- It's time to get those pages stitched in to your cover using a 5 stitch pamphlet stitch! Woo hoo! This is so fun and fulfilling. You'll just need a stack of paper folded into a signature, a cover, an awl, and some string.

I want to let you know that as a number-averse person you have made this doable for me. Thank you so very much, I don’t have to measure!
🤯
Using an opened envelope as the center page to hide the binding is genius!!!! Tysm for the great idea!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Have been searching for a detailed visual forever. Some of us need visuals.
You have made it so easy to understand…it’s the ‘fear factor’ of sewing in all those precious works of art.
Thank you so much for this tutorial - I sewed 3 signatures in my cover using your video each time - this is my first journal and your video helped me so much. Thank you very much!
I love how much you love this 😂
Your enthusiasm is so contagious! I did it!
I've never done a junk journal, I will now! This is the best video explaining these steps! Clear, concise and love your excitement! New Subscriber! :)
Ooooooh this video is right on time for me...even though it's three years old! thanks!!!
Hey fellow crafters...don't forget to "like" and subscribe and comment on ALL of our awesome craft channels, every time, to help keep them going strong!
This was an excellent tutorial! I enjoyed your enthusiasm for sewing in signatures - so many videos tout being "no-sew," and while those journals have their place, I knew I wanted to sew in my pages. I love to sew and do very little hand sewing, so I liked getting out my needle and thread and adding a special touch to my very first journal. You have a talent for teaching & I'll be going through your other tutorials as I continue junk journaling!
Thank you so much for this video. I'm putting together my very first altered book journal and have been so scared to bind it. Listening to you talking about how much fun this part is helped calm my fear, and I'm making my templet and feeling more confident about this part of the process.❤
Thank you! Thank you !Thank you!. I struggle ridiculously with this. Not anymore. I truly feel confident I can do it now. You made it look so simple. :)
OMG where has this tutorial been the last 2 months of my life!!! You made this seem so easy and doable. I’ve been procrastinating making my very first junk journal, now I can’t wait to try!!!
Yay! I’m so glad it’s helpful! 💖
You made it simple thanks
It is very soothing watching you sew in signatures, more calming if it were signatures into my journal you were sewing, lol. 😂
lol I love it!
Thank you for the detailed instructions! Can’t wait to try this! And love your journals 💕
Whoohoo! For the first time I had fun with signatures! Thank you!
Rewatching this today and just want to say, I really miss seeing you. I hope you will be able to do more videos sometime. 🤗
You did an amazing job. Thank you. 💕NonnaGrace 🐓
Super helpful and accurate. The hardest bit for me is the order of stitching so l did it along with you, thanks again, Josée UK
Outstanding video!!! I’m like you, I enjoy stitching in signatures! It’s exciting and feels like the boldest part. What’s harder for me is choosing what papers to include in a signature and how thick to make it. That scares me more. Thanks for the tip about more room at the bottom. I hadn’t thought about that, but it could save me a lot of grief someday!
I have just assembled my first journal. It is made of fabric and handmade cover. Thank you so much for explaining the stitching process so well.
I SUPER love this video - just saying! So glad I found your channel.
Loved how you taught this lesson, as a beginner it was very helpful and I like this stich as it looks neat. I subbed, liked, alarmed and now commented.
As soon as I begin to get the signature together to sew it to the cover, I get anxious
So I need a good lesson in how
Thank you Kate
🇦🇺🌸❤️
You are so welcome!
It’s safer to punch the holes through the cover and signatures while resting them in a large opened book.
Ok, first, you are hilarious! Second, where were a month ago when I NEEDED this tutorial & “taught” myself?!?😂😂 This is awesome and your energy has me wanting to do “the coolest part”! Thank you!’
Thank you for this great tutorial!🎉
Thanks! I've followed this tutorial as well as you tutorial for the 5 panel fold out page and just completed my first sewn in journal! Now to fill it! You are a joy to watch and craft with! ❤
Best sewing in signatures I have seen....great job...really helped me.
I completely admit that my lack of patience for sewing in the signatures is what prevents me from making books. There’s my dirty secret. Lol. That’s why I only make no sew things. I caaaaaaaan do it buuuuuuut but but but but I’d rather leave that to rock stars like you. 💕😍
It's interesting to see what people love and hate about paper crafting!
❤Love love love❤, you make it look so easy. More bloopers please 😂
New to making journals and really wanted to learn how to sew papers into the spine instead of placing notebooks on elastic strings. Found your video and it looks so easy so I want to thank you. Great video😊
Thank you so much. I made my first journal and the sewing part was worrisome. You made it easy...and fun!
Your instruction is so clear and fun! I can’t wait to try your method.
You're so upbeat. Love your enthusiasm and talent.i like 5 stitch vs 3. Great work!
Thank you so much 🙂
Great tutorial. Sewing in my signatures is my least favorite thing to do with my journal. I love how you sewed that straight into an envelope in the center, great idea! You make it look so easy. TFS❤️
Thank you!
This is not my favorite part but it is alway the part where I mess up…I am doing a 4 signature journal…do you have a video for the folds necessary for this!! Thanks for encouraging those who dread the sewing signature part of journal making…you make it look so easy…
Thank you for showing us the 5-hole sewing. You made it look so easy. It gives me hope. ❤️
You are so welcome! It's a lot of fun and gets way easier the more you do it.
I would love to send you my junk journal for pamphlet stitches
Love your process.....thank you.
I love sewing in signatures. I usually do three but think I will try five holes next time. Thanks for your tutorial.
It’s so fun right! Glad I’m not the only one who loves it! 💖🙌
Thank you!
Beautiful work! Thank you!! New subbie here...😉
Great explanation. ❤
Thank you for sharing this. Way easier to understand and follow. Feeling much more confident now!! 😊
Glad it was helpful!
I have to say your video stuck with me better than all the others. I'm currently making my 3rd journal thanks to you. You made it so easy and you have a great sense of humor. This is a fantasic tutorial and i'm so happy I found you. Keep up the good work. Thanks again. p.s. It's my favorite part too!!!
Yay! I love to hear it! 💕🙌 Thank you!
Love your videos!! Will you be making more?
The template you make to make holes in spine needs to be same length as signatures and not spine unless pages same height. I made mistake of making it according to spine...was too long but did not realize until time to sew them in. I put pencil line to remember where to put it lol
Love this video!!!
Awesome
I love your center envelopes in your signatures. I have been using the 3 stitch pamphlet stitch. After watching this I will definitely try the 5 stitch
Thank you! I haven't ever tried the 3 stitch since I learned the 5 stitch first, but either works great!
Hi 👋🏼 Kate… you make look so easy, but as a newbie, it’s the must intimidate part😵💫
Thanks for sharing 😊
You can do it!
thanks for showing the 5 hole stitch, I have always done the 3 hole, but if you have short pages 5 works better
You're welcome! 3 hole works great too!
You can buy beeswax at your local quilt shop to pull you thread through... it makes the thread stronger and it slides through the holes easily. The other option is upholstery thread, it is nearly impossible to break...do you have a tutorial on the center envelope? Just love your enthusiasm and imagination to build your multi pockets..
Thanks!! I am making a tutorial for envelopes soon so keep an eye out in the next few weeks!
Kate... I'm so glad I found your video. You're very talented and likeable. I'm new to making journals. I love sewing the signatures too! I actually clip my paper on the spine just like you do but I learned something new watching you fold the paper. I'm going to look at your videos to see if you have a video on making a cover. Mine have been drying all warped.
Thank you!
New subbie❤
Do you have a tutorial on those center envelopes in your signature.
I'm making one now so check back in a few weeks!
I’m at that part in my first Junk Journal. But I didn’t want my sewing to show on the outside of the spine. So I’m sewing the signatures to a piece of cardboard covered in a complimentary piece of scrapbook paper. Then I’m gluing that to the inside of my spine. I’m pretty sure I’m ready to do that part tomorrow. So I bumped into your tutorial at the perfect time. I’ve seen this done quite a bit. But I feel better after your refresher! Oh and, I bought that Book Binding kit on Amazon too. Thank goodness. Lol. TFS!!
Ok…. I just finished sewing in 4 signatures of 10 pages and one doily in each signature. I did 5 holes (5 stitches???) in each signature. I was so glad I watched your tutorial. I felt pretty confident in my ability but to have you with me along the way (whispering in my ear, this is the funnest part), seriously helped me so much. I left long stings so I can tie on charms and beads. Tomorrow I commit to prettying up my cover and figuring out a closure. Tonight I’m exhausted. Lol. Thank you!!
Yay! That makes me so happy I could cheer you along! I'd love to see pictures!
I took pictures. Where would I send them? Next time I’m going to put some envelopes in the center of each signature. That looks so pretty!!
THANKS!!
:)
You make it look so easy! I don't mind sewing in the first signature, but the fumbling around with the others is what I really don't like. Too hard to see what I'm doing while things are sliding around.
I definitely make plenty of mistakes and fumble a lot but it's still so fun!
LOVE THIS!!! Question, I have scrolled through your videos and nothing stood out…is there a video on how you assembled the cover???
Nevermind! Found it!
I use graph paper.
That's a great idea
How would I do this with 4 signatures?
I love sewing in signatures also!! You definitely make it look easy!
I love the idea of envelopes for the centre....do you use a template or a punch board?
I look forward to seeing how you use your finished journal! It's so pretty!!
The envelopes are made from a template on the back of my score board. But I've gotten several questions about them so I'll be doing an envelope tutorial in the next few weeks!
@@KateMower I look forward to it!!
Do you have a video on making those large envelopes that you use for the middle of your signatures?
I'm making one now so check back in the next few weeks!
When you thread the needle
It looks like you don’t pull the string even with the other half
You have a short end and a long end?
😊
Did you tie a knot
I can’t see both of your strings
How many pages do you use for a signature?
