Fiited one of these to my RA Rodeo today, it's a great little HU. Android auto really seems to make inbuilt GPS and DAB redundant IMO. The sound quality is a big improvement, even on stock speakers. Very impressed indeed.
Is android auto responsive? Do you have any glitches or random disconnections, does it work from the head unit to make calls? Im looking to get one just making sure it's good.
@@CoyotePower5.0 The unit is good. You'll likely have AA issues with any unit you go with, we are seeing Android Auto have issues across the board and its not because of the units. If you're using a Samsung it should be fine, except for the most recent update (customers are having issues). and if you're using a Chinese phone, good luck! When it works its great and the unit is awesome but i would be looking at the 5350 :)

Some things lag a little bit, honestly barely noticeable, but that seems to be a product of the head unit's processing power rather than Android Auto itself. Never had any random issues, it is a wired connection though, some newer HUs have wireless Android Auto which I can't speak for. Makes phone calls from the HU flawlessly, can even use voice controls if you have google assistant set up. Honestly, for me Android Auto is a game changer. You use google maps for nav, so you never have to worry about manufacturers updates on your HU maps. Control for music apps like Spotify is great, its just like using it on your phone, just can't search from the HU, probably intentional to limit driver distactions. You can still use other apps while connected, I've parked up and played Pokemon Go while streaming Spotify with no performance issues for example. I won't ever go back to a non Android Auto HU now. Hopefully this helps mate.

My touch screen is not nearly as sensitive as yours appears to be. For anyone curious, it's not glass but has a thick layer of plastic over the screen front that probably inhibits accurate sensitivity transmission. You can feel, see the plastic there is millimeters of travel from it to what I presume a backing glass layer behind. This is not like a smartphone screen where it's just glass. No, the plastic is not removable. Quite dissapointed Pioneer. Really took a step backwards here.
Hi there. I have the same model. Apple CarPlay does not work in wireless. iPhone connects wirelessly ( as Bluetooth) with the H/U as soon as ignited and starts playing airplay audios automatically but does not launch Apple CraPlay connection/menu. When the iPhone connects wired to the H/U, sometimes I get the Apple CayPlay menu but not all the time. Also, the H/U Firmware update function is inactive all the time, so cannot update firmware either. Why is that?,
This would be such a great machine if only it had a function that enabled the reverse camera screen to be locked on for reversing, just for doing small reverse increments instead of cutting out when I put the truck in first gear. I can engineer it with a simple toggle switch mounted to the dashboard and a diode in the cable from the reverse switch on the cog sack otherwise, it would have my reverse lights running all the time. But it would also involve pulling the dash all to bits again, a simple ‘lock screen in reverse’ function would be so much nicer… all depends on how pissed off I get with it I suppose?
I am having trouble connecting with Spotify on the app. it just keeps trying to connect with my Bluetooth, but it is connect with my phone & phone app. I also have a problem with my phone, people can hear me but I can't hear them or receive calls on the unit. I have a samsung s20+.
Roman Karabet Yes. You still need your phone gps as that’s what the app actually uses, your phone. The secondary GPS from the unit just helps with reception
Hi Just install a pioneer AVH-Z5250BT ,when I press the voice button it keeps coming up with microphone permission needed for voice commands I've been thru the permissions on the phone and still nothing any information would be much appreciated
That’s completely up to you :) glove box is standard spot but you can choose to do a flush mount somewhere, or run it somewhere else. Possibilities are endless

Enes D No problem. All units need the bypass as they all have the handbrake wire. Easiest way is just connect it directly to ground (black wire on harness). It’s a safety feature with all head units. Easy to bypass. Alpine has capacitive touch. Pioneer doesn’t. Not sure about clarion. We don’t sell clarion but I’ve only heard pretty average things about it. So I won’t pick that. Pioneer and alpine both great but I’m a big fan of capacitive touch screen. Spoke to Alpine of Aus and they haven’t even returned 1 of these units yet for faults, in the Melbourne / SA region which is amazing. So you have a really good quality product and you can add the power pack and have amazing sound. Win/win.

Great video mate, thanks for sharing. I run the AVH-ZL5150BT in my FJ and love it! Since the units seem similar(ish), I was wondering if you know if it can be set to power on only once the vehicle is running? The problem is, I usually turn the ignition on and leave it until all electronic diagnostics are completed before I turn the engine over. This causes the unit to power on, shut down and power on again every single time. This is quite annoying as I’ve got the screen position set at an angle. I know this can be controlled in some of the Kenwood units, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to set the delay on this.
Hi. I had a 5150 and there was an issue with it so it was replaced by Pioneer with this 5250 unit. Problem is I can't get Android Auto to activate on the unit itself. is there something special i need to do to get it going please?
Geoff Nightingale Nope it should work straight away. Have you downloaded the Android Auto App? Does the phone charge when it’s plugged in? Have you looked for software update on the phone. Vishan Nunkoo Hi mate! Yep all things should still work. Definitely volume and track up down. Phone buttons are sometimes in compatible, usually there is a way to get them to work though - if plug and play module doesn’t work, a hard wire module should. Just check to confirm when you buy the parts. Short answer is yes everything will be retained. 4 camera parking system cannot be retained (not here in Aus anyway)

I do have some issues however, perhaps you have some tips I can pass onto my installer/mechanic. The head unit loses its memory everytime I take out the key, it's not fun setting the clock and date everytime I get in the car!! Also when trying to watch a DVD a warning comes up "cannot watch video content while driving" however, I'm parked up, handbrake on and in neutral. Any help much appreciated!

I'm looking to upgrade my pioneer car stereo that I had installed in my 2007 Honda Accord in 2013: Pioneer AVIC-Z150BH 2013. The touch screen on mine has always been horrible and lags all the time and I have waited it out to upgrade until Apple CarPlay is a better experience and it seems like it has drastically improved with the new iOS 13! Also from what I'm seeing from your demo......I'm not seeing any lag anymore? Is this true? Are the pioneer stereo's like using an iPhone now? Thanks in advance for the info.
Hey mate thanks for the feedback! The best two wireless CarPlay units right now are Kenwood DDX9019DABS and the Pioneer AVH-Z9200DAB . Both units are PACKED with features. They’re both fantastic quality and they both have 0 lag and run extremely well. The Kenwood has a capacitive touch screen (similar to a mobile device) the pioneer STILL has a resistive screen which is a little annoying but nothing to make a big fuss about. These two units both offer wireless CarPlay as you requested. They’ll both work in your Honda Accord with no drama.

Chris Sorry mate I didn’t see this. We do not have access to that unit here in Aus, at least I’ve never seen it. If it has capacitive touch screen with similar features then I’d go with that. One other thing I’ve seen with this unit is it can be slow at times, they’ve jammed so many features into it without enough hardware inside to process it all.
Benchie Hern Video? That shouldn’t happen. You mean you can watch UA-cam through the screen with USB only? Try a new genuine Samsung cable. Also go through the audio settings on the phone. It will be one of these two things. If you can, also try another device just to confirm it’s not the unit 😊
I'm torn between getting the old pioneer avh-x8750bt or this one cuz I can get the x8750bt for 300usd and the 5250bt for 420usd. Both have carplay and android auto. Do you think the extra 120usd for the 5250bt is worth it if I really only want the carplay feature? And do their sound output the same or does the z series have better output? Hoping for a reply 🥺

D I S C O N N E C T E D Haha 😂. Ok for steering wheel controls you need to do exactly these steps: 1) press and hold the home button. Unit will turn off. 2) when it’s off, press only single press and it will then turn back on. 3) go directly to settings - nothing else. 4) steering wheel will be illuminated. IF NOT- then you need to ground the park brake wire.
@@TheFittingBay i tried it and i have an option to press the steering wheel settings but still buttons not working with adapter and the other option which is without adapter and still cant detect it or somethinf when pressinf buttons
D I S C O N N E C T E D Then problem is with the installation or the product. Try unplugging the module and plug back in (connects2 modules) sometimes just need to be reset

When I using map or youtube, it show me an ATTENTION! on screen, which shows "ATTENTION! Viewing of front seat video source while driving is strictly prohibited." and then I can hear UA-cam sound only. How to cross over it?
@@TheFittingBay When I prepare using Android Auto or WebLink, I connected by usb port. Android Auto will freeze on both sides (Pioneer show attention). WebLink will show App on Pioneer's screen, when I play Youytube, Pioneer play sound only.
Douglas Feng you need to do this : ua-cam.com/video/PAUm17NNXPM/v-deo.html - will only work if you’re in Australia. Other parts of the world you’ll need to put it on a switch. Android Auto freezing most likely the phone as they sometimes have issues with AA. Look for software update or google the symptoms

i have a pioneer avh-9250bt there is GPS antenna, what for? if there is no navigation!!!
Roman Karabet it helps with gps reception on CarPlay and android auto so you don’t just rely on the phone gps :)

Vishan Nunkoo Hi mate! Yep all things should still work. Definitely volume and track up down. Phone buttons are sometimes in compatible, usually there is a way to get them to work though - if plug and play module doesn’t work, a hard wire module should. Just check to confirm when you buy the parts.

Brian Batica Hi there! Yes that is true this unit does have dual phone connection. It works really well, you pair the first phone and it does phone calls plus audio and the second phone is phone calls only and they work together. It works well!

@thefittingbay - I bought one of these Pioneer units on the strength of this video! Thanks so much for the great content. I do have some issues however, perhaps you have some tips I can pass onto my installer/mechanic. The head unit loses its memory everytime I take out the key, it's not fun setting the clock and date everytime I get in the car!! Also when trying to watch a DVD a warning comes up "cannot watch video content while driving" however, I'm parked up, handbrake on and in neutral. Any help much appreciated!

Hey mate, I bought the wiring harnesses I needed and plugged it all in and it all works fine except when I turn the car off the unit stays on and I have to turn it off manually. Have you experienced this before?

I'm looking to upgrade my pioneer car stereo that I had installed in my 2007 Honda Accord in 2013: Pioneer AVIC-Z150BH 2013. The touch screen on mine has always been horrible and lags all the time and I have waited it out to upgrade until Apple CarPlay is a better experience and it seems like it has drastically improved with the new iOS 13! Also from what I'm seeing from your demo......I'm not seeing any lag anymore? Is this true? Are the pioneer stereo's like using an iPhone now? Thanks in advance for the info.
Hey mate thanks for the feedback! The best two wireless CarPlay units right now are Kenwood DDX9019DABS and the Pioneer AVH-Z9200DAB . Both units are PACKED with features. They’re both fantastic quality and they both have 0 lag and run extremely well.
The Kenwood has a capacitive touch screen (similar to a mobile device) the pioneer STILL has a resistive screen which is a little annoying but nothing to make a big fuss about.
These two units both offer wireless CarPlay as you requested. They’ll both work in your Honda Accord with no drama.

Chris Sorry mate I didn’t see this. We do not have access to that unit here in Aus, at least I’ve never seen it. If it has capacitive touch screen with similar features then I’d go with that. One other thing I’ve seen with this unit is it can be slow at times, they’ve jammed so many features into it without enough hardware inside to process it all.

Benchie Hern Video? That shouldn’t happen. You mean you can watch UA-cam through the screen with USB only? Try a new genuine Samsung cable. Also go through the audio settings on the phone. It will be one of these two things. If you can, also try another device just to confirm it’s not the unit 😊

I'm torn between getting the old pioneer avh-x8750bt or this one cuz I can get the x8750bt for 300usd and the 5250bt for 420usd. Both have carplay and android auto. D I S C O N N E C T E D Haha 😂. Ok for steering wheel controls you need to do exactly these steps: 1) press and hold the home button. Unit will turn off. 2) when it’s off, press only single press and it will then turn back on. 3) go directly to settings - nothing else. 4) steering wheel will be illuminated. IF NOT- then you need to ground the park brake wire.
@@TheFittingBay i tried it and i have an option to press the steering wheel settings but still buttons not working with adapter and the other option which is without adapter and still cant detect it or somethinf when pressinf buttons
D I S C O N N E C T E D Then problem is with the installation or the product. Try unplugging the module and plug back in (connects2 modules) sometimes just need to be reset

Android Auto will freeze on both sides (Pioneer show attention).
WebLink will show App on Pioneer's screen, when I play Youytube, Pioneer play sound only.
Douglas Feng you need to do this : ua-cam.com/video/PAUm17NNXPM/v-deo.html - will only work if you’re in Australia. Other parts of the world you’ll need to put it on a switch. Android Auto freezing most likely the phone as they sometimes have issues with AA. Look for software update or google the symptoms
