    DELPHINE DESCENDS
After her family is killed and her homeworld occupied, young Kathreen Martin is sent to the distant world of Furoris for re-education. She will live the rest of her life as a serf - to be bought and sold as a commodity of the Imperial Network.
When her only chance of escape is ruined, a chance mistaken identity offers her a new life as the orphaned daughter of a First-Citizen Senator and heiress to a vast fortune.
She vows to claw her way into power to sit among the worlds’ elite. Then, with her own hands, she will reap bloody vengeance on them all.
But to beat them, she must play their game. And she must play it better than them all.
    BLACK MILK
Prometheus has the chance to bring his wife back from the dead, but doing so will mean the destruction of Earth.
Spanning time, planets and dimensions, Black Milk draws to a climactic point in a post-apocalyptic future, where humanity, stranded with no planet to call home, fights to survive against a post-human digital entity that pursues them through the depths of space.
Five lives separated by aeons are inextricably linked by Prometheus’s actions:
Ystil.3 is an AI unit sent back in time from the distant future to investigate Prometheus’s discovery...
The mysterious Lydia has devoted her life to finding a planet that the last remaining humans can call home…
Tom Jones (he’s a HUGE fan!) is an AI trapped inside a digital subspace, lost and desperate to find his way back to his beloved in real-time…
Dr Norma Stanwyck is a neuroscientist from 24th Century Earth whose personal choices ripple throughout time...
Prometheus must learn the necessity of death or the entire universe will be swallowed by his grief.

This reminded me of Dougal Dixon's "Man After Man" and Olaf Stapledon's "Last and First Men". I think I need to take a look at this book.

This was a lot of fun! It reminded me of After Man a Zoology of the Future, which is on my shelf. It's actually serious because humans will evolve into weird types after leaving Earth. The Worms would fit in well in parts of Australia. I'm jealous of the Flyers. The Striders could definitely be in charge of a planet. I live in the Tropics, so parasites are common here, but this version, and their future evolution is rather ominous. The Colonials coud also be called the Pavers. They could cover a lot of ground.

Some of them truly are creepy...but I find a few of them adorable. That includes the Snake People, because IRL I actually think most reptiles and snakes are cute. Also, I think the Saurosapients descend eventually from the bearded dragon, which is one of the most socially engaged lizards I've ever encountered and always fun to interact with whenever I encounter them. It's sad what happened to the Lizard Herders, but a lot of the materials I've read shows that the Saurosapients understand that and return the care they were given in the past as a way to honor them. I think that respect wins some extra like from me.

Some of these remind me a lot of what the Vampyre created in Brian Lumley's Necroscope universe. In particular the Vampire World trilogy.

Interesting; I have yet to read this one.
If you find this sort of thing is interesting then Olaf Stapledon's "Last and First Men" could be a good read...

This is like a collection of drawings and explanations thereof done by a disturbed nine-year-old... no... a five-year-old.
"Mommy, mommy, look what I've drawn!"
    "Wonderful honey, what is that?"
"Well this one is an alien that eats poop, and this one is an alien that flies around on farts, and this one eats bugs, and this one is a fishie that will evolve to use advanced biotechnology for making iPhones out of other fishies. And they are all made of people."
"Wonderful honey, you will be a great artist one day. Now wash the poop off your hands, it's dinner time."
    "Awww... Do I HAVE TOOOO?!"

Or maybe speculative biology is simply not your thing. Kösemen's works are greatly appreciated by the interested and knowledgable communities of this very discipline.
