  • Kevin McGrath hated primary school; he was always getting told off by his teachers. When the tables turned and he was the teacher telling students off, he hated that too. In a bid to find out why some students have better relationships with their teachers than others, he asked primary school students to draw themselves with their teachers, and analysed the masterpieces that they created.
Kevin McGrath is a PhD student within the School of Education at Macquarie University, and the winner of the Macquarie University round of the Three Minute Thesis competition. Three Minute Thesis is a world-wide competition that challenges PhD students to turn years of research, and thousands words into just three minutes. His thesis focuses on how students with disruptive behaviour perceive the student/teacher relationship.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

Learning should be joyful experience. Without connection you can't involve students in learning process. Let's prepare our students to face 21st century chaleges.
