i can't imagine how painful this was for jaime's family. sending your kid to school like any regular day only for something so unbelievably gruesome to happen to him- and by a fellow kid that he thought was his friend. jesus christ.

So the boy, a kid, did what he was supposed to do. He went to an adult when he suspected someone was hurt. But the adult security guard brushed him off. So his friend and him felt the need to take it upon themselves to help. In doing so, these two kids saw a gruesome, gory mess of a murder scene. The adult should have at least checked it out and not brushed them off. There's no excuse in that situation for those two kids to have to see what they saw. And I imagine they will be traumatized for life. Unacceptable

I mean that was part of it. They let everyone know that they were mad because he was portrayed as good looking and charming which they thought was bad. Even though its the truth. So you aren't really right here

@@TheSilverwing999 Absolutely none of the families cared that he was portrayed as good looking. In reality he was very charismatic and people still fawned over him after they knew his crimes. The families grievances were the fact they weren't contacted and the carelessness shown for how this would impact still grieving families. One of the family members really put it in perspective, "We’re all one traumatic event away from the worst day of your life being reduced to your neighbor’s favorite binge show." Dahmer killed people all the way to 1991 so this isn't some crime forgotten to time. People advocating that the families were mad he looked good are just parroting what other viewers had issues with not victims families.

there’s this show that used to play on a&e at like 11pm every night, called “killer kids” and i would watch it when i was like 12, ever time it played, it honestly taught me of how to be aware of bad situations with other kids at the time , but not gonna lie it definitely scarred me. there was one case where these two girls lured her friends out to an abandoned building and attempted to kill her i think as a sacrifice ?? but she lived and was able to get help, and that episode always scared tf out of me. i think the girls were all like 13/15 too so it made it just that scarier for me

That is the problem with true crime; this is so uncommon that we are watching a case from almost 20 years ago. There are 8 billion people on the planet. Don't worry about it happening to your own family. Sugar (and artificial sweeteners for other reasons) is a much bigger threat to your child. Not even joking. Just make sure to get your kid to like vegetables young, and you'll be doing more for them than anything you could accomplish trying to prevent this kind of rare horrific event.

I wouldn’t say the ethics of true crime is “Twitter discourse”. The problem is in the way cases are presented. The Bailey Sarian’s (spelling?) of the world will do makeup and giggle over the victims’ deaths, treating it like it’s purely entertainment and not something very real that traumatized victims’ families. People have come forward saying they knew someone whose death a true crime youtuber/podcaster covered and have been directly harmed by the way that person covered the case. It can be genuinely harmful. There are some amazing video essays about the ethics behind true crime, some by people whose content isn’t even political, so I’d recommend looking into it if you’re interested

I usually enjoy the court cases much more. Plain facts, less sensationalism, victim impact statements to demonstrate how badly people were effected and watching assholes get their shit wrecked by a jury.
Unfortunately, only so many court cases are filmed.
A lot of the true crime documentaries give me the creeps and when comparing them to the cases when presented, sometimes factually incorrect.
I'm a fan of justice. Not a fan of murder or those who commit it.

It was interesting to see some people in chat question the sentence that this kid received. I think this disorder happens in about 2% of humans and we don't understand exactly how it works but these people are not wired the same way so to speak. From what I have learned about pre-historic man, when humans were primarily nomadic, if an individual displayed enough antisocial tendencies tribes would banish them to the wilderness and essentially let "nature take its course". They likely did that because they knew these type of individuals were "unfixable", essentially immune to rehabilitation or cultural indoctrination and understood the threat posed. I 100% agree with Hasan, these people just can't be helped even with modern techniques.
I also have a slightly wacky theory: that some early patriarchal societies formed as a result of these types of individuals not being expelled by early farming communities, due to the new abundance of food, and a slightly elevated sense of complacency due to the new life style. The first kings that went on crazy murderous rampages probably had antisocial personality disorders and eliminated any sort of threat to their personal power including the original cultures that they were at first a part of.

And even PS4 was a great jump at least for the fact that games didn't take 2 full minutes to load stuff, unless you're playing pre-patch Bloodborne. PS5 is barely a jump though, I'll agree. Currently playing Jedi Fallen Order on PS5 (PS4 disc with upgrade patch) and can barely tell a difference in the experience on PS5. Some games stand out though like the Demon's Souls remake

He appears to be thinking x y z... Look how he does a b c... A pure narrative is on display... The true crime, unsavable, must be brought to heel narratives are lapped up by anyone. CAN NOT BE DIAGNOSED BEFORE 18...there is a real reason for that

  • @changedmynamebcyallwouldnt..

why wasn’t he found not guilty by the reason of insanity when he clesrly had aspd??

Because that isn’t insanity. ASPD does not automatically make you a killer. And it doesn’t satisfy most rules regarding that defense. They know it’s wrong and they have control when they perform illegal actions.

I will never understand how ppl exualize and obsess over literal murderers. Like maybe you should look up the VICTIMS IN ALL THIS. THEY ARE THE ONES THAT DESERVE THE RECOGNITION NOT THE KILLER
