This was a great video for getting a view of this role. I have just got an opportunity to become a student success coach, and I am so excited. And to hear about your duties and how you particularly take on things just made me more eager to start!
I love all of your information!!! I have my second Zoom interview this week for a position at the art college I went too!!! I’m excited for this opportunity.
As a newer student and financial aid advisor at the college I attended, I am finding myself feeling less confident, but knowing that we have the same struggles and distractions makes me feel better. It can be really stressful to stay on top of tasks, but I still try my best.
Please keep making these videos, I love them! I work in college admissions and I want to transition to career/academic advising soon this year and this is very helpful! :)
Thank you for sharing! I love that you have an advising notebook to keep track of notes for yourself. Very useful! You said that for the second half of your day, you use that for walk-ins only? Is that something you chose to do or your boss recommended you to do? Take care!
Love your videos! I’m interested in working in higher education. I just finished my first teaching year in middle school. I teach career investigation.. Do you think teaching experience and also having been in college as an international student help to get a job? I really don’t know where to start. Do you have some summer off?
I been thinking about transitioning into an academic advisor or counselor role, I have worked in property management for 3 years and the duties are similar, and my degrees are in mass communications and digital marketing. Do you think this would help???
Hi! Would you consider academic advising to be a high pressure/high stress career? I’m interested but my job at the moment in customer service is very much micromanaged which I hate
Sorry for the late reply. I think it’s high pressure if you aren’t trained properly and don’t have a supportive team to teach you how to manage your case load of students. If I would have had those opportunities as an AA I would have loved it

I’m about to start my career as an academic advisor! This video was super helpful, and it made me feel more at ease because now I know what to expect.
Thank you for this great video! Thinking of pivoting from teaching to academic advising. Your video was so informative and your child is adorable.
Thanks for the information, I will graduate in May of this year and hope to have this opportunity for an Academic Advisor position.

Hey! I decided to do it that way. I just have so many students I’m trying to find ways to be available to them. Thanks for commenting 😊
I’m an advisor and I appreciate you for sharing!
