Australian politics - in Australia we vote for a party not a person which is why we can have so many prime minister's in five years, the prim minister needs to act for the best interest of the people and if not can be sacked by his own party if he is not following party guidelines, we elect the party based on its policies. Voting in Australia is not compulsory but you do need to show up and get your name crossed of the Roll (register) after that you enter the voting booth vote for the party you want or drop in a blank form if you don't want to vote for anyone... up to you. Our system stops the bullshit the US is going through right now as our elections are clear and precise. One person one vote on one day. We also have an absentee vote if you cant attend on the day. you apply for the ballet form and it is sent out to you and your name is crossed off the roll. If your name is not crossed of the roll by the end of the day you haven't voted so you cop a fifty dollar fine.

@@KRW1612 and your point is? if your referring to the Cronulla riots in your comment. They are called "riots" for a reason. People don't just hang out and talk things over at a riot. There was destruction of property, people seriously injured in the streets. It was a shit show all the way up the NSW coast. I still remember beaches were closed the following weekend up to Newcastle and down to Wollongong as police stopped meet ups/people gathering as the text messages were intercepted for where to meet. FYI THINK/READ BEFORE YOU COMMENT!!!

Cronulla Riots were stirring for years/decades, then a bloke assults a surf life saver (the most aussie profession ever that saves locals lives), then he calls all his mates to come down with poles and bats to fight on, that riot? I can see why it got out of hand, thankfully then everyone got together thereafter and they started breaking down the racial divide. It's obviously still there, sure, but not to the level it was brewing back then. Even my friend a few months earlier was set upon by a group of middle eastern men while he was walking home, they jumped out and bashed him and said it was because he was white and a lot of my female friends were called aussie sluts, and white trash etc when they were at the beach. It was a really troubling time back then. Thankfully not so much any more because those riots opened up much needed discussions, now I don't see any of that any more. So honestly, that riot was probably needed to get the attention it absolutely needed.

I think Isaac was taking the p**s when he was talking about Celebrities but I understand his point. In Australia and New Zealand we have what is known as the "tall poppy syndrome". It's very similar to the Japanese who say "the nail that sticks out, gets hammered down".
In Australia we respect modesty and egalitarianism. Any Australian who is obviously successful or famous will fall into two camps. Either they promote their success and celebrity status by big noting, or they will self deprecate and remain modest bringing themselves down to a level equal to everyone else (avoiding being the tall poppy or the nail sticking out).
There have been too many Australian celebrities that become too big for their boots, tend to fall on their sword and by not following the rule of self deprecation and modest, they become hated in Australia. Many of these, leave our shores.
That said, those who do follow the rules will be loved even more in Australia. Many of these are celebrities have seen the mistakes of celebrities of the past, and know never to go that route.
It's why celebrities like Hugh Jackman and the Hemsworth brothers are modest, self deprecating. We'd like to think this is just part of the Australian psyche, but it's not always true.
The Hemsworths will be loved as long as remain modest and down to earth. The second they step outside this, they'll get the boot (just like Bart in The Simpsons S06E16).

Definitely agree. Australia is beautiful but America is just as beautiful and has a huge variety of climates like Australia. The beaches here probably beat ours but our mountains are much better... and we don't have dry lands/desert taking up 90% of the country haha

Kai may I don’t think that the criteria was to have it “in a smaller area” & I think some cities can be picturesque although a lot can ruin it (as can other things as well)

Tristan Kuhn we do have Hawaii, California, Florida, Cape Cod, the Outer Banks, the Hamptons & Fire Island and a lot of others for beaches - which I assume that you haven’t been to all of them to compare (not that I have either).

Yeah we don't really care about our politicians, he's right. Pretty sad really, but true. We don't have riots, rather we'll protest and usually doesn't get violent. The press very much exaggerate what they report. Agree with you about what he said about actors. He tends to go overboard sometimes. Tristan, you look happy, take care mate.

@6:50 Sweetheart, being an actor or playing an instrument is different from being a celebrity, these are two separate things. You can act and play a character your whole life, make amazing TV shows but never be a celebrity, you can have no talent a become a celebrity. Movies and Celebrity culture are two different things. Learn the difference.

Your theories about how the average Australian feels about our politics is actually really wrong......we are far less polarized regarding politics and tend to keep our feelings more private, however, the change in leaders is a good indication that not only do Australians care but our politicians know full well that they are going to lose the next election if they dont fix what the general public, the people they work for, disagree with pretty quickly. It is not a huge negative that we changed Prime Ministers so many times, it is a benefit. If they arent doing a good job running the nation they tend to get booted.....as Scotty from marketing is going to discover in the next election........we do not maintain the status quo and keep defending shit performances.

Can you imagine someone driving down the road with ON, UP, LIB, Labor, greens... flags from their ute? Would be the easiest way to spot the wanker on the road, even before they forget to use their indicator or give a friendly wave for whatever you did nice to them.
