    Greetings from Indonesia Sir, I still confuse between Monteira / Altamira. Indonesia have tropical weather so very hot around 39°C in afternoon and also bad heavy rain, I usually ride 9-12 hours 500km-600Km a day. What will You choose, because Altamira more expensive is it worted ?

    Hello, thank you for your review. I am 187 cm tall and weigh 94 kg. What size should I choose to fit the Tech-air 5 airbag under my jacket? Thanks

      @RevZilla  7 днів тому

      Get your chest measurement and reference the size chart. If between sixes and wearing an airbag, you’ll likely need to bump up.

    arm vent zippers arent waterproof? wish they would use the wrist adjuster from the st-7 and fix the waterproofing on the vents, then it would be a great waterproof jacket.

    Thanks for the nice review, sir! I have a question, comparing to the Bogota jacket (I’m still trying to decide which one I buy): The Bogota main shell is 600d and the Monteira 450d, so isn’t the Bogota more abrasion resistant than this one?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  8 місяців тому +1

      No, not necessarily. The Denier rating doesn't indicate safety or abrasion levels, but rather the weight of the fabric and structure of the main shell. So when figuring out which jacket you'd want, don't rely on the overall shell fabric as a key safety factor as it has more to do with the feel. Abrasion resistance is usually best measured in the CE Level for abrasion testing the jacket passed (ie A, AA, or AAA). Hope that helps

    Hi guys, quick question. How would you say this compares to the Alpinestars Bogota Pro? Is this jacket worth the extra money? Intended use is daily commute all seasons in damp/rainy weather (UK).

      The Monteira has a Laminated WP to the main shell where the Bogota Pro has a floating WP membrane. So the Monteira will be a bit more comfortable and lighter weight since that WP liner is baked into the shell vs another layer behind the main shell. Both will help with WP'ing, but that laminated layer will keep the water from getting absorbed into the main shell and getting heavier in down pours.

      @@RevZilla Thank you for the reply! That's cleared things up for sure.

      @@RevZilla Yes but the "liner" into the Bogota ain't a normal "floating" liner, it's a dedicated rain jacket that you can wear all alone (with the thermal liner snaped-in which is nice!), inside the jacket (like a floating liner) or OVER the jacket to keep the external shell dry.
      Not as easy to use than a laminated membrane but surely cooler in full summer (because you can remove it) and it offers a lot of options.

    Did I hear right that he sized DOWN in the jacket and sized UP in the pants? Seemed like he meant to say he sized up on both items.

      Usually you'd be right, because I tend to wear a LG or XL in jackets. But Alpinestars' size chart (what Spurgeon is referring to here) shows a 44" chest in a 2XL jacket. So I had to size DOWN in the jacket compared to the sizing chart. Hope that helps!

    Wait, do I see this right?
    Non-waterproof vent zip on the arms, with DIRECT venting function, through a laminated shell?!
    Am I missing something?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  5 місяців тому +1

      According to Astars the vents on the sleeves are waterproof and seal beneath the zipper's teeth to keep water out.

    That jacket came out last year. I been looking for a video review of it since then. Too late I guess, bought something else...
