is what helped her sould go back to her body.... Sooooo.... Who's to say how much time those two have left.

At most they could have relocated to another universe but there is still only one Inferno.

That ending was bad for my heart! Seeing all the other Bayos die was hard enough then Cereza and Luka dragged to hell damn near destroyed me.

Bayonetta (Cereza) is such a unique character.. No other character is like her. While I do LOVE Viola and her personality, I just can't see her as *the* Bayonetta.. The ending left me in tears, but they could've maybe not killed off one of the most iconic character, just to have Viola be the main protagonist. I just want Bayo back.
I took Rodin's comment about her father as proof that Luka and Cereza are still in Inferno, since Rodin still goes down there to make new weapons or to let off some steam. I can imagine Rodin working with them to take down some demons for weapons while casually chatting about how Viola's doing, with Luka focused more on her education and Cereza focused more on her battles.
I kinda want it ti be inversed, with Bayonetta being more worried about viola being an A+ student and luka wanting her to becone stron like her mummy.

I don't like the ending, but the writers must have known that many would hate this ending. I will respect the writers choice because they might have big plans for a possible 4th game, but there are going to be a lot of problems caused mostly by the fanbase. We've always followed a version of Cereza "Bayonetta" who fans had grown to love, and now we have Viola "Bayonetta", a punk teen who has a unique style from Cereza but not as elegant or flirty as her mom. People are just going to hate having Viola taking the spotlight in the next game where they think Cereza should be because they have already grown to love Cereza "Bayonetta" for various reasons, and we have just met Viola for the first time in this game. Viola is funny, but I found Viola's first impression before becoming the future Bayonetta is also going to throw people off the boat
I feel like it's going to be like for Naruto: most of the old fans will stop playing the games and a new fanbase will take over. 🙁

I quite enjoy Viola's setup for a character but she needs to be ironed out more to be very likeable. Changing protagonists is possible if done correctly, it just depends on what they do with Cereza in the next game. Nero becoming the main protagonist for DMC while Dante is more iconic was a big reach but they pulled it off. If they keep Cereza prominent and playable for the older fans while also expanding violas personality and playstyle for new comers, it could make for a master piece of a game like DMC 5 turned out to be. In the end though, bayonetta is like dmc, you can't have bayonetta without cereza like you can't have dmc without dante.

I think the other universes did actually come back after getting destroyed since Singularity mentioned that. Which means the damage that was done has been undone so that MIGHT mean Cereza, Jeanne, and Luka will make an appearance in Bayo 4
Idk, all other bayonettas from the different universes never got dragged into hell when they turned into light, I think they’re all back in their respective universes but Cereza from bayonetta 3 is deffo in inferno as we saw her get dragged down, there is a way out though as we currently know from Bayonetta 2

Jeanne I believe we will see again. Because it seems to be heavily implied that Singularity being destroyed reset the Multiverse, undoing the deaths of all he killed. We won't see Cereza or Luka (at least in this plane of existence) because their circumstances are different. Jeanne was killed by Singularity. Cereza was killed by Gomorrah. And Luka went with her. So when Bayonetta 4 drops in 2032, I expect to see Auntie Jeanne there helping Viola grow into the role.

If Bayonetta 4 is a game without Cereza as the main playable character, I can't see the series staying alive.

I'm sure a bunch of people have already pointed this out but the whole 'fate can never tear us apart' and 'we find each other whenever she needs us' stuff seems like some pretty serious foreshadowing/posterior covering if the ending isn't well received.

I was always under the impression that strong umbran witches became infernal demons through might and prowess. I mean Madama Butterfly’s in-game lore stated that she used to be human until she met an untimely fate. It’d be quite the sequel if there is a Bayo 4, Viola becomes a proper Umbran Witch and somehow gains a contract with an Infernal Demon who just happens to be her Mummy~

my thoughts on the 3 bayonettas: I already feel so confused, probably due to overthinking on the multiple timelines and how they interact with the chronological order of the series before previous game protagonists made a cameo in this game. In a way, the purple bayonetta is somehow the red bayonetta's past self yet mysteriously still has the left eye in this point in time. And then there is the blue bayonetta being the red bayonetta's not-long-after future self especially after defeating Balder and later destroying the eyes. I hope someone makes a multiverse timeline map video after this... (0w0uuu)

@@acedragon0429 They can be? Though I kinda doubt it because the beginning of Bayo 2 would confirm that Father Baldur was being possed by Loptr or evil Aesir, and the events of Bayonetta 2 explains why Baldur from Bayo 1 is warped.
Meaning they are the same timeline, if they weren't multiverse theory would dictate that the events that Loptr created wouldn't be true in Bayo 2 or 1 unless Rosa death in 1 is completely unrelated to Loptr, and Bayo 2 is a timeline purely created due to Loptrs interference in events, and Baldur in Bayo 1 was just evil, rather then possessed.

Viola could work as a main protagonist in a DLC not yet on a mainline game she's still too new and needs more time to grow unlike Nero from DMC who has 2 games under his belt and has been known for over a decade. I highly doubt Viola could carry a game without Cereza and alot of fans didn't like the ending so I wouldn't be surprised if Cereza still ends up being the main protagonist in 4 and I would be in shock if this isn't the case.

her “needing daddy’s help” was just her tapping into her faerie genes, not contracting luka as a demon. i don’t doubt that she’ll be able to legitimately call on them at some point though, or at least use madama butterfly’s power, probably under the pretense of butterfly doing her comrade the favor of helping out her daughter
That's not how it works though. The lore is that if you have a contract with inferno, when you die your soul is dragged there and you are defenseless prey for the demons, and when one inevitably eats you up you're gone for good.
Nice idea, could be an unlockable mechanic. Tho that ending she refered to her fairy blood from Luka. She gets powers from both sides.
My understanding is, the worlds that existed got destroyed, the only bayonettas that made it was B1 and B2 and B3, B1 and B2 merged with B3 completely erasing B1 and B2 after defeating singularity therefore theres only one Bayonetta now and she got pulled to inferno with luka... I don't really call it a death because she didn't turn into that gem and break, and since the last Jeanne actually died (didn't get pulled into inferno) her existence is gone for good, so my theory is simple, Luka says something the likes of when viola needs them she always find both him and bayonetta, watch Viola pull them out of inferno lol. So when it was Bayonetta and Jeanne, it's now gonna be Viola and Bayonetta.
I don't know about the other universes being destroyed. Specially since in cereza and viola's world the qesir still exist.

I'm about as big of a Bayonetta fan as they come. I was very skeptical about Bayonetta sharing the spotlight with Viola fearing that she'd be like reboot Dante from DMC but I was pleasantly surprised. I found Viola very likable endearing. She wants to be tough like her mother but she's goofy like her father. I think it works. I went into Bayonetta 3 believing it would be the end of the series so to see that Platinum wants to start a new era of Bayonetta, personally I find that very exciting. I think Viola has a lot of potential as a young witch with a lot to learn that just wants to be like her mummy no different from little Cerrza in Bayonetta 1. Motherhood has always been a strong theme of the series so Cereza passing the torch to here daughter is a very beautiful end to the trilogy. In conclusion the original trilogy will always will always be incredible and I trust Platinum to make something special for the next generation.

I don't understand why this "passing of the torch" direction was necessary. Bayonetta felt like the type of series where you could just keep making new wacky, zany stories as an excuse for over the top action. Why did it suddenly go into the Batman Arkham Knight route?

So they basically DMC4'd us but instead of Vergil's kid taking his uncle's place, it's gonna be Bayo's world displaced daughter going forward (at least until Cereza Bayo comes back)
It should be noted, people HATED how DMC4 changed the protagonist to Nero for a vast portion of the game and he wasn't really redeemed to the fandom until DMC5.
Viola may grow on the community eventually, but considering just how different she is both tonally and and aesthetically, that will likely be a long time coming... maybe Bayonetta 5.

Actually I would really like to see Viola be the new protagonist for at least one game. Not to replace Bayonetta entirely but I really want see how Bayonetta became ultra sexy badass that she is known for (cause there’s no way that she went from crybaby to slam dunking gods in a day) and using Viola is a good idea because 1. She’ll show how Bayonetta became so powerful and 2. Using her instead of Bayonetta is great way to show off her goofy and inexperienced side without ruining Bayonetta reputation.

I prefer playing as Cereza because I want to feel like a badass girlboss that doesn't have to give up her femininity to make a change but instead use it as a driving force to kick ass. Viola is just badass. Plus activating Viola's witch time is different to Cereza's which they had you master for 3 games. It's like they want to shove down a DMC character down our throats since it's a more popular franchise. Them killing off Cereza means the death of Bayonetta for me.
I don't want Viola, not because I don't like the character but because I don't like her gameplay.
What I found interesting was that TWO Bayonetta's join Cereza in her final fight against singularity. I always assumed that the Bayonetta we played as in the first game is the exact same Bayonetta we go on to play as in the second game-- simply after a number of months have passed. The events of Bayonetta 1 seem to lead into the events of Bayonetta 2-- while at the same time, the events we see play out in Bayonetta 2 seem to paradoxically set the events of the first game into motion. As such, I assumed that Bayonetta 2's protagonist is simply the same witch, only now a veteran who's learned and grown stronger-- changing her style to match that growth after discovering herself in the events of the first game. But then we see that there were separate Bayonetta's for 1 and 2 respectively? And even the Bayonetta that was slain at the beginning of this game was also a separate Bayonetta? This is how these multiverse stories can become very messy, very quickly. Seeing the Bayonetta from 1 and from 2 make separate appearances as two different heroes somehow smacks of retcon. . .
It's definitely messy. The way I understand it, the Bayo we play as in 1+2 is the same one, represented by "Bayo 2". Cereza sent back to the past in the first game becomes "Bayo 1", and the protagonist here comes from a slightly different universe... For some reason.
We know the Bayonetta featured in 2 also experienced the events of 1, because she references them multiple times, and she also references her previous appearance by calling out her "new haircut"...
The character bios in 3 say that "Bayo 1" experienced hardships that 3's did not, presumably referring to that Cereza never getting sealed. They also state that "Bayo 2" has walked a path almost identical to 3.

I thought Rodin referring to Luka being mad at Viola skipping school was because Rodin has access to the real gates of hell, and presumably stays in touch with Bayo and Luka from there.
This is the case. By the end of the game, Luka contains the essence of every one of himself across the multiverse (this is what Lukaon refers to as gathering all the arch-adams). There is no alternate Luka to be alive outside of Inferno here 😅
So... but what I understand, this lore competes with complexity with Kingdom Hearts, Kirby, Zelda, and Fnaf...
When you said that Bayonetta was actually Ceraza, it absolutely shocked me. Is this gonna be like Castlevania? Where the name "Bayonetta" is one to be earned? Especially like Lord's of Shadow, where Gabriel earned his right to be called a "Belmont". So since this a pretty crazy comparison, would people hate me if I said Viola can be Bayos echo for Smash?

Okay, so, there's an obvious parallel to draw here, between Bayonetta and Devil May Cry. Devil May Cry 4 introduced Nero, a new, younger, much less experienced Devil Hunter than Dante; And here we have Viola, a new, younger, much less experienced Witch than Cereza. The difference between them, is in DMC4, you play as Nero for more than half the game; the first 13 missions out of 20. In many ways, DMC4 is Nero's game; One of the plot's primary questions is, "Hey, just who's this kid, anyway?" and the game ANSWERS that question. Nero is a guy who passionately cares about the people around him and will stop at nothing to keep those he considers his friends safe, even if that includes making an enemy out of the entire rest of the world, and if we look at DMC5, even if that includes beating the crap out of them to stop their self-destructive behaviors.
Meanwhile, in Bayonetta 3, out of 14 chapters, you play as Viola in... like three of them? Like... I DO like what little we saw of Viola, she's endearing in a lot of ways that Cereza kinda just isn't, but I wish we had had more time to get to know her, and they hadn't spent so much time going, "Hey, look at how much of a clumsy goober she is like her father! *clown emoji."* Like... you can make a character who's not so casually badass as Cereza is without making them an absolute clown. I feel like in more ways, this was "Cereza's last game," and it does ask the question, "Who's this Viola chick?" but it's answer is... "Cereza and Luka's daughter", but since they spent so little time setting Viola up, like... where do we GO from here?
If Platinum really plans to "replace" Cereza (or any other Bayonetta) with Viola then 4 will absolutely flop. Viola is a VERY far cry from the Bayonetta we got to know in 2009 and grew attached to. Even if Viola grows more confident and gets more skilled and such, there is no way she can top anything the Bayos do with her inherent clumsiness she got from Luka. That, plus a lot of fans don't like the sword, they don't take Cheshire seriously as a demon, they don't like Violas look, the list goes on.
Bayonetta games should have Bayonetta as their protagonist. And Viola inheriting this name for some reason doesn't count.

What im confused about is, how are all 3 bayos from different universes? Since young cereza’s exposure to bayo1 was supposed to be pivotal in balders plan to awaken bayo1’s eye, shouldnt bayo1 be the same as this bayo2 (and bayo3 since you said it yourself that bayo3 is the same cereza)? Sure the timeline was rewritten, but it was still bound to bayo 1’s universe, otherwise balders plan and the entire bayo 2 never would have happened.
That’s what’s so confusing to me too. Lore-wise, it’s possible the Bayo 2 we saw was the RoT Bayo we saw in the second game, but that’s unlikely. It also wouldn’t make sense for our OG Bayo to go back to her first outfit, and her journal description has no mention of the events in the second game either. Most likely it was just fan-service by Kamiya, but it would’ve been nice to know what those two were up to during this whole game.
It’s very possible they got ripped at specific part’s during their timeline. Like pink hair ceraza was in the middle of the bayonetta 2 prologue when we met her
They are from different parallel worlds where the events from Bayonetta 1 and 2 were happening, but Singularity then came in and wiped them out. They are not exactly the ones we controlled in those games, but they are identical in every regard.

We had to build off the first game to grow to love her thats why. They will not just dump her as is KNOWING how much people like her. The sales of this definitely makes the next possible. I am going to suspend everything until then. This is the most fun I had in all 3 games so it was not a waste for me in that alone. I say imma wait . If anything just pretend the 2nd game was the end. Unpopular opinion: I like Viola taking up the mantle and the idea of there BEING a mantle. Bayonetta was a name given to Cereza that showed that she’s a tough Umbra witch and it’s assumed that that’s something she had to earn. It’d be awesome to see Viola grow into not a copy of Bayo, but her own Bayonetta. In the way Spider-Man says “Anyone can wear the mask” I feel like anyone can be Bayonetta if they’re enough of a bad bitch💅🏾

Right now, after this injustice, it is clear that Platinum only wanted to make more profit at the extend of quality and support. They wanted to get rid of Bayonetta after the 2nd game as seen in the 2017 trailer.
@@Aquaria2099 I have seen Jeanne having better swordsmanship skills than her. We have been partially fooled but not completely by Platinum. When they kill Jeanne, that was bad but sending Cereza to hell, that is the final straw, they have crossed the line.
Viola could absolutely NEVER replace Bayonetta and I'm actually irritated the writers went that route of trying to "pass it on" as a name... especially trying to introduce the idea in the last 5 minutes of the game that Viola is going to replace Bayonetta and is her daughter out of NOWHERE (though people could argue they did see the mother-daughter reveal coming). Bayonetta has been an established character for 13 years and the last 5 minutes of the ending completely throw that out the window.... Very unhappy with the deaths/points mentioned, though the writers were probably trying to keep everyone on their toes and everything as fresh as possible to keep the future of the franchise going.
Viola's whole personality was supposed to be comedic/unpolished just like a typical side character so I do noooot see that continuing on as the titular character OR living up to the Bayonetta the fans know and love.
I know Bayo fans really just appreciate a new game actually being released and it's not known for its amazing storylines but where tf did Viola even come from... she really came out of nowhere and is supposed to be accepted as Bayonetta/Luka's daughter with no backstory by fans.... also big plothole/turnoff for me

Great video as usual! So this is the ending most outlets are saying betrayed Bayonetta’s character but it’s an alt bayo. Bayo 1&2 at the end makes me wish Helena Taylor had just done the cameo without all the mess of her videos. And it’s Not Bayonetta without Bayonetta so I hope Viola isn’t the main protagonists after this!
