You realize that Japan has just as much crime as anywhere else, yes? What are you going to do with a phone that is tagged with a number that's linked to a phone plan with someone elses name on it that also has a serial number and can be tracked? It's worthless to pawn or sell, especially if it's an iPhone with iCloud lock on it. Taking money is ideal because it cannot be traced. You better believe that you'd get robbed in Japan just as easy as you would get robbed in Eastern Europe.

That happened to me once. I had just turned ten and I had gotten a whole bunch of birthday money, about 50 dollars (which is more than I had ever even seen in my whole life at that time). I decided I wanted to get new clothing at the mall, you know cool stuff that wasn't hand-me-down. I accidentally left my little purse under a bench in a changing room. A staff member eventually found it in the same place I had left it, that is however after someone else had found it. Someone found my little purse, gone through it, and took the birthday money from my wallet... It's been many years since then and it still makes me feel dead inside.
When I was 9 I saved 12 dollars and hid it so I can keep saving, yeahhhhh my mom left with the 12 dollars and pretty sure I cried cause my 12 dollars were gone 🙃

I got the vibe that she was trying to cheer Yuuko up and try to enjoy themselves while they're there instead of continuing to be sad. I'd definitely feel bad if I lost my friend's money and definitely will pay them back seeing how I'm at fault.

I remember temporarily losing my wallet at a restaurant. Had to tell my parents that day that I didn't know where my wallet was and we had to drive back to the restaurant. Thought my parents were going to kill me. Luckily, a nice waitress found it and had kept it up front near the cash register to make sure no one would come by and get it. She handed it over to me and sure enough everything was in it. My ID, money, etc. Thank God for that nice waitress cause holy shit. I thought my parents were going to skin me alive if anything bad had happened.
sucks, doesn't it? i lost mine some good 10 years ago with a couple hundred bucks in it in front of the bank. i don't remember how, but i found out who had it and went to their house to pick it up. They said that it was empty when they found it. i offered a $50 bounty for "returning my wallet" and the look on their faces told me the whole story. they had fucking stolen my money, and were now feeling hella guilty for stealing it (because i showed up in a shitty run-down work pickup truck and beat up clothes that i use for work on the farm on purpose), and couldn't even bring themselves to accept my bounty with a straight face, they nervously sorta-kinda-refused (you know). i forced it on them anyways (my documents and credit cards were all there, so that's a cheap price to pay compared to the hassle it would have otherwise been), took what was mine and went on my way. They were poor, i'm not, but i sure hope that little incident still haunts their conscience. Being poor is no excuse for being dishonest.

I kind of wish she'd at least feel a bit bad for loosing her friends wallet for more than 20 seconds. I got the vibe that she was trying to cheer Yuuko up and try to enjoy themselves while they're there instead of continuing to be sad. I'd definitely feel bad if I lost my friend's money and definitely will pay them back seeing how I'm at fault.
That song works so well with this scene, and that face! That face is the face of someone who just had their hopes and dreams crushed, realizing how little their spot in this world is. I remember temporarily losing my wallet at a restaurant. Had to tell my parents that day that I didn't know where my wallet was and we had to drive back to the restaurant. Thought my parents were going to kill me. Luckily, a nice waitress found it and had kept it up front near the cash register to make sure no one would come by and get it. She handed it over to me and sure enough everything was in it. My ID, money, etc. Thank God for that nice waitress cause holy shit. I thought my parents were going to skin me alive if anything bad had happened.

sucks, doesn't it? i lost mine some good 10 years ago with a couple hundred bucks in it in front of the bank. i don't remember how, but i found out who had it and went to their house to pick it up.
They said that it was empty when they found it. i offered a $50 bounty for "returning my wallet" and the look on their faces told me the whole story. they had fucking stolen my money, and were now feeling hella guilty for stealing it (because i showed up in a shitty run-down work pickup truck and beat up clothes that i use for work on the farm on purpose), and couldn't even bring themselves to accept my bounty with a straight face, they nervously sorta-kinda-refused (you know). i forced it on them anyways (my documents and credit cards were all there, so that's a cheap price to pay compared to the hassle it would have otherwise been), took what was mine and went on my way. They were poor, i'm not, but i sure hope that little incident still haunts their conscience. Being poor is no excuse for being dishonest.
