Luffy stabbing himself in the face is actually in the manga. I got confused seeing a lot of reactors surprised with that scene because I didn't know it wasn't in the anime since I'm a manga reader lol.
My friends who are not into One Piece really enjoyed it. And i think the general consensus is that people who haven't seen One Piece enjoyed it. We are just nitpicky because we've seen the anime and/or read the manga, but overall, it was so enjoyable. I remember my friend telling me that OPLA is not "cringey" so I guess they did a great job!
For what it's worth, I'd never watched or read One Piece, but I liked this series so much that I started watching the anime. I'm just at the start of Loguetown, and I'm loving it so far!
I don’t understand people who are complaining about the live action. As a fan of the anime and manga, the live adaptation is beautifully done, and is literally Oda’s dream becoming a reality. Oda himself has been involved in this from the beginning and has given his stamp of approval. It’s the best adaptation I’ve seen.
@@ShiroNurathis shouldn’t be an issue 😂😂 y’all forget that at the end of the day it is all a business. Netflix needs to profit from it all. This 8 episodes cost 150+ million dollars plus advertisements etc that’s still more.
for people who read the manga, this adaptation is on point! and i'm gonna be in trouble for saying this but i like it more than the anime 🥲👍🏼 and yes this live action is based on the manga, so the plot and everything is still accurate.. if there is one thing i'm worry about is how they gonna make chopper and brook as a real life character 😂
My parents know about this show.. I've talked to them about OP several times, and they couldn't have cared less.. NOW my mom's like "Did you see that new pirate show on netflix!?"
The HINTS, there are already drops. Luffy said to Alvida "you're dumb as a SEA COW" remember the SEA COW Momoo. Also, the wanted posters there's Jango, Foxy, Bellamy, Buggy. Another thing in the restaurant when Luffy and Koby are eating, Luffy told Koby "Maybe I can fly, grab into a Bird or something", remember in the anime episode 3 he grabbed the bird.
10/10 just for the adventure feels and fun, devil fruit powers are hard to pull off in live action but they did ok, the sanji & zeff survival backstory hits hard
Oda said there's a lot of changes, and he is so ready to face good and bad feedbacks about this live action. Oda and his team participated in this from beginning to end, I have no complains. Oda approves? Then I’m in. I don't really care if the actors doesn't look like the anime characters at all, or if they look older, younger, or whatever. As long as they portrayed their roles well? I have nothing against it and they're all good (I've finished all episodes already and I'm rewatching it again). Main cast (straw hat crew) are all good actors and perfect cast for me. Emily (Nami's actor) especially gives me goosebumps and makes me love nami even more because she portrayed nami well. This live action made me love one piece even more. I don't mind if they changes something especially if oda approves and participated on it. OP is Oda's creation, I'm not in right place to complain about anything. Plus, the spirit of OP is there, it's strong and gives me nostalgia when I watched it. Plus, all people who participated on this did so great. I appreciate their love, passion, and hard work🙌 I need more episodes, I hope they make season 2.
Luffy is the worst actor in the show, and I think I like Live Action more than manga east blue for cutting shit I don't like. He might have the Luffy spirit and energy, but he's a terrible actor.
@@Waytothedawn63 to me he just comes off as trying far too hard.. everything he says sounds like a little kid trying to put on a tough guy act and voice. combined with the way he acts he just looks a bit like a prick.. luffy was genuine about everything and never did or said anything beacuse he thought it would make him look cool
5:12 - yes, luffys face scar is because he stab himself. Anime had censored this scene, but it was not censored in the manga 8:55 - remember in Whiskey Peak arc zoro says someone that yes one of u came to recruit me but I killed him? This is that guy
In the beginning, buggy really was a menace, exploded orange town, killed a bunch of people in cold blood, they just maked him more of a gag character later in the show, obviously the jokes is still there but the man was a threat
I will give this live action a 8/10. That's a fair score but honestly, it is still good And this live action is already trending on every countries. It broke the curse, even though there are some flaws but there is potential in the future if we get a season 2
One of the few reaction channels that actually remembered about Boroque works trying to recruit Zoro before he met Luffy. Nicely done Also fluffy stabs himself in the face right at the beginning of the manga. So they are fallowing manga more than anime (there will be at least one more scene from manga that was changed in anime later)
What I love about Luffy's fighting style in the live action is that even when we don't see the CGI of his stretchyness, his actual movements really come across as someone who fights knowing his body can stretch, bend, and bounce. The way he swung through the ropes on Alvida's ship, or how he hopped over the Marine during the Shelltown fight both looked like his body was springy/bendy despite there being no CGI stretchyness in those shots. The addition of that type of movement really makes the CGI moments work better.
Fun fact: in the anime, shanks sees Luffy eating the devil fruit and hilariously tries to shake it outta him (obviously), but the live action plays more with the manga. Shanks doesn’t see Luffy eating the fruit and only finds out when he tried grabbing Luffy’s arm and it stretches
I already binged watch the live action show and really enjoyed it. This is coming from someone who has not seen the manga/anime, I really loved the story and endeared myself to these characters. I loved your reactions and hope you will both continue with the series. 😊👍👍❤️
I give it 9/10, my only worry is that if netflix will intervene on what Oda thinks and wants... 8 episodes covered 100 chapters of manga...i also love what the dynamic between Garp and Koby because we got to see what we miss during their time..more like giving us the point of view on Koby when he was under Garp...
Its really easy to nitpick so much about the Live Action but realistically its actually done its job so efficiently considering how many opportunities there are to ruin it. Its important to remember also that this is 50'ish episodes of the anime condensed into less than 8 hours. I think there are a handful of scenes through out the entire 8 episodes that I would have directed/produced differently. However, a handful of scenes HARDLY ruins the whole season, it was really solid and leaves you wanting more. 8/10
I've never seen your channel before. But I've been watching everyone's reactions and getting contact high off their enjoyment. I just wanted to say that I loved both of your smiles very much. You both look so happy. ❤😊 Have a great week !!
This show will continue in season 2, because they set up baroque work in this season. That why they put mr. 7 in here, and remember in ending episode 1,garp and bogard talk about baroque work. We got alabasta in second season
I do believe that you can actually see Dragon in this episode. There is a person with a green cape like Dragon in the anime at the execution, so possible that they added him in to the live action early..
For a live action anime adaption, its the best one ive seen. A few little things that i didn't like, one being the fishmen cosmetics look cheap & stiff, also the snails look cheaply done as well & Sanji having a british accent lmao but overall i enjoyed it. The pacing is definitely faster, since theres so much content they're trying to squeeze in, like revealing Garb being Luffy's grandpa right after the Kaya arc. 9/10 for me
Oda said that Sanji would be British in the real world. You clearly don’t know much. Also your complain about the fish man and snails is dumb, because what did you expect them to do 💀
Before I even started the anime, I thought Gomu Gomu's power was silly and weird. I think they did their best in live action. I actually liked Luffy's fight scenes more in live action. I always find the Gomu Gomu power silly and Luffy fight in the anime was a little bit boring. In general, I liked Zoro and Sanji's fight scenes more in anime. Some characters in live action are pretty good. They did the justice character and story progression very well. The characters are not exactly the same, for example Zoro looks cooler and smarter, Luffy got a little smarter. Although the characters were similar, they could not be exactly one-to-one. The behavior of some characters was exaggerated in the anime as a comedy element, it was definitely better not to do so in live action. The main cast definitely gave me the feeling of the characters in the anime. It has been very successful in this aspect. So the absurd element was less, which made One Piece's live action look better in my eyes. Because although I like the anime, the pacing is extremely slow, yes, the development is good, but when I catch up with the current episodes in the future, Unfortunately, I couldn't get the old pleasure and fun from One Piece now.
I see you guys are surprised at Luffy stabbing himself under his eye, that actually did happen in the first chapter of the one piece manga. But the anime cut that because it seemed too violent for a child to do that.
I have not had this much fun watching a live action in general in so long. It being OP helps for sure but I was literally grinning and giggling the entire way through. Easily the best anime adaptation but honestly if it wasn't it still would be an amazing show.
Great adaptation! They stay true to canon while accepting that they can't possibly recreate an anime in the real world - so they add their own spin of realism with some additional character quirks to progress the dialogue. Some of the cgi and fight scenes are corny, but it's hard to match the pacing of isolated manga panels. But for OP fans, I think the corniness adds to the comedic vibe One Piece has always had - it's goofy! It's surely difficult to make Luffy's powers looks realistic/natural. Early One Piece is really goofy as it develops the mannerism of all the characters. Having to cast real people is the only setback. Zoro's actor is a great fit, but his attitude or cadence is different, along with his facial expressions - these are just things that are subjective to the actors. I think some people who are introduced to OP through this version, won't catch on to lots of the comedy in the habits and mannerisms of characters - as it hasn't been developed in as much detail as the manga or anime.
Where the wanted posters are, there are characters that only appear in 600+ episodes in the anime. For those who are not from the world of One Piece, be it manga/anime, you won a luxury summary.

Definitely love these live action videos, first time I watched the whole video, cuz it’s easier to when it’s in English, I watch the anime in dub so it makes sense, hard to not to when 1000 dub episodes are on Crunchyroll, keep them up please
I came back to finish the video. As for Luffy's powers, I think it's because of the difficulty in adapting. Marvel also struggles with special effects, making characters with elastic powers.
Congratulations OPLA for surpassing record of stranger Things 4 n Wednesday became no 1 Netflix show in 84 country. Great achievement of live action curse
honestly you have to rewatch the series when you catch up with the anime/manga. you cannot notice things in this series that you cannot recognize just because you don't know most thing that you will find out. just at first look, you cannot know about the zoro's part at sphinx because it's explaines in a SBS (litteraly an ASK to Oda things about the manga that it's not shown because secondary to the main story). also, the rufy part that stabs himself is quietly legit,: that happen in a similar way in the main story too.
this live action is actually the reason i started watching one piece anime!!! i fell in love at the first sight, it was like a whole new world for me..and im not into pirate kinda stuff u know..after i finished watching the first season i thought that i should start watching the anime while waiting for the second season!!! and now i am Barto in real life😂😂 One Piece is that kind of masterpiece: once u dig into it, you'll never be able to stop😮💨🤌 Oda is just a GENIUS!! may he live long and healthy life🙏🙏
Pretty good adaption. Yea few changes that a bit annoying etc but its really good considering its OP which is a really hard one to do. I enjoyed it. Hopefully can do mkre and at least alabaster
yeah, they changed things but they kept the essence of everything in place, and that's the most important and also why the other live actions failed, another thing about the fighting scenes, this arc in the anime is really old, you can't really expect a good animation there, so static fighting was to be expected back then.
i think you guys said a good point that probably is the recipe for good live action anime is to follow the source material but the actors shouldn't try to act like anime characters and keep it very human
Me please & it's an adaptation based off the manga not the anime but it won't be a one for one and they're adding in a lot of cover page stories & SBS from the manga & glad you enjoy the first episode
It does make sense. I feel kind of bad about this, but I always hated anime Coby--I felt the intensity of the melodrama made him annoying, and so very flat. The anime's penchant for literally constant exaggeration meant a total lack of any subtleties/subtext, which imo removes intrigue & artistry. But live action Coby I felt was very authentic, believable, relatable, and just overall more endearing and likeable. Much easier to root for! I'm an insane Zoro simp, so I was shocked to find I enjoyed Coby JUST as much an Zoro in Episode 1!

Congratulation OPLA becoming no 1 netflix show in 84 country broke record stranger things4 n wednesday.
The is my favorite show this year!
i think you guys said a good point that probably is the recipe for good live action anime is to follow the source material but the actors shouldn't try to act like anime characters and keep it very human
I already watch all 8 episodes and it's awesome, but of course there's something that I'm not satisfied with
Me please & it's an adaptation based off the manga not the anime but it won't be a one for one and they're adding in a lot of cover page stories & SBS from the manga & glad you enjoy the first episode
I'd be super happy with this series if OP anime didn't exist but I like it slightly less cos I'm comparing but it's not bad
The curse broke 🔥
Doesn't make sense how much i prefer this coby over the one in the anime 😂 this one is actually not boring
@@denisel1553 agreeee, the melodrama is too strong on him 🤣 at least this one is more direct and actually made the plot move forward
yooo why I'm so early
fast
I don't think the pacing is that quick, it's just that the anime is extremely slow.
Nice reaction
i was right, the live action is pretty gooood, the only good anime live action so far, respect the original and still have it's own good
I loved it
SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESH!!! TOP TIER !
