Hi, I am an investor from Japan. The world is paying close attention to QuantumScape’s developments. We expect QuantumScape to bring significant transformations to the EV market.
I don't deal with stocks and funds anymore, but I also think that you should keep the shares, if these new batteries work, the VW Group will need huge amounts of them. In 2023, VW sold 9,239,500 units (all types of vehicles)
Definitely buy an EV with QuantumScape batteries. The world is changing, practically every electronic need solid state batteries. EV, AI, robotics, power storage.... Unlimited potential.

Guys I’m an investor but I have a grave concern. QS and PowerCo had an original deal to build a plant (QS-1/2). This new agreement says the two parties will forego the plant and PowerCo will manufacture the batteries in its own plant - leaving QS to find the funds to build its own plant. This is not a tightening of relationship but a distancing of it. Siva Sivaram calls it capital light but the fact is all QS’s future clients have to have their own plants to buy QS batteries because QS cannot manufacture them. This is a grave concern. How is QS going to build its own factories without significant capital dilution or debt. Don’t get me wrong, as QSs largest shareholder, VW has incentive for QS to succeed, but they’re not gonna throw them a line, just take their battery instead. Feel my concern?
If you look at the picture taken with PowerCo & QS management together on the day of their announcement, you'll see that the only smiling faces belong to QS (more like the smile of a 2nd hand car salesman), and you can't help noticing the long face of Thomas Schmall (Chairman of Power Co) and Mona Lisa smile of Frank Blome (PowerCo CEO)
Good question. I intuitively (backed by some research) trust the company and their technological breakthroughs. So on the verge of the great breakthrough-commercializations-it is very odd for an insider to be selling a bunch of stock. But who knows, he’s an individual, maybe he shouldn’t have bought that yacht, or maybe he’s gotta pay his child’s Harvard tuition.
Ok, we're into one week after this announcement, and stock seems to be holding its gains better than previous announcements. But I think this will also fizzle out, as it doesn't entail further 'announcements' in short term - PowerCo would have nothing to add to this until they start shipping products - something that would take years, if it ever happens, of course. And we know that QS 'announcements' on their own don't matter much - just repetition of old stuff. QS needs to find other OEMs to license their IP - big or small- to keep their momentum - otherwise this would also backfire, as it would mean that nobody believes in them except for VW - which of course, the main investor in QS - although they needed to scrap plans for a JV. Time will tell - but time also always 'runs out'. The most impactful 'announcement' QS can make from now on would be progress report on Raptor & Cobra. They never have given any tangible information on these processes, why?
@@andresponce305 No, this company is done. They have lost all their credibility. No one cares about their A/B/C/X samples anymore. They had always been a one trick pony, and yet that trick does not work anymore as well. Even if they can scale manufacturing - which they can't - their cells with mediocre specs would lose to competition. This is why there's no OEM getting on board.
@@andresponce305 The B sample results made me an investor. Now, it's a matter of calibrating Cobra for high volume and quality control. The technology exists. All of the pieces of the puzzle are there. Just need to put everything together. I'm hoping for big news in the next 6 months.
On the face of it this is good news. At least 130M cash injection without dilution is something... But if you think more in depth; this seals the fate of QS as only being the owner of IP, instead of being on its way to a battery giant. This 'capital light' approach is a total different story than the original one, which was way more ambitious. So QS has basically chose to be the ARM of batteries instead of other semiconductor giants. One can also think: If you were going to license your IP, why haven't you done it in almost 4 years after you went public? You could have done this way earlier, right?
@@michaelcrawley9580 Apple still owns the products while they outsource manufacturing and makes huge profits, as does Nvidia, Qualcomm, etc. If QS business will be limited to licensing their IP, upside would be limited. I understand their decision, maybe it's the smartest one given the circumstances, but have they waited to see this moment too late? What have they waited for so long? They could have done it way earlier without losing credibility.

Great News for QS. This should be a game changer. QS can license its technology to other companies as well and collect royalty.
So happy to have hung on to this stock and bought more on the dip. LFG!!!

Not really. More like a few hours, even two days.
@@rocketeer6713 It is great. It will likely in the $10-$20 range next week.

There's still a long way to go, but all the board members are selling their shares.
The sale of shares by company board members increases negative thoughts about the company. Investors are worried.
Once this battery tech is implemented ill buy an EV
