I like stuff like this. Monk. Castle. Murder She Wrote. Moonlighting. Police detectives enlist the help of an outsider to help solve cases. Same trope. Different angle.
No mention of Psych? Sad.

I just finished season 3 of the French original series HIP on Hulu and saw this trailer today. It’s an exact copy of the French TV show down to the names.

Excited about this show because I have always liked Olson since starting watching “ it’s always sunny in Philadelphia “ and being French , I have watched the original French series “ HPI “ still running on French TV TF1 with Audrey Fleurot. Another great actress, people should check her roles in other series

@@redrick8900 Just saw it, she was great as I expected but it was a snooze. Pilots sometimes suck and it's up from there...fingers crossed but not holding out hope.
Can't wait for this show and for Kaitlin Olson to get the credit and awards that are long overdue.

Based on the French series that launched in 2021, this show was created by the show runner of the "Good Place" on NBC. It appears to be a hit in the USA with 11.3 million views in three days on multiple platforms. It does seem interesting.
I was so over formulaic procedural tv shows. But this is one fine trailer. Congratulations to whoever worked on it. Count me in.

If your detectives are being shown up by the cleaning lady, they need fired and she needs a promotion
so basically Hulu will have two same shows on its platform.....why not just promote French version since it fairly new and actually still running?
Because nobody wants to watch a French dub and French laws and crimes are far from US standard where we have a lot worse :/

Taken from a French tv show word for word called HIP HIGH INTELLECTUAL POTENTIAL - on HULU - unreal it is word for word but the good part is I can stream it all seasons of it
I'm a firm believer that any tv dramas that feature an eccentric main lead that is all about them helping the normies fix or solve something that they can't do themselves is always going to be hella popular. I already like this, but I'm almost positive this is going to be the next trending show.
She's an amazing lead, I love her striking blue eyes they're very expressive and her acting is great. Can't wait to watch!
I actually am excited for this series, it looks really good and entertaining; hopefully it turns out as good as it looks and can run for a long time vs be super good and get axed before it takes off. 🤞🏻

This is an awesome show. ABC really needed a grand slam homerun like this. Get more shows like this with great writing, likable actors/actresses and you save ABC. IT WILL help if you find another attractive female with gorgeous eyes as the man character just like her.

This show is great. Pretty accurate as well. I'm up there myself and its not like people think, all easy and Disney. Its as often a curse. She showed it very well. Reminded me of a one woman scorpion.
I’m just saying she would be fired immediately,she brought a child to a crime scene which could’ve compromised evidence.
And the candle wouldn’t have given it away,I’m guessing that one scene with the fellow in the bath was a reference to the bromley bride murders and it was concluded that the sudden pulling of someone’s feet would render them almost instant unconscious but also that the bruising on the arms from thrashing would later be found in an autopsy so it kind of eliminates the point of her
I watched mickey because of her and I'm back again here because of her...she's awesome❤
Some of us who have seen things as a kid (been thru things) we see what others miss. We develop different mental skills from survival at early ages. This a great show it looks like. There are many of us sleuths out there doing our best to help keep eyes out for all these cases.

We do have these old-fashioned things called "DVRs" and I'm pretty sure even more old-fashioned things called "VCRs" are still around, and I'm willing to bet that you'll be able to watch it on this new-fangled thing called "online".

I liked the show, episode one, a lot. BUT.......in one stretch there were 20 commercials in 24 minutes. Are you kidding me? THATS why I watch cable. I can wait.

The fact I'm happy it's a network show and not a streaming show... I know if it's good, it'll survive at least another season and won't be axed 3 days after the first episode was aired.

i like how they are showing her Neurodivergency somewhat realistically how while it can feel like a super power at times it can also REALLY SUCK things being a little out of place can be like nails on a chalkboard inside your head

Was going to check out the first episode, but it wasn't available yet, the original French version was so I'm not sure if I'll ever check this one out, when it comes to American versions of foreign shows the foreign version is better (and actually ends).

How do you people know the french version is better after only one episode of the usa version? The usa adaptation of the office, ghosts had to find their own footing.
The uk's version of the bridge, professor t, before we die, crime scene cleaner etc....have to find their own footing.
They're adaptations. The first eps will be the same to introduce the show, then typically they veer and adapt for their new countries.
It was probably easier to make international adaptations before the internet and streaming.

ABC’s Crime Drama High Potential
I've been watching the 'original' French TV show HIP. I'm sorry but literally taking the exact premiere scene by scene, there will be a comparison since that show is on Hulu at this moment. Why do that?
I'd describe it as mix of Monk, Psych, Columbo, House & foreign crime shows are non-formula to American tv shows. It is a comedy & drama.
My concern is the character itself needs to have a powerful presence & vitality that stands out. A distinct wardrobe can't miss her in a room of average looking people.
The French tv show lead is Audrey Fleurot who's 5'9" & well-built. She's noticeable for her looks/bright red hair, off-putting as an overly bimboish dress, her height (she towers over some of her co-workers) & ability to show-off her intellect/observational skills.
Why Monk?
The character has a few behavioral issues such as ADHD, impulsivity & narcissistic attitude towards the murder victims, her kids, exes & her own parents to name a few.
The American actress may be great @ sarcastic comedic timing, but that's not what this is. Everyone looks 'a tad too serious & forced including the lead with no likability appeal of any. Compared to the original she's not bright & vivacious.
Why House?
House's brilliance is what allowed him to skate by while others would be taken to task. All came to recognize that Morgane was highly gifted but flaky. She was tolerated being exceptionally talented.
This American trailer?
Exactly the same premiere only in English? That's a major issue as it Immediately shows the difference between the French TV show episodes on now & the new show. Even with English dubbing it stands apart as this actress & full cast doesn't match up to the flair of Fleurot (who has a slight comedic trait ala like Lucille Ball) nor overall presence of the screen.
Really makes no sense have the original episodes seen before this American clone.
Who could have played & fit this lead perfectly? Both intelligent, quirky & off?

They took the best physical comedian of the century and put her in another humorless rote police procedural where a quirky freak with special observational skills does the job of career police detectives way better than they do and in half the time.
Also, as someone that lives in Kentucky when they say Fontana is the Kentucky of California I must assume that that is where all the best weed and whiskey and most attractive women in that state live and that it's got the most reasonable cost of living.

This actually is the American remake of a French TV series. I know because my country has the exact same series with native actors to us and it follows the same plot, but we just call it IQ 160, and I had thought it a brilliant idea. Then I realised the original was French 😅
