Honestly as a CFC fan Berbatov is one of my favourite all time EPL players especially when he was at Spurs.
Berbatov, Endo and Balotelli all got the same technique. It looks lazy but actually a great technique that requires quite a practice. The hesitate before you shoot the ball is all about timing and foot placing. Very nice technique. (Although Balotelli's technique got exposed by Reina before)

basically, the technique is to wait and see the GK's movement before kicking the ball into the opposite direction at the very last moment. Risky, but it'll be 99% goal, so you have to keep your cool :)

He has such a good IQ in penalties. I think his only miss in his entire professional career of playing soccer was against Everton in FA cup. Otherwise he always scored. But of course biased journalists, "fans" and staff turn on him just because of this. Tim Howard is the only GK who read him and he is a a very good and talented goalkeeper and Ben Foster couldn't save a penalty if his life depended on it he was that poor of a goalkeeper. Easily the worst since Roy Carroll at Man Utd. Kuszczak should have gotten more chances at the club because his reflexes were amazing and he was usually very solid in the goal.
