Instead of saying he is using his time management skills, just say he is working. He is paying attention to details. He is going above and beyond by doing this. We take pride in doing this or that. Thank you
I do this for a profession and seeing how he was using that scraper to cut the urethane made me gasp!. The technician made more damage than the primer will fix, ultimately the scratches that he made will rust and spread out underneath the urethane bead resulting in a leaking or even worse a loose windshield. BTB has a special tool for these kinds of trimming with bent up ends that don't mess up the bodywork.
Great job Brandon 👏 I comend you in your excellent work. My father own a glass business in newyorki n the 70s threw the 80s newyork auto glass, I miss installing glass I was taught by my father when I was brandons age, it is a amazing skill and career, 👍👍👍
I don’t like how proffesional they try to appear for the customers/higher ups. Once you know how to do something there are safe ways to do the job easier. Kind of sucks that they have to do extra just for show, wastes everyone’s time including management and customers
leaving the window open is to reduce the pressure it creates when closing the door. This is to avoid pushing the windsheild out while the urethane has not cured properly. If all windows are closed and you try to slam a door shut pressure builds up inside the car and air finds a way out, it may poke a hole into the soft urethane and will cause leaks.
I was working on a windshield when a gentleman came running out of the house after having an argument with his wife. Him: "IS THIS THING DONE YET???" Me: "Yeah". Him: "GOOD". He got in and slammed the door. BOOM. The fuckin windshield poped right out and shattered. He blamed ME for it and said he was gonna kill me. I posted a video but youtube took it down because copyrighted music could be heard playing faintly in the background. (Makes sense /s). He had to go to a job interview and drove away with no windshield. lol.
NEVER EVER EVER EVER WIPE THE DASH WITH THE SAME TOWEL YOU'RE CLEANING THE PINCH WELD AND CONTAMINANTS FROM THE EXISTING URETHANE at the same time! Reason behind it, most dashes are wiped periodically with a protectant that is SILICONE based. You're taking a chance transferring it to the existing urethane compromising bond.
Sorry to be so offtopic but does anyone know a method to get back into an instagram account..? I somehow lost my login password. I love any tips you can offer me.
@Jalen Jordan i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I don't know anything about this type of work but since the manager had mentioned that the windshield had been changed before, the damage might have occurred then. Plus the damage is a slice separation which I don't think would have been done by a wire. Chill people!
If they switch over to the BTB Tools scraper they can save a bunch on having to take the time to repair the scratches made when trimming down the urethane. The BTB has "shoulders" that prevent sidewall scratches. Save on labor and consumables.
I just had mine done and I swear that my rearview mirror was never on the windshield before and now it is. Like I swear it was above the windshield before. I even tried looking up pictures of my cars interior and it looked like some were and some weren't. I don't care I just really want to know if I was right or not lol
jason4275 i am late but if you have a window problem it should be an electrical problem , regulator or motor or switch but the panel has to be open to make sure
For completely inexperienced folks who know absolutely nothing about automobile repairs this is a decent video showing what's required installing windshields in newer vehicles. Safelite is a big company more about presentation and claiming to be ultra professional but they're only as good as their installers. Sure they train in house to avoid hiring experience installers who demand more than minimum wages. If you consider using Safelite ask what they do if even the smallest bit of surface is found---they might tell you they'd leave your vehicle without a windshield and only return when you've had a body shop repair the rust. No charge of course but you're still without a driveable car. Plus their own brand of glass is the most ill fitting product on the market---more savings for them.
They told me I needed to go to a body shop before they’d do mine went to 2 other glass shops and they laughed about it and said they see it all the time and just takes a little extra time for them and safelite just doesn’t want to take the extra steps
@@grantwilliams5685 wrong we at Safelite want the pinchweld professionally fixed by a body shop. Safelite is all about doing everything the safe way non like other auto glass companies that will half ass fix a rust problem and throw a windshield on top. Very dangerous.
Theres procedures when rust is found. When there are holes then thats a whole other situation that will need a body shop. You never know whats under that windshield and who did it previously. 16yrs in the biz and i live in the Northeast so yea ive seen it all.
It would have been nice to explain how windshields are even attached to the car. And then explain how you need to cut through the urethane which is the 'glue' that is used to hold the glass in place. Then you could explain how the 'wire' will run between the glass and the urethane to separate the two to be able to remove the windshield. Now that's what is necessary to a complete video. :)
Only one thing I would do differently, raise the wipers up; so that when you lift them, you are not fighting against the springs. At least that is how I have always changed out my own wiper arms, after making the mistake of not doing so the 1st couple of times I had to uninstall and reinstall them.

This is not how Safelite does installs. If this was the techs assessment he'd fail. I'm surprised Safelite didn't make you take this down.
I will consider doing so. They are a good company. This installer was new I believe and it appears from all the comments there are issues. Thanks for commenting. We appreciate the feedback.
Safelite mobile service installed a new windshield on my 2010 accord coupe yesterday. Now I have a gap all around the new windshield, along with it being installed off center. I can now see the innards of the windshield pilars, the glass isn’t pressed against the cowl.....
is disconnecting the battery part of the Safelite process when electric rear-view mirrors are involved? I just got my windshield replaced by Safelite and now my electrical system keeps shutting down and restarting on and off. Now my usb connection to my phone has trouble connecting and my heater turns on and off along with the sound system. This all starting happening on my way home from Safelite after the windshield of my 2011 Infiniti FX35 was replaced. I popped the hood when I got home and noticed that the battery terminal wasn't very tight and also noticed that the tech didn't even put most plastic snap-in screws back in that keep the cowling cover in place. I called to bring my car back in for them to check the electrical problem and they made me set an appointment a week from now. What a horrible experience!
Please remind the tech that company policy is to have your shirt tucked in. Also, wiping the dash and then wiping the pinchweld can introduce contaminants to the area.
