It's like the girl is starting to catch feeling for someone and she desires that person but it seems like she is avoiding falling in love. She desires that person but she won't let herself fall. I assume that it is because she doesn't want to feel hurt or feel the other downsides that comes with falling in love for someone and the reason behind that may be because she is scared of ending up with nothing but a broken heart. The shadow, I think, symbolizes the person who has captured her heart or love itself. Because love is like a shadow it follows you when you aren't looking for it. Also, Shadows are cast by what we cannot see. I mean sure, shadows are almost always there but even shadows leave when you're in darkness. And maybe also uncertainty. But as we all know, love is something strong, good, irresistible, desired by all. So with this, she finds herself in a dead end and falls in love -or infatuation? Love is like gravity. It makes you fall.

I was thinking of an abusive relationship. The shadow was the abuser and the girl was trying to get away from him, and in the end, stays with him. But your explanation is better than mine and it makes more sense.

I don't want to think about it, because if I'm having a bad day, I'm going to say depression, and if my day is good, I could say love. I don't wanna say anything.

I think it may be about an abusive relationship. He changes her(when he touched her face, may have been a metaphor), He chases her and persuades her to stay. He acts kindly but things go bad again. He flicked her off of the cliff to. Eventually, she decides to stay, and disappears(dies) because she stayed. Just my opinion,though

Isabella Foret it depends on how you interpret the "addiction" part. You could say she is addicted to love or a feeling she gets from certain people or a single person. I believe what you have said is true and that it is an abusive relationship. A relevant thing to know about love is that it releases or stops a certain chemical in your brain, sorry I can't remember what it's called, but it quite literally makes you "addicted" to said person. If you think about it, the purple on her face could also be metaphorical for a bruise or wounds inflicted by the purple man and we never actually see her reach out to anyone else which is a trait of an abuse victim, to feel like you cannot get away or tell anyone about it because it's "normal", so when she is engulfed by the purple smokey stuff it may be her giving in to the abuser or worse (( expelled! okay okay Harry Potter jokes aside )) death.
I thought it was about death and how she is scared of it in the beginning and it chases her and its coming closer each time. In the end she finally accepts it and it consumes her

I like how open-ended the story was, how it was set up and had such an ethereal theme about it, how smooth the animation was. I think the shadow that was dancing with the girl was either her loneliness, or some other person, entitiy, or thing that she desperately wanted to get away from, but she doesn't know how to be happy without. I can relate to being lonely, I only had one or two friends in junior high, and both lived far enough away it was nearly impossible to contact each other without our phones, which due to our very strict parents we did not use much. I wanted to make new friends, but all of the other people around my age at the school had already formed very tight groups of friends, and as I quickly discovered, none of which I was at all welcome in. I decided that if I couldn't have friends at school, then i would just try to be happy on my own, metaphorically "flying solo". my social life, even outside of school, diminished more and more the more I convinced myself that loneliness was the only way to get through school at least until I graduated. it was strange; I wanted friends, I wanted a social life, but loneliness told me that trying to be friendly towards people would only bring me more disappointment and would be worth nothing. since then, I graduated and now have a fair social life, albeit it could be improved upon, but loneliness still lingers like a scar, like a stain on my heart that will always be there, and will shrink as time goes on, but will never completely go away. then again, I guess most emotional wounds work like that.

i have friends. but, my problem is that i trust no one... at the same time im totally nice to everyone i know so i have 'friends' but i dont trust any of them. I have a true to heart friend but she's 2 hours away. we barely talk. yet, each time i see her (once a month) our bond and trust grow stronger.
all i really want is my true friend. and at the same time i push others away because they're not good enough, i make myself lonely . so, on a small scale, I'm lonly too just in a different way.😝

Surprisingly your story sounds a lot like mine. My family moves all the time and every school I go to already has groups of people that have known each other since kindergarten and they don't let anyone else in. My only friends who I have stuff in common with are so far away so I barely get to see them. We live in the middle of nowhere right now and no one lives near us that can be a friend
i actually seen this when i was still a kid, i think i was 7... it was at my grandma house ( now it got sold and my grandparents live with me), i was at her phone and saw this, it was so beautiful that i played it over and over and every day.. , i also tried to find it but forget the tittle, and now i'm 14, and it's on my recommendation.. yet i'm still think this is the most beautiful animation and music i ever seen..

No words, Its too beautiful, Its like a concept of a forbidden Love
Man. I first discovered this gem a couple of years ago, and I often find myself returning to it. This animated film has touched me since the moment I witnessed it, there's just something about the gentle piano with the fluid movements. Ah, the piano, that recepticle of emotion that grows into a passionate and intense embrace of the heart; it's almost as if it were alive. It's effects surely contribute- the music helps bring life to the meaningful story, it is the perfect music for a deceptively happy tale. The lovely art style works *so* well to depict such a mysterious story, a journey that takes us through a universe unbounded by the chains of physics or logics, but limited by our own insecurities and fallacies. Seriously, kudos to this beautifully and elegantly designed film. I wish more peoole recognized it, either way. I value this film and love it dearly.

I was a lot happier before UA-cam decided to put commercials for what you could watch after the current thing over the current thing, thereby distracting you from the impact of the final seconds. Gorgeous animation, thought-provoking storyline that could be taken almost any direction, solid 10/10

My thought is that the girl was trying to get over a breakup or death to her bf or husband. While she getting over it, she suddenly remembered him and try's to push it away but soon is falls to victim and either gets back with him or kills her self to be with him.

You see, the girl is addicted to it. She is trying to break the addiction, but she still uses the drug, and soon, she is at the cliff. She can't break the addicton, and finally she goes too far. She is addicted, and she doesn't stop, she wants it, she NEEDS it. When the thing disappears, and the girl is trying to look for it, she CRAVES it. When she stops using it, she feels unhappy (It's hard to break addictions, like smoking. If you smoke, and you stop, then your gonna have a headache. Because your brain says "I NEED IT!"). So the girl starts using it again, and soon, she is so drawn into it, in the end, her health is severe, and she slowley disappears (she died bacically.)

when i see this all i can see is my relationship with myself! Maybe that's where my mind is, it made me feel like the girl is running from her fears her insecurities and how they don't leave her, how they're inside her. Though the ending i can't explain, to me it seems like those bad things ate her up or maybe she finally knew how to live with them 😂 it's beautiful how art can make every individual see something different! loved every bit of this ❤
She is on the fence about knowing her shadow self.. she dances with it for a time, and pushes it away in fear.. eventually she learns that her shadow self is nothing to fear, but is a part of her that she must embrace and "dance" with in this life. In the end they are one in the same.. thus being able to move forward in life with out fear and depression constantly poking at her.

Theory (I mention a few touchy things. You've been warned.):
The smoke represents a man (named David, for simplicity's sake), possibly a boyfriend, whom had "fallen in love" with the girl (let's name her Anna, ditto), but was abusive. Anna came to realize that she really wasn't in love during this relationship and constantly tries to push him away, but is too scared to officially end the relationship. Unwilling to give up, David tried bribing her with a multitude of affectionate acts. Each time, she almost falls prey, but each time, she is able to resist. Finally, the man looses his temper and becomes aggressive, beating her into complete submission.
read the description. You can interpret anything because it doesn't have a clear statement in the video, but the description mentions it as being addiction and temptation.

Hello everyone, just wanted to help you out with the true meaning of this film. Check the description of the video. This film is about a woman who struggles with drug addiction. At the beginning, it is clear to see the woman is tired, struggling with withdrawal and the sadness it brings her. That is when the temptation of drugs appears to her. She tries to run from it, but the temptation follows her wherever she goes. In the end, remembering the moments of joy that the drugs brought her, the woman sadly gives in to addiction. Although this film is open to interpretation, for those who were interested in the actual story behind it, this is it. Thank you!

i wonder y her hands are pointy sometimes and then they turn normal?
I believe its to show when everything is zoomed in so you can see her hands but when is pans out they go pointy as if zooming out. I think it also has to do with taking a short cut on drawing hands and feet.

two, I was watching... then I hear my neighbors SCREAMING! It scared me with this peaceful music ;-;
I think this is a beautiful piece of art. When I watch it I begin to think about how hard it really is to withstand temptation. To me the name irresistible attraction and the content of the video seems more like a fight with yourself. I have read the comments about abusive boyfriend, and I do agree that it could be the case, but for me I think like this: The shadow is whats tempting you, it could be a guy or a girl that you like but you know you can't (the reasons can be many). So the shadow is just an illusion of what you want, while the woman (in this case) is your brain that keeps on telling you that you should not. You can say that it's you brain and your heart. I guess the reason of why I go for this and not abusive boyfriend is because she's very lonely, depressed and she keeps looking for him. She's not afraid of his touch. And in the end, when she gives in, she smiles. It's really hard to resist something or someone you really love or have a strong attraction to. In my eyes, the fall and push over the cliff is when she gives in. She can no longer ignore her heart and gets consumed by the shadow, but she's happy with it.

I love that this could be about so many things, depending on perspective. I saw depression at first, but I can see how other people could see love, or change.
This makes me think of Emily and the amulet! ( From the grafic novel Amulet.) Tryinto gain control of her mind and sometimes you feel comforted by it but then you realize its trying to distroy you... I love this!

At first it seemed like the purple ghost-thing was supposed to symbolize depression. The girl kept pushing it away, but it would always come back. It wanted to take over her life then take her life.
Everyone is to my opinion being so rude about this video. It is complete art, it's freaking beautiful, and heartbreaking to me. I love it
The scary thing is that when the smoke man appears in the end, her skin and hair glow up as if it made her happier. Great animation
Here is my analysis of a the story:
From the beginning, we can see her trying to grab onto this pinkish-purple glow. The glow could symbolize as love. But as the glow disappears, her surroundings start to turn grey. It's obvious that she longs for love but she feels like she doesn’t deserve it for some unknown reason, so she has to be alone. Then another person appears and the purple color of the character indicates that he has feelings for the girl. He tries to make her fall for him. When he touched her face, the purple start to spread throughout her face, symbolizing that she is starting to fall in love with him. She keeps trying to push him away but he is very willing to make her fall in love with him. The change of scenery, a forest, symbolizes that the girl can't escape love no matter how hard she tried. It's like a forest, the trees are all the same and every where you go it will be the same. It is hard to escape. The glow pushes her to the water. And as she sinks in, she realizes that she can't fight love. She learns to accept love instead of pushing it away. It's like gravity, it holds you down to the earth so you won't float away, or in the case of the video, it holds you close so you won't feel lost or alone. The water symbolizes calmness and serene. She felt peaceful after she realizes this. She goes back to her original surroundings. She tries to grab onto the glow but then she realizes that she might be too late. Her surroundings turn grey again until the man appears again. She falls in love with him and the man finally achieved his goal, and they lived happily ever after.
Seems familiar on Coldplay's Gravity and Ink

What I interpret is there is a girl who is in love with this other boy but she knows that it would be bad tone with him because he is a bad influence and will turn her bad. He keeps pestering her and she almost goes with him. At the end she finally succumbs to her feelings imagining that they will be together in harmony only to get swallowed up by his wrong doing.

As a person who has been diagnosed with depression, that's what I was thinking too. At first, depression is just a small thing, you don't realize your slipping into a "prison" you continue your life until it starts to drag you down and is wherever you are. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that's the meaning of the short.
In the description it says it's about temptation and addiction. she's resisting the entire time, but eventually she becomes entranced and her addiction consumes her.

I always thought that this was about some kind of addiction? Like maybe drugs or alcohol. The girl always seems happy at first when she sees the purple smoke but for example, when he holds her for a while and her face starts turning purple, that could be the initial 'high' wearing off into depression? I don't know though, it's just my opinion 😂

I think it's depicting an addictive relationship, judging by the title and the style of the piece. I had assumed it would be treated as a bad thing, but the short is kind of open ended about whether her giving in was a good thing, or if the addiction sort of enveloped her in the end.
I like the way it's done, but I think that it's easy to forget that relationships can be addictive, and that they as hard to quit as drugs and at least as destructive.
