Thank you so much! I got this recently as a gift for Christmas and I want to use it while at work but the vibration would be too noticable. Very helpful and easy to follow video thanks!
Thanks for the video. I just cut the wire for the speaker. Even with the setting to silent it somehow made noises from time to time, it started singing two times while in a clients office in the past
the fact this even needs to be done just screams incompetence on the part of niantic lmao how hard is it to just integrate a feature to turn off vibration for a device i'm just going to stow in my bag
Was forced to buy a new one because my gotcha crabbed out. Thank you so much for making this as I knew you could do it but I don't like to go blind into doing these things. No more annoying vibrate no more worrying about pikachu randomly singing in my pocket.
I bought this because I thought it could catch pokemon and spin stops at the same time but it can’t. It also “falls asleep” like my gotcha evolve as it takes a while to detect pokestops again after I exit a pokemon encounter.
Great video! Appreciate the in-depth info about not needing to unscrew the battery unless unsoldering. My handy-man husband was all too ready to dive into this thing as revenge for the early morning wake-up call.
This comment is pretty late but power LED isn't working idk if its still charging or not (didnt cut battery wires only the red vibration wire next to the black one)
i think you have to open it again and make its still connected doing what i did in the video would not stop the charge LED working mine still works fine
The first guide that came up in search and the one that answered my question. Luckily I already had the tools from some smartphone surgery a couples years ago lol.
I figured from another post that you can REMOVE the weight from the motor instead. That way you can still put it back in case you want it in the future (or if you plan to resell it when the new Plus Plus+++ comes out in future🤣)
I just got mine wet and it seems to not turn on and I was wondering if you got any tips or anything because I have zero idea what to do and i spent 60 $ on this 😭😭
got it like a week ago thought it would be fine with the vibration turns out not... thanks for the tutorial you saved me from dying of stress kept the sound for pikachu singing me to sleep lol
The lights are under the front cover I didn't stop mine lighting up so dint look into to much but from memory it's on a ribbon cables between the front and back cover
if you have ripped the ribbon you need a new one other wise you need to unscrew the white led board and then re attach the ribbon cable under that or same on the other end i haven't had mine out so hopefully its a connecter and not soldered
Thanks for the video, do you think there is a way to connect the main button to the vibrator or the led to make it auto catch with great and ultra balls?
That’s a software feature. That’s why they made it to you can only control that in the app. Maybe a hacker could prove me wrong but I’m pretty sure it can’t be done by rewiring like you could in the go plus model.
from what i have heard holing the button down like the old Ballplus doesn't work on this device so wiring to think its always pressed wont work if its even possible, so like @rafsoto24 said it will be software based it would likley need the chip modding or something like that which is way out of my league unfortuatly
I opened up mine to see if i could clean it because the main white button stopped working due to a drink spilling on it briefly and leaving some residue. looked up this video cause the vibration was also driving me nuts so i figured i might as well try and get rid of it while i’ve opened it up anyway. have you got any idea if i can safely unscrew the button side of the inside (so the white part) just to clean it out then close it back up again? it isn’t working currently anyway so if i break it then at least i tried to fix it lol. any advice would be appreciated 🥲
I'd say it fine to unscrew just be careful there may be little ribbon cables connecting the led lights and button. So I'm sure it will be fine if u just take your time
I think so, but then there’s no way to know what it’s doing, which is fine I guess. I heard some people say they covered a couple of them somehow just to dim it. I’m not sure how
@@KarlFixes I got a PH00 screwdriver and it doesnt fit, so it has to be PH000 or PH0000. Im going out to get a set that has the PH000 now really hope that does the trick lol.
Which ones do I cut to get rid of the sound and vibration? I thought you said don’t cut red and black or red and white but then I heard you say cut red and black so I just wanna make sure
There is a silent mode hold the top button and long press the center button will mute the device so you don't have to cut the speaker wire it will still vibrate unfortunately
Thank you so much! I got this recently as a gift for Christmas and I want to use it while at work but the vibration would be too noticable.

Thank you for making this video! The vibration was driving me crazy lol
Glad it helped!
Thanks for the video. I just cut the wire for the speaker. Even with the setting to silent it somehow made noises from time to time, it started singing two times while in a clients office in the past
I ended up cutting one wire and capping them off, I got a sharpie and painted the rubber part where the led sit to dim the light.
sharpie is a good idea the light is super bright but its handy to still have i might do that
the fact this even needs to be done just screams incompetence on the part of niantic lmao

Karl, a pro: You use your pry tools to get inn there
Me, a plebian: Fingies are pry tools, yes yes

Greatest video out there. Worked perfectly fine! I can finally enjoy the device properly.
This was SOOOO helpful. Straight to the point with no BS. Thank you so much!
Thank you!!! Bought an ifixit kit some time ago that now came to good use. My first project and it worked well thanks to you!
He muted Pikachu!

Is it likely that they will update the software to be able to turn off vibration in the settings in the future? or is this the only way?
I'd say it's unlikely to be honest I'll end up cutting mine off eventually
8 months still no update, cut mine today

Cut the vibration wire now the whole thing is dead. Press the button and nothing happens, no lights or sounds
I think i remember reading that you can just turn off the Pikachu voice in the settings. Or do you actually have to cut the cables for that as well?
I think u can turn it off it's is really annoying
Anyone wondering the screwdriver i used ph000. i think screw is j00
I just got mine wet and it seems to not turn on and I was wondering if you got any tips or anything because I have zero idea what to do and i spent 60 $ on this 😭😭
No idea is it charged. I'd return it if you think it's faulty
you can turn off the pikachu voice in the Settings from Pokemon go. no need to destroy it.
Thank you for explaining that it was soldered on. Other videos didn’t even mention that.
No problem 👍
got it like a week ago thought it would be fine with the vibration turns out not... thanks for the tutorial you saved me from dying of stress kept the sound for pikachu singing me to sleep lol
Does this increase the battery life of ot
i think it would if you disconnect the vibration i don't think the sound will make much difference to the battery
Did you ever figure out how to tuen off the light?? I dont know which cable to cut
The lights are under the front cover I didn't stop mine lighting up so dint look into to much but from memory it's on a ribbon cables between the front and back cover

Great video! I'm going to try it out for myself. Just to let you know, though, the sound can be disabled via the app
it can but only the catch sounds i think the sleep sounds are still active which is also very annoying
You can switch off the vibration via app?
@@thanoj10Not for the plus plus
C'est radicale 😂
Thank you sir very much 😂
To disable the vibration do I have to cut both red and black wires or can I cut only one (red or black)?
you can just cut 1 of them it will do the same either colour
I cut both the black and red wires what did this do to the plus
Wouldn’t just cutting one of the wires have the same effect?
it probably would yes but if you cutting them you may as well cut both so your not going to get any potential issues having some thing half connected
@@KarlFixes thank you for the reply. I wasn’t being facetious, I’m almost completely electronically ignorant. Thank you for clarifying. 👍🏻
What is the screwdriver size?
i dont know exactly but it very small cross head like tiny
Sadly the brown ribble cable come loose and it dosent blink anymore, does anyone know how to attach it again?
Does disconnecting the vibration motor and speaker improve battery life?
In theory it should yes
I think a spring fell out from my power button and now it no longer clicks the top. Any chance someone knows how to put it back together?
I wonder if it’s possible to solder on a button to toggle the motor on and off. I really don’t want to remove the function completely.
If you cut the black and red wire will the plus plus go quite
What screwdriver/size did you use?
its jus a very small phillips cross head screwdriver

What is the size for the screwdriver head?
i don't know for sure but its tiny Phillips head screw,
@@KarlFixes I got a PH00 screwdriver and it doesnt fit, so it has to be PH000 or PH0000. Im going out to get a set that has the PH000 now really hope that does the trick lol.
I used a 1/16 inch precision screwdriver Phillips, or at least whats what the box said when i bought it.
Which ones do I cut to get rid of the sound and vibration? I thought you said don’t cut red and black or red and white but then I heard you say cut red and black so I just wanna make sure
cut the red and black thats the vibration, red and white is the battery so DO NOT cut that for sound its the blue and white you need to cut
