There's a reason why a good number of the most sold car models in the world are reliable, fuel efficient and practical vehicles.
This car is great. I've just bought a 2021 CT 200h with the same beautiful interior. I previously owned a Toyota Auris, which was also a very reliable and cost-effective car. I was ready to upgrade and debate between the Toyota Corolla GR Sport or the Corolla Excell and the CT 200h Sport. Once I sat in the Lexus and took it for a test drive, I knew it was the car for me. I am fully aware that the tech i.e. the navigation system is not as good as Toyota's, but I can deal with that because everything else on the CT 200h outweighs the Corolla.
I've had a 2013 CT200h for over 4 years and it's been fabulous. I average over 57mpg (on a decent run I can get mid 60s). I love it so much that I'm now changing it for a 2020 model. Great car, totally reliable and fantastic build quality plus interior Lexus luxury.
I have a 2015 F sport, and I'm very much into cars (have a Celica & 200sx). Very pleased with it, so comfy, quiet and looks the part. Only thing it lacks is some oomph but it still shows a lot up off the lights and when the electric motor kicks in, it does do what you need it to in overtaking. I'd say its just high speed and big hills that it suffers with. Interior is a lovely place to be, I have the rose red. Mine isn't as specced up as the one in the video being a little older. I commute all over the UK but mainly in and out of London which its perfect for. I do keeping thinking I wish I got a Toyota Crown athlete/majesta and sold my celica instead though....

I’m in Australia where driving quickly is close to impossible and I’ve just traded in my 2018 Golf GTI for a 2018 F Sport with only 26k km on it. Probably driven by an 80 year old, as there is barely a mark on it and it still smells new. The GTI has been good, but I’m starting to see the inevitable reliability niggles and I can almost feel it’s eyes on my bank account now that the extended warranty is done! The drive is going to be totally different, of course, but as I mostly do short trips around town on errands, it’s going to be just fine for that. For the long drives I’ll take the Jag XJ8 4.0!!!
So many reviews i've seen on this and nobody bothered to even do proper research.. its an E-cvt planetary transmission.. got very little to do with traditional cvt's.. its really a little engineering marvel yet simple and super reliable
I've had many cars - many. The CT is one of the best I've owned. When we moved from Denmark to Norway we need new cars. My wife wanted a hybrid, but not a Toyota. I showed her the CT. She wanted it. Later her brother spilled the beans. She moved first, and I came later. When I arrived I bought a Rav4 plug in. The misses commandeered it after a short while, and know the CT is my daily driver, and I love it. Normally I change car every third year, but the CT I don't want to part with. PS! The steering tightens up when in sports mode.

To completely switch TC off (both in a Lexus and a Toyota) you press and hold the button for a few seconds. If you only press it it switches off only some of the functions.
The wind deflectors on this car are an absurdity. The car is already thinked for optimal air penetration. I've got one and there is no wind noise on highway. The interior of mine is luminous but I've white leather interior and no glassint. This one is a F-Sport version black ceiling also. Yes the Mark Levison system has 13 speakers but the bamboo speakers are only for the Panasonic audio system
0-60 times are irrelevant in real world driving conditions. Ive never bothered about it and never will. I enjoy driving cars for their designed purpose. The road isn’t a race track.
while i agree with your mindset, the 0-60 number describes how long it would take to get from sitting at a red freeway traffic light on an on-ramp to going freeway speed. the most annoying thing is people entering the freeway going 10 under the speedlimit
I have that mark levinson is my Lexus is300h which has 15 speakers, just let me tell you it blows the bollox out of you, what a system, Lexus is better than Audi Merc hands down, but badge snobs ignore them.
I love the way this car looks but it kills me that it doesn't actually have sporty performance, but they gave it a sport suspension. Smh. If it's going to be slower it should have a more luxury ride. I really don't understand their reasoning.
Just bought one of these last week, full Lexus history, low miles. Only used in normal mode so far. I wanted an automatic after having manuals for years and the eCVT is a huge leap forward over the traditional steel belt and pulley system that Subaru are still using. I had an Outback and it was a great car but the CVT was sluggish in very cold weather for the first couple of miles. No idea why they don’t adopt the eCVT. Anyway, I didnt get this CT to accelerate like an idiot every time the lights change, nobody needs to be doing that. It pulls well enough for its designed purpose, joins motorways with no problem, climbs hills equally untroubled. I know I have previously commented on this but once you get to the speed limit, what is the point of 300+ bhp ? I think for most it’s simply an ego thing and showing off a car with a certain badge and the “right” numbers on the back to denote a high powered engine. Mostly men, the sort who have the arrogant attitude to start with who wouldn’t appreciate what the Lexus brand stands for anyway.
Almost similair, not as maybe luxury feeling might be the corolla. Owning a 2019 corolla 2l hybride, its a dream of a machine. It has power i can tell you, its something that you wont think of when you see a hybride badge. Most people really underestimate the corolla, might not be the taste to many but it makes me smile everytime i step into it. It even is very very economical. Got a 4.8l / 100km. (Pure highway ofcourse and keeping it between 90 -100kmph) Which for a 2l is really good. With the 2019 business sport intro model it is sporty but very luxury for me. (From a 98 civic to 2006 civic, a polo... i dont want to talk about that one. To a crz (lots of fun for a manual hybride) and a chr and now the corolla. The corolla has lta (lane tracing assist) not fully following lines but you can relax and let it steer itself from time to time. Also lastly i rarely use the pedals, and sliding the stick to the left to manual shift is not amazing its meh. But its really quick at a traffic light!

I do love the mark levinson system but I've not heard it in the ct200. I have in the 98 ls400 when I was young and many years later in my brothers gs300 2000. Since then I've tried it in his later gs450h 2005 and can't fault it at all. I love my sound but find it hard to get it right in a car like I do at home
I have the ct with the mark levinson, and i can tell you its insanely good. Its better than most 150k+ cars to be honest.. everybody who takes a ride with me is blown away. The bass is very big and punchy. The highs are clear. No distortion even add its loudest setting.
The infotainment really isn't that bad, its basic and intuitive so easy to use. Its not a tech marvel but it does what it needs to. And the mousepad is really like an xbox/PS menu, it snaps onto icons, really takes only a day or so to get used to. As for the CT specifically, i do wish it had a more powerful engine. And the interior design is probably the worst out of all "modern" lexus designs, thing is ugly.
Yes it has an EV mode,Battery is for mainly lower speeds,Engine self charges the battery and then in lower speeds goes into EV mode,Great in built up travel.
@@davidlabarrwrong. After 40mph you can't drive in "only electric mode", but when you push the hybrid use both sources. The system is all calibrated to give you power or charge battery depending on your demand on the acceleretor
It always use both or charge the battery. It automatically regulates what to use. If you go at 130kph it pushes constantly with terminal engine, but if you accelerate the electric kick in, if you decelerate it charges, if you are at constant speed and go a little downhill, the termic engine will almost idle and the electric make big work. Anyway its not the ideal car for motorway in terms of consumption but still close to a diesel with same power, while on country and city roads you get close to 30km/L
I believe, the european Lexus executives are working for BMW at this point. In axing the CT, IS, GS; RC and ES, they have make sure to have NO product of appeal for the cost councious consumer that is forced to choose between expensives and hugly shitboxes. Especially the CT and the IS, had always a devoted fanbase. To not have them around anymore is ringing the first chime for the death of Lexus.
Toyota themselves have moved a bit upmarket, so there was no point anymore for affordable Lexus, as it’s a market overlap. It’s a shame, I agree. But if you want a ‘new CT’ (or IS) then a high-spec new gen Corolla is the answer.
There is something fundamentaly wrong with MB, BMW, Audi reviewers, if these are compared with Lexus they always find something wrong in it and they compare these german made cars together, like 3 vs 1 and Lexus is underdog. I being driven all these brands and I found Lexus build quality much better. Mercedes C-class is shameful display how it is build and materials are used, rattling and creeking cheap plastic on dash, everything is loose like it is super glued together, and I mean MY2017 model. Audi is best from these but not even close how Lexus is made of. I do not care how fast it is on 0-60mph, I care more how seamless and relaxing ride is. My last and recent car is Lexus IS, now MY2018 300h and it is fast enough to all situations, and I must say to germans, try Mark Levinson sound and learn how it is made, no Bmw, Mercedes and Audi are even same planet with it, maybe young people like rubber bass and sizzling trebles but people who really likes music ML is only choise.

@@MD-ku7er being a 2021 model does it have android auto / apple carplay?
Update, gave the CT200H to my mum and bought a Toyota Crown Hybrid lol
@@RandomPandaX78amazing choice dude! Am also in the market for a ct or a crown hybrid
Quick question on the crown, does yours happen to have the LKA optioned? Also how’s the boot space? Heard its tiny due to the hybrid battery,,
@@elonwong I've got a GWS204 so I don't believe it has LKA, but it does have a front radar and will follow a car in front etc. Boot space is absolutely fine, much bigger than a CT200H.

@@elonwong I don't believe you can use it before 30mph (mine is converted). Max speed is 68mph/115kmh
Ive had mine for a few months now and its excellent. Suspension is a bit hard on the f sport but the seats are so comfortable its fine. It is great on country roads as it corners so well. Also gets you in the LEZ zone for not a lot of money. Great review
Car is known for having hard suspension in general, fsport makes then HARD.
Yes the booth floor is high but one advantage is that there is a spare tire and jack, and that’s quite rare in a hybrid
I keep reading online the suspension is rock hard
On the comfort version it's firm and on the F-sport it's, diplomatically said, pretty firm.
@@karimtemri1664in the older version they were harder. Depends also from the wheels.
Later the chassis have been made more stiff with more weldings, and the suspension made softer to keep the same handling. I came from a 2016 Mercedes C and had no complaints (I have 16" wheels)
@@edobiotec I read a review by Jeremy clarkson. He complains the chassis isnt lively at all , the suspension is hard, the gbox is slow and the engine is lazy. He wrote that the Toyota prius is actually better to drive
I have a 2012 with about 1,80 k kms here in Canada. I got lucky that I got a sweet deal on a use one with all the service records since day 1. I agree with most of the things mentioned in the video. It is a great car to go from A to B. However, driving a GS or an LS is just wayyyy wayyy wayyyyy better. The driving is as much as a toyota experience. But it is a lexus and it saves ton of money on gas. I wish if i had the Mark Levinson system, I would not complain about a single thing but hey I am happy with the purchase.
I had a 1995 LS, and even if it's a great car I've got tired of the 13l/100km of premium gas guzzling... 150$ for a full tank that only gives you 500km is kinda crazy

How is it with snow @savjottoor7910
@@Stickupkid0201vr It is not well performing in the snow. I had a 2004 accord with FWD brand new michelin tires, never had any problems, CT200h with brand new tires was not a confident car. The market for custom infotainment systems for this car is massive and I can see why

You didn’t mention the rear boot cover bar is also removable for loading bigger items.
To completely switch TC off (both in a Lexus and a Toyota) you press and hold the button for a few seconds. If you only press it it switches off only some of the functions.

Exactly. All I really need is my Prius is power mode so I can jump out of a situation if the streets get gnarly
while i agree with your mindset, the 0-60 number describes how long it would take to get from sitting at a red freeway traffic light on an on-ramp to going freeway speed. the most annoying thing is people entering the freeway going 10 under the speedlimit
I’m still driving my ‘13 CT200 with 183,000 miles and still getting 48 mpg. Everything works like new.
Thanks for the surprising content !
erm Lexus tend to hold their value better than german cars thanks to their reliabilty.
I have that mark levinson is my Lexus is300h which has 15 speakers, just let me tell you it blows the bollox out of you, what a system, Lexus is better than Audi Merc hands down, but badge snobs ignore them.
I agree its the best in its class. Even better than cars triple the price
(Pure highway ofcourse and keeping it between 90 -100kmph)
Which for a 2l is really good.
I own this car, should do engine braking,to get more mpg, easy 2live with car,low maintenance 😊
it is that dark the tint from the factory!
I am from south asia and my father has decided to buy a car that will be good for city and long drives. so my question is this car good for both?
A Dunkin’ Donuts coffee add with Ben a fleck and bad babie…..I think she might be some type of gremlin, add water and it goes through various changes, mostly bad ones!!
If want acceleration, move on, if you want well built, as an owner, changed head lights and 12 volt battery, 135k. Handles Harding steering very well.

This or a Prius?
I do love the mark levinson system but I've not heard it in the ct200. I have in the 98 ls400 when I was young and many years later in my brothers gs300 2000. Since then I've tried it in his later gs450h 2005 and can't fault it at all. I love my sound but find it hard to get it right in a car like I do at home
I have the ct with the mark levinson, and i can tell you its insanely good. Its better than most 150k+ cars to be honest.. everybody who takes a ride with me is blown away. The bass is very big and punchy. The highs are clear. No distortion even add its loudest setting.
What spec do you need to get that sound system?
Premier or Takumi
The infotainment really isn't that bad, its basic and intuitive so easy to use. Its not a tech marvel but it does what it needs to. And the mousepad is really like an xbox/PS menu, it snaps onto icons, really takes only a day or so to get used to.
As for the CT specifically, i do wish it had a more powerful engine. And the interior design is probably the worst out of all "modern" lexus designs, thing is ugly.
Does the sound system come as standard on these.?
Hi can you please guide us about ct engine 🙏 is cvt a reliable gearbox as I have heard you need to spend money on a gearbox after 100000 km thank you
2:45 every non turbo ICE does that.
It also has an EV mode right? What does that do exactly? What distance can you travel on the EV? I’m sure it’s only for low speeds?
Yes it has an EV mode,Battery is for mainly lower speeds,Engine self charges the battery and then in lower speeds goes into EV mode,Great in built up travel.
@@MatthewFarmer-mo5hs thank you clearing that up 🙂
So does the electric part still kick in at motorway speeds or will it just be running off engine power at high speeds?
They say after 40 mph it doesn’t engage any longer. I often wonder when I put it in sport, if there’s a little assist.
Does it kick into EV mode when on the motorway or good speeds in general? I do 15000 a year and thinking of getting one
yes it helps the car maintain speed now and then when at cruising motorway speed, shutting off the engine and then turning it back on

@nintendokings What about the RC? I don't know anything Toyota sells that can replace that model. That was a big loss to Lexus in my opinion.
You didn’t mention the excellent automatic rear view camera on screen.

Sorry 60mpg on motorway at true 70mph is not possible. Only if you stick to 55mph and get overtaken by everything.
You still get a good 42 mpg without resorting to eco driving.
I tend to get about 60mpg in mine doing an average of 70 with some fast bits.
And if everything overtakes, so what ? Most people don’t do 200+ mile journeys in the UK on a daily basis so a drop in average speed by 15mph will make no real difference. People need to wake up to that fact.
