Another good climber is kiwi fruit. I've got them growing on my fence grown from seeds I got from supermarket fruits. They're hardy but i havent had any fruit yet...but fingers crossed😊
Wow ! So gorgeous ! I love how it all looks too bad my hardiness zone is not as high as yours. Oh yeah true with limitations, but i allways try to deal with what i have. 😊
I live on the edge of The Fens which is battered by cold N.E. winds. To combat this and raise the hardiness levels I planted Laurels and evergreen Viburnum around the boundary fence and grew them tall, then removed the lower branches to allow for underplanting of hardier tropical looking plants (Fatsia, Bean Tree, Trachycarpus, Mahonia Soft Caress) interplanted with less hardier plants
@@leestockton9367 I do have sports in my garden which are a true microclimate spots, abou 2-3 degree C warmer than exposed areas especially in winter. But the issue is, when temperatures are above freezing that spot remains also cooler because it gets only 2 hours of sunshine in summer and less than 1 hour from mid October to mid April. But i am planing to plant my Fastia Japonica there, some Banana Musa Basjoo and some other exotics. I try to make the best out or the situation i have, but if my hardiness zone was at least 8b ulike 7b now and winters warmer i could do much better. But for now, i have what i have.
It looks so lush and Verdant like the Amazon or Congo. I have a question regarding Washingtonia palms. I bought one last year in the indoor section of a Super market and managed to harden it off and grow it outdoors. My only concern is if it had any form of Fusarium wilt. Thank you
For sub shrub plants i would also recommend hostas, "spotty dotty",(a podophyllum), and butterbur, if you have enough space. Butterbur can grow quite big and so can some of the hostas, especially Empress Wu, it gets biiiiig😮
Got Spotty Dotty in a pot and it is BRILLIANT at adding that tropical look; it was this plant that started me down the road of my tropical garden journey
