[RARE] London Police Escorting a 'Cat A' Prison Convoy

- Here we can see a rare sight of a Met Police Category A (Highest Security Level) Prison Escort training. Normally, these convoys transport the highest risk individuals between police stations, prisons and courts.
The convoy is made up of 2 BMW 5 Series Saloon ARVs, a Range Rover Vouge ARV and a Mercedes Sprinter Armoured Cell Van, all part of the "Special Escort Group". The BMWs and Mercedes are solely for the role of prisoner escort.

Why are they waving at everyone like they're the queen? Surely it's not to be noticed. You'd think that's what the sirens and flashing lights are for.
Well there are plenty of drivers who don't seem to see emergency vehicles, so the high vis sleeves are an additional visibility feature.

This is the reality & not like in stupid cop shows where prison convoys stop at roadworks, lazy screenwriters. In Ireland they carry the most serious subversive prisoners in one of three identical Garda vans so it not know which one he is in, also a fully loaded army 4x4 front & rear between the traffic police, armed detectives & prison vans. Does the job.

@@LondonEmergency999 eh isn't the whole point of the escort so they don't escape or have someone else break them out. Would seem unmarked units would be better for the latter.
