Ayyyyy the orange 940 made an appearance!!! 💫🍊✨. That's making me all nostalgic too!!! Such a rad knife!! Love it!! When you said "there is no reason to run knives thick and soft other than laziness" I seriously muttered out loud to my laptop screen: "the only good thick and soft things are Moms!!!" 🤣 Love that Duckhead Forge Crush with the harpoon blade!! I actually used my Kyle Noseworthy Yellowfox (with the massive harpoon blade) to cut slices of the ham I cooked for Christmas dinner for my relatives!!! My drunk-on-scotch 87 year old Great Aunt thought it was hilarious and made a Crocodile Dundee "now that's a knife" joke lol! Think I'm gonna start carrying that bad boy! All of your fixed blade videos must be rubbing off on me, Slater!!! I eagerly await your other highly anticipated year end list companion video to this one: 'ericasedc's Best Performing Moms of 2024'!!! Great video, Erica!!!! Love you!!! 🧡🥰🧡
My 940 is one of my safe queens, I use it occasionally. Good video Erica. Hope you had a Merry Christmas and I hope you have a happy new year. Thanks Oh and my favorite for the year was my Spyderco Manix 2.
What a review. Should have guessed a "orange 940" would bring up the rear. Hope the New Year will be the best ever for you Erica. Funny thing is that I like Opinel knives and occasionally carry one too.
Hope you had a great Christmas Erica!! Love the video especially seeing the Dart and the Chum!! Funny what you said on the 940, I got the Blade HQ M4 one for Christmas. It is nice but I still would take a PM2 over it any day. Just not a fan of the Axis Lock. FYI I did see a list from Brian Kim of Tranparent Knives where he poked tested a factory second Native 5 in Maxamet with a result of 69.1 HRC. Have fun and be safe for NYE!
Cilantro is one of those foods that people either love or not. No middle ground with that food. Same with Spyderco knifes. While some may prefer them I for one do not. Nothing against them nor do I go out of my way to razz those who do like them. Nice collection and the Dart is a nice looking blade. Form follows function.
@@ericasedc 👍. The wife loves cilantro too but it tastes like poison to me. At least we are on the same page with mayonnaise. I was raised on miracle whip but she converted me to mayo. I converted her to the benefits of sharp knifes. Win-win. I settled in on 20* for most but have a few carving and fillet blades at 15-17*
Great video, some really cool knives there, (shame I live over the pond 🇬🇧 ) On an opposite note, I've had 2 massive disappointments this year, firstly, a small Inkosi which I couldn't open well, due to the position of the thumbstud (for me), so I traded it in for a Jack Wolf Bionic, (massive loss, 💰 ), and I'm still persevering /struggling, to open quickly, 😱,, but it cuts superbly, (S90v + extreme hollow grind + crazy thin bte,) Oh well,, suppose I should get a 940, and make it a trio of shit, for 2024 😂😂Happy New Year to you and yours,, 😍
My sage 5 rex 121 has confused me. It felt scary toothy when I got it and after cutting a somewhat thin plastic strap holding two tires together, the bite disappeared. I don’t know if there was still a burr left on the cutting edge or what? It still has some bite but it feels like a dull bite if that makes any sense. Maybe you can inform me. It still cuts but feeling it with my fingers it feels almost dull. This is my first experience with Rex 121 so I’m not exactly sure what I should expect. Love your videos! ❤
@@ericasedc yeah I was definitely caught of guard after cutting the strap and that scary bite was gone. My manix 2 maxamet just keeps trucking along and it has cut countless plastic straps. Even the think gnarly ones that band tires together. I’m a FedEx driver and I use my knives everyday. My Rex 45, M4, maxamet, k390, etc… have performed amazing so I had I hopes for Rex 121. I may have just got one that wasn’t sharpened perfectly. The bevels are amazingly equal on both sides. Looks like I’m going to have to sharpening Rex 121 for the first time. I hope I have the patience to do it right!

I can only speak for myself but a lot of times Erica and I exchange our work. I’ll recover knives she wants in exchange for her leatherwork. I know that’s how she obtained the Rex121 Sage 5 was through a knife trade. Full disclosure I bought her a 15V para3 lightweight as a Christmas gift.
Hey Erica, I'm curious about your opinion on the Kershaw Bel Air. Did you get to handle one, or what are your general impressions of it? I was thinking on getting one in Magnacut for EDC, while I keep my Para 3 for work.
FSK 400 grit super vitrified diamond stone and maxamet are like steak and potatoes. Cuts crazy fast with the 400 super vitrified stone and is a perfect finish stone for it.. A one and done if you will. Polished maxamet is pointless, I've tested it and around 400 is where it peaks in perform. Pretty much every piece of golden done maxamet I've poked have been 68-68.5 and Taiwan done maxamet has been in the the low 67s.
Hope you had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!

Look up the definition of toughness vs strength. Are we purposely being misled? Is strength instead what we should be concerned with?
