  • Driver survives HORRIFIC semi wreck! Remember that tow truck crash video I posted where I said it's one of the worst I've seen? Well this one beats that by quite a bit. Personally, I've had a couple jobs where the cab falls off the chassis and the driver survives. You'd figure that would be rare, but it does happen. By a miracle, the driver walked from this insane disaster of a wreck with barely a couple scratches.
    Alex was first on scene in Big Flipper, our 75ton rotator. We were called by CHP (California Highway Patrol) do handle the crazy wreck. Another company was called for the JB Hunt tractor trailer that was hit by this driver. No clue on how this accident happened, but it most likely was one of the two most common reasons: distracted driving or falling asleep behind the wheel.
    Alex was joined by Pepe himself, my father, and Java Joe. Together, they made short work of this monster job. From start to finish, including the grueling cleanup, the guys were done in just a couple of hours. The driver of this wreck ended up being transported to the hospital out of safety.
    I've seen some other huge multi vehicle wrecks, but is this the worst single truck wreck you've seen where the driver also survived? And if you're a fan and would like more, become a member! I post all my deleted videos here and other perks: / @pepestowingservice

    • @45KevinR
      @45KevinR 2 місяці тому +1

      I'm guessing, but the cab probably gives you a passenger cell like in cars, and the shearing off acts like a crumple zone giving you less g over a longer time. The downside is you'll only ever crash that truck once! It's like 1970s cars vs crumple zone cars. The old ones the driver was a gonna but you could sell the car, the modern ones sacrifice themselves to protect the occupants.

    It's bad enough when 4 wheelers only look four to five car lengths ahead , but a big rig is something else. Promotional idea - photo and autograph sessions at a safe place, for the fans. Beautiful rigs, glamorous stars. Do you make appearances at exhibitions? Maybe a UA-cam expo. Move some merch, impress the crowd. If those recovery calls would just stop for a few hours.

    Now thats the kind of wreck you walk away from but just barely. Gives a new term to smash bros! Those two trucks tied the knot I see, and kissed a little too hard. I love it when Alex starts laughing, because I've had a bit of a rough week, and he takes my mind off the crap. Joe knows how to pull a lever, I will give him that, and he got his arm out of there just before it got rolled over by the tire. Alex forgot to tell the boss Yeah I Know. I like Joe, but he wasn't on his A game today. You loaded the bread slice on the trailer, ready to scoot. Paperweight loaded onto the rollback, ready to make like a banana and split!

    JBHUNT, in the industry means Just Been Hired Usually Not Trained. This guy was doing something(on the phone?) and trying to merge Illegally into oncoming traffic. Notice how he was too far onto the non merge area. and tried to cut the wheel like he tried to avoid the accident. Clearly HIS FAULT! Was a truck driver for almost 15 years before my husbands retirement. I've seen some stupid driving in my time on the road.

    Why did it take the other crew to move the JB Hunt truck out of your way?

    • @RLTango
      @RLTango 2 місяці тому

      2:10 - CHP has an on-call towing program that cycles through available tow companies based on priorities and types of calls.
      If a company has a preferred/contracted tow company, they might first dibs on a call. But if it takes too long or is bigger than what they can handled, CHP puts it out to next available on-call company.
      Josh can confirm, but maybe each semi got its own on-call entry based on difficulty? Of course Pepe's get the tougher one!
      Josh's dad later mentions reviewing the program and seeing the call status changed to "canceled".

    • @Spartan-j7s
      @Spartan-j7s 2 місяці тому +1

    I’m sure his phone is what got him into that mess but I’m a truck driver too and absolutely There’s no reason for that JB Hunt driver to be parked on the side of the road unless he’s broken down. A lot of the times they just pull over to use the restroom or take their break. I understand there’s not a lot of places for us to pull over but I always make sure I get off the freeway or an offramp stopped on the freeway when trucks are going 60+ miles an hour, zooming right next to you is crazy.

    In New Hampshire we have " the move over " law. If a vehicle that is on the shoulder, for any reason, and has any combination of red yelloy or blue lights flashing you must either change your lane of travel or decrease your speed to 35 MPH.
    Drivers in your state are so disrespectful of people that provide emergency services.

  • @104bigbuddy
    @104bigbuddy Місяць тому

    And that is why you DO NOT park on the shoulder of the freeway unless it is a true emergency. And if it’s a true emergency, you should have your safety triangles properly placed.
