Pot holes in the UK are everywhere the best way i have found to deal with them is to either hit the throttle and try to lift the front wheel by pulling up hard on the handle bars, your back wheel will still hit hard but tends to be much more controllable you might get a flat tyre or even a buckled wheel but you are less likely to come off. If you have pedals use them as if trying to pop a wheelie, as i say it may reck your back wheel but you are more likely to walk away from it unhurt.
