Desperately needed more screening, especially against WE. I had a similar army build to this and went up against WE, with only 40 Guardsmen and 2 units of 3 Bullgryns - Got absolutely shredded as they obliterated my single line of screening and then promptly tagged and destroyed all 4 of my Russes by their T3. The Bullgryns lasted the longest, but only because I kept rolling 4s on their 4++. Seems like a really tough matchup for Guard; your positioning needs to be precise. Once you get tagged into combat, it's over. Maybe some Scions/Aquilons or putting a vehicle into reserves may have helped? WE, like most elite armies, struggle with screening.
seems the guard needed ratlings or ghosts to infiltrate and block movement a bit. Maybe a catachan chimera to scout and block would help too. Not that he has the models but replacing the Fobs and a techrpiest with a basi would help to slowdown the zerks a bit too. Otherwise an impressive and deadly guard list.
Or we can have a 6 foot by 18 foot table the long side deployment is rigged for assault armies 3 turns of shooting before they are in charge range would make this a very different game.
Yeah Gaunts and rattlings are next on my list. I've got two Basilisk but left them at home for this game. Only started playing guard this year so lots to learn. Slowing down the zerkers would have helped lots.
@@HereticDave40k That's awesome! But there is no way they are going to let those point cost stand, they will go up in the next Field Manual. Spectrus Kill Team costs the same as an infiltrator squad, but is 100x better, better guns, better unit rules. No way that stays the same.
Well, it's all I have, as I have Black Legion, not World Eaters, in my collection. It's a battle report, not a tournament game. But thanks for watching and for the comment.
Wow, what a great game! It was close to the very end! Was definitely rooting for the imperial guard as always, love your battle reports!
Glad you enjoyed!

Yeah screening is a thing 😅. I'll definitely need to re think the list when facing a army like WE.
I like bush near some wood too lmaoo
Got to love the dad jokes!
Go guard! I am hoping this is a good one.
Blood for the Blood God!
Cadia stands!
@@jorzolek01 No, no it doesn't, sorry
Unfortunately you’re probably right. What do you feel the guard player could have done better? It felt like his screening was a little lacking to me.
@@jorzolek01 yes, nothing in front of the tanks to block charges, that in combo with me getting some good charge rolls...

yes, needed something to act as a speed bump, thanks for watching

@alanrickett2537 aren't most deployments the same distance apart these days..?
An apocalypse size board would have helped though yes. Haha

Magic report 🤙
Thanks!

@SteveArnold43 o, don't know, infiltrators have a better ability deep strike denial is awesome
@@HereticDave40k I hope your right!! I'm all for leaving the points the same. I'm just not going to get to excited until I see the next Field Manual.
what a shame the surge rules changed to being unable to surge into engagement 😢 and only once per phase/turn
Yea, I think for Berzerkers nothing changed though, on their datasheet it always said once per phase, and it says they can surge into combat...
@ oh my mistake, they cannot surge WHILE in combat… i misread the rules… im gonna play berzerkers again HAHA
Awesome game gents.
Thanks!
This guy ALWAYS wins. 100% cheater
Haha, not always, I lose occasionally. Lost a couple of the more recent batreps actually
one of the worst world eaters lists I have ever seen
