      So great to see the owner of a multi million dollar operation is full out there driving his trucks and getting his hands dirty like the rest of you. Old school…helps the younguns see the value of hard work.

    The shear pins on that cab works exactly how they were supposed to.
    Modern semis are designed to do that in a violence crash. It helps dissipate energy so the occupants are not subjected to massive crash forces.

      I’m starting to believe, but it’s a wild concept to understand. “we design our trucks so when you crash, the entire cab comes off the chassis to protect you”.

    • @45KevinR
      @45KevinR 5 місяців тому +3

      I'm guessing, but the cab probably gives you a passenger cell like in cars, and the shearing off acts like a crumple zone giving you less g over a longer time. The downside is you'll only ever crash that truck once! It's like 1970s cars vs crumple zone cars. The old ones the driver was a gonna but you could sell the car, the modern ones sacrifice themselves to protect the occupants.

My husband logged over a million miles with zero accidents when he was a bull hauler. He said the problem with the truck drivers these days is that there’s just too many out there with very little experience. And the texting while driving situation is out of control. Sad.

Notice how he was too far onto the non merge area. and tried to cut the wheel like he tried to avoid the accident. Clearly HIS FAULT! It's bad enough when 4 wheelers only look four to five car lengths ahead , but a big rig is something else. This driver worried about his phone because there might be evidence he was doing something with it? Even if JB Hunt was parked like a idiot , this could have been prevented by looking a quarter mile ahead of yourself. Amazing. Lucky Star on the side of the cab.

      Maybe they use more care when heavy - not so casual. Stopped on shoulder - fail, unless breakdown. Wandered off traffic lane (maybe distracted by phone) - fail. Two wrongs make a wreck, Volvo sells a new tractor. Lucky driver gets to fight another day - if smart, in a different trade.

    Great video and recovery as usual guys! Just curious, besides the initial cost of the wrecker, how much would you estimate you invested in tools and accessories on Flipper or Hulk? You always have the right tools for the situation, which is the sign of a true professional in any craft!!! I don't imagine some of those slings are inexpensive.
