This map is very similar to E2M1 at the begining if you notice

Hey, I saw this on April Fools' eve some 8 years later. I purchased Final Doom when it was new and I was in high school. I was able to beat TNT a few times but I don't think I ever got past Well of Souls in Plutonia. I thought the game was too hard and I gave up on it quickly, without ever looking back. I feel dumb now. I really missed out. However, I started playing it again late last year, after completing the master levels (which I never even knew existed) and I love it! I just finished this level tonight so that's where I am at so far.
This WAD does have a TOTALLY different style/approach/feel compared to Doom and Doom 2. I don't think any levels in those games require the strategic planning that is required for Congo, the FIRST LEVEL. I saw someone on another channel describe many levels in Plutonia as "combat puzzles" which I agree with. Similar to Super Ghouls and Ghosts on SNES, which you could call a "platform puzzle", this game has to be approached the same way.
Another difference is that Plutonia has kind of a minimalist visual style. You can tell the designers are more focused on how a level functions, compared to how it feels. While that might seem sterile or bland at times (compared to John Romero's style), you quickly realize the placement of walls, ledges, stairs, posts, windows, EVERYTHING is done with a PURPOSE. That is really outstanding.

Everytime I see this map's name, I immediately think of the Nasty Metallic Enforcer enemy, from Rise of the Triad.
I love how the beginning of this map is inspired by E2M1.
NME (little trivia here) is also the real big bad behind all the monsters in the anime "Kirby: Right Back At Ya!" (the anime based on the Kirby games). And nice April Fool's opener here too.
I honestly believe from my current playthrough this is the map that's giving me the most trouble. Though Map 21 Slayer may become my most difficult map for me, through I am highly looking forward to that map. Yes I know Go 2 It is the hardest but I like to exclude that map because of it being a given.

Well... It’s obvious that this map was a throwback to E2M1 of Ultimate Doom/Doom, “Deimos Anomaly.” Certainly don’t see any April Fool there.

Short but brutal map
You recorded this on a Fool's Day and they paid you back by fooling you several times throughout the map LOOOL! Anyway, the beginning also reminded me of E2M1 layout, but this time I had plenty of ammo to fight the enemies compared to that... LOL again.
After playing this map, I found out that NME is the name of a metal music-oriented magazine. This kinda fits in with other musical tributes in this WAD, such as Genesis or Slayer.
Ha! You had me there for a second, you jerk. I admit that whole start was really funny and clever. I loved that. :D
Well, happy late April Fool's Day BMD. I'm getting way too far behind again, smh (shaking my head). I will call this video the BFG map, you use it quite a bit, and I love it. 69% health, that's always nice to hear. Archvile and Cyberdemon almost nailed you, but you pulled through as always. Way to go BMD, I will get on to map20.

i have never managed to complete plutonia 2 or plutonia revisited.. i hope so much that you will do a walktrough, at least for one of those. :p
that hard area with the arch vile, what I did was summon him up go back to the area where I teleported and stayed there, shooting rockets through the tight corridor, it was pretty easy to dodge because I just hided in the area where you teleport, and when I was safe I looked at the corridor and shot a lot of rockets.

Considering your absence and the recent video you made on coming back from your 11 month hiatus, I just assumed the beginning was a reference to that before looking at the date the video was posted, haha. Funny how things work out.
Love the April fools, although years later I figured out it was a joke rather quickly. Ok so for anyone playing this wad on the iPhone... that cyberdemon at the end, oh man! We don’t have the control ability to peekaboo shoot him like Big Mac Davis, because it’s crappy controls on the iPhone. I found if your facing the cyber demon go to your right along the wall and strafe back and to the left at a sharp angle, almost in the red lava and you can launch rockets. If you have the angle right he almost certainly can’t hit you with his rockets unless he is far left, otherwise they will just hit the wall. Try that, and good luck. There's something about this level that made it rememberable to me. Probably both that blood pit with the Archvile, and the well placed Cyberdemon.
