I always appreciated when the pastor would say "let us kneel as far as possible" when I observed an elderly person lean forward and bow their heads and now I'm that elderly person with many injuries and lots of painful arthritis. I think the key is to have a humble posture.

I have injuries, too, and I'm no spring chicken. I look at this way... I don't have to hang naked, nailed to a rough wooden cross, my flesh hanging in shreds off my back.

I wrote about this when I was a member at Sac Central in 1999. I did a study on it , finding the same scripture Doug did. And more than that, at the second coming, EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW.
So I ask-why wait until compelled by the visual presence of the King of Kings? We ought always to kneel, when it’s practical and appropriate. It bothers me that we *stand* for prayer at church, where it’s carpeted and climate controlled.
At church, we ought to kneel.
Better standing than remain seated, what do you think?
Praise God!! At His second coming I will have a new body and be able to bow before my Maker.
At this time though, I'm in hope that He knows my pain and inabilities, and respects my desire to worship Him in prayer as best I can.
And, I can judge no-one because I'm not a reader of minds. God only knows. Blessings all!
@@anla3744 Basically, it all boils down to what are your priorities in life. Let's face it... mostly, it's a matter of our personal convenience and comfort and with many a demeaning position, which brings our convictions and allegiances into question. Unless you're physically hampered in some way, get on your damned knees, this is your Creator you're talking to! What did He go through to make your salvation possible? Believe me, your problems don't even count!
If the formal services involve kneeling and standing like a bunch of bloody pistons going up and down, then the service needs revamping. The answer ISN'T praying while sitting or standing. Moses fell on his face in the dirt, shoe-less, before his maker and you have to sit in a comfortable pew?
This is a subject that really ought not be broached, we should all have this figured out by now.
@@KJ_is_here I have a buggered up knee from an accident, full of metal and I kneel! It's damned uncomfortable. I can see if you're old and/or crippled, sure, then remain seated, but, I think most of us can kneel and just don't feel like it.

It’s very frustrating to have spoken and not be heard. There are those of us that cannot kneel. It is physically impossible and unsafe. I trust God Almighty to be my judge as to whether I have held Him in Awe and Reverence. He knows those of us who have physical disabilities that prevent us from kneeling. Condemning us is not Christlike or beneficial. It’s not that we don’t want to, but we can’t until He re-creates our bodies and we are able to physically bow down in the Heavenly Kingdom.
Thanks for the video and reminder, this is something I've often neglected over the years. My wife's great-grandmother passed away kneeling at her bedside in prayer at the age of 94. She had a full life and was ready to go. He answered her prayer that night.
That is actually a beautiful way to pass away - its sad for the family but spending the last moments with God alone would be so peaceful.

Kneel when possible. Don't if it isn't possible. We can pray anywhere but you can't kneel everywhere. But we shoild kneel for prayer in church and at home especially. If something happens in public and you feel you should pray, then kneel then too! Don't care what others will say or think about it! Honor our Lord.
I need to do this more often myself. Until now it never really occured to me to kneel outside of church and home. But it makes perfect sense to do so whenever we can.

I agree that kneeling in prayer draws closer to God, and now that I am elderly I miss being able to do that. Also, praying while driving, for instance, it is not advisable to close the eyes, etc. but having a heart that is drawn to our Lord is great. God bless.
Prayer is just conversation with our King brother.
Pastor is not talking about people that cannot kneel. But if you can, you should be kneeling before the Lord in prayer sometime in your day.

And one day I got a revelation from Holy Spirit that in that very moment, he said that the one who kneels before me will never be kneeling before world it was that moment I gave up my all shame, hesitation, of kneeling in front of Church, I always kneel down while worship. Praise be to my dearest and nearest father Jesus🙏.
Amen you are doing right. It's not about our ways or understanding but it's about doing His Ways..Stay Blessed...A Church here in South Africa is now doing the same as Scripture reveals .(but we are not Seven Days )

I'm 49 and I've had constant knee problems the last few years, yet last year the Holy Spirit lead me to kneel every morning in prayer to the Father. I obeyed and I've found that my knee issues are not only clearing up but are feeling amazing. Praise Jesus our King! Every morning is a miracle. Praise him and all glory to him.

Kneel if possible . But not always is it practical, especially for people with old knees.

I get that, but at 49 years old with knee issues, I'm actively being healed because of my obedience to the Holy Spirit in kneeling before the Father every morning. Faith over faculty brother.
@@mharding1258 49 is young. I have people in my church that are 80+ and need knee replacement surgery. Making them kneel has nothing to do with faith. God isn’t a tyrant forcing people to kneel who aren’t able to.
@@mharding1258 Indeed. We should humble ourselves when speaking to God. I believe the best position is the one you can pray most sincerely. After all, a man dangling from a rope about to fall to his death has a much more sincere prayer. Don't do that though if you can avoid the situation! Haha
I am not able to kneel. I sit at all times to pray to worship and have my devotion. In the shower I give thanks. I AM walking I talk to God. Its wonderful to have a relationship with Him.

Thank you for this Reminder. Yes, He is our our Friend,yet He is Holy,Mighty and all powerful He deserves our reverence too. Just a quick one ..even friendship has boundaries, imagine if the president is your friend will you just talk anyhow to him/her at anytime? Obviously NO! There times we can informally talk with them but there times the conversation have to be formal regardless of being friends or even wife/husband.
Now if these can be done to earthly rulers how much more should we do to our Father in heaven ?
Notice His point isn't to force people to kneel down while praying but it's a reminder that we should reconsider because it's true we may not be able to kneel whenever we want to pray such as while driving, taking shower,cooking etc and Our Heavenly Friend clearly understands that but when possible, kneeling is part of showing reverence and honor to our Mighty Friend. Nevertheless we have examples in the Bible that can be of help.
Let the Bible help us in reasoning and not mere words or emotions.

You know, I think that given the increasing irreverence and self-centeredness of society, it might not hurt to make kneeling the proper posture when addressing the Creator of the universe.

True personal experience on the importance of kneeling:
SDA here and though I have yet to watch this vid, I thought I would give my personal experiences.
I learned early in my walk with God yo kneel when I can as its simply and act of humbleness and acknowledgement.
How did I learn this?
I used to get some very distrubing dreams that troubled me upon waking. When I would go back to sleep those dreams retuned.
As I lay upon my bed thinking what to do next, I naturally decided to pray and ask God to take away those dream. So I did this, Ibprayed while laying there and the went back to sleep. But sure enough those disturbing dreams returned.
So out of desperation I got down off the bed onto my knees pleading to God to take those dreams away. Voila, it worked, went back to sleep and slept like a baby for the rest of the night.
Now this was not just a one time thing. Several times over the years I would have distubing dreams and out of tiredness I would just send up a prayer without kneeling but the distubances continued. Not until I got on my knees did the peaceful sleep retun.

You should definitely kneel if u can. However, I talk to God all day & when I'm lying in bed. Sometimes, I am most sincerest when I'm lying in bed; talking to God.

I know kneeling is important and respectful to our Father God. But for me my knees cannot handle kneeling and it makes me feel guilty and shameful when everyone around me kneels and I can't.
I understand. The LORD knows our hearts!
I feel the same...but the pain takes away my focus and concentration. I really want to kneel and feel very guilty about not doing it because I want to give God the honor He deserves.
When I'm driving to work in morning my whole trip in is in prayer, when I can I kneel when I pray. All have sinned thank GOD and humble yourself before HIM.
Even though I live with body pain I need to try and kneel in prayer at least on the Sabbath
Solomon kneeled when he dedicated the temple and also when he prayed. In 1 King 8:22 it said that he stood up on the alter before praying, but after he finished his prayer, verse 54 and 55 said that after praying he arose, stood up and blessed the congregation. This means that he knelt.
Thank you for reminding us to be reverent before the Most Holy Creator and God. I agree with your words. It is perfectly fine to talk with Jesus all day long but reverence in prayer is something we have waffled away from indeed.

Thank you, Doug, I am convinced, that we need the kneeling prayers in church, too. Sitting is even worse, little respect befor God. So it seems to me. When I was at 3ABN as a german person, I was confused by that habbit, remain seated during Sabbath churchtime. There has to be more dedication, kneeling befor God - this change will be felt, I believe 😊
I have to dissagree with you saying that sitting is little respect before God. By saying so you are saying that king David showed little respect to God in 1 Chronicles 17 verse 16 and so on.

If our Saviour LORD JESUS CHRIST knelt before Our LORD THE HEAVENLY FATHER, What else do we need than to heartily and humbly follow Our ONLY SAVIOUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. All the major and minor prophets and all the disciples of our LORD JESUS knelt down before the most Holy and powerful GOD. THE HOLY SPIRIT. Until the day we are unable to kneel down, let's consistently humble ourselves to pray and PRAISE the LORD. Amen Amen 🙌🏻🙏🏻

Try to kneel if I can in church, but those pews don't provide much space. I have no excuse due to small church/less members, but I do understand the posture we must take.
Standing in pray? Many do I agree, I wonder if they do as well at home?
God knows the heart, and many believe they are doing correct service?

But there are scriptures that say we should kneel down, and Jesus christ was an example for us; now if you are in condition to kneel down great, we should do it. I’ve noticed British churches I’ve been to, in Scotland and England, very, very rarely kneel to pray, it’s not how it was in my Australian SDA church, it makes me feel very uncomfortable.

In formal worship, kneeling should be the proper pose. You're making a public declaration. People DO notice.

Not necessary, but once in a while you need to humble yourself and show submission. I pray all day long, in the car, while working, sitting at a desk or whatever. But sometimes I will kneel or prostrate myself.

Kneeling is a sign of Reverence to God I notice at my church even the young people do not kneel down they sit and most of the women do not either why because they're dresses are too nice I believe everyone should kneel if your elderly that's different but when we kneel we acknowledge God as Ruler creator and king

God Almighty does know and He understands. I can’t kneel down either. But, when we are in Heaven, in the presence of our King, we will have the ability to kneel down before Him as our Redeemer.

The Bible shows kneeling in prayer. That's all that needs to be said. Now it's understandable that some can't. God knows your heart, and He also knows your physical state. So He will have no issue with those who are not able. Then, of course, there are times when kneeling may not be possible like at work, out in public, supermarkets, etc. God understands this as well. For me, I pray on my knees in the morning and before bed. That's when I'm thanking Him, giving Him all praise and glory, and asking for His guidance, protection, and strength. Throughout my day, I talk to Him, and I may need to ask for some help at times. I can't always get on my knees. God understands that. He's always there for me. God knows our hearts. He is understanding. So you kneel when you can and when you can't. It's ok.

I would love to kneel but I have had two knee replacements and their metal and when I get down on my knees, it hurts so bad I can hardly get up so this is why I don’t kneel.
If you're able to kneel, kneel. If you can't, you can't. I say as long as you're praying and sincere, its between you and The Lord. Pay no attention to what others say. Its just their own judgement. My life is busy and sometimes I'm running late for work, and in my home the quietest place is the bathroom, so I pray when I'm in the shower. While I'm washing the grime away, I'm in deep conversation with my Lord. And those prayers last about 20-25 minutes. When I'm finished showerin, I feel refreshed, clean, and happier with the time I had with My Lord. Just He and myself alone.
My granny is 90 yrs old and she can't kneel anymore and i think God understand
Pastor Doug is not referencing what you are. The general posture should be reverence. Is it ok to pray in true shower? Of course, but you should take time to spend with God and if you are able, kneel in reverence to commune with God. Pastor Doug says it’s not necessary to always kneel. The overall posture of most Christian’s is not one of reverence

Our kneeling in prayer before God shows humility and dependence on Him. That shower prayer, I don't think God is happy with that cos you putting self before God. You must get up early and make time to spend with the Lord and kneel in prayer before Him. There are churches that don't kneel for prayers and they have a carpeted church. There are those that kneel on concrete to pray. The 3 Hebrew boys did not kneel because that statue was not important to them so when you don't kneel in prayer God is not important to you. As Ps. Doug says we don't have to kneel in prayer for every prayer. There are shooting prayers when you are driving, at work, shopping, etc. It's important to kneel in church & private & family worship. It's a shame not to kneel in prayer IF you can.
@@kcb5336 Oh I know a man who made a big show of kneeling in front of everyone in church service when he prayed but he had an affair on his wife for almost twenty years while he was doing all of this kneeling. He wasn’t humble he was gaslighting everyone. I am glad God looks at a person’s heart a person’s intent, something you and I can’t do.

Pastor Doug did acknowledge that in some cases such as this, it's not expected that you kneel, but that you assume a posture of humbleness before God.
