@@student99bgPeople dislike Duke in general, and they tend to always have a “prep school” white guy playing for them that riles up the other teams.
From everything I’ve heard about JJ he actually wasn’t that and was borrowing his sisters sneakers to play ball in HS, but he got lumped in with the Bobby Hurley’s and Christian Laettner’s.
It also doesn’t help that he was a fantastic player and is still the all-time leading scorer for Duke.

The thing that’s better about these podcasts rather than big shows like first take , it’s much more calm , not so focused on analytics, and the narratives aren’t biased . Players speak in jest and express their opinions without being hit with analytics

I went to a Duke camp around 2005 and the team was scrimmaging the old Duke players. JJ and this old red headed guy were GOING AT IT. Wish I could figure out who that was. He semi held his own but this was prime JJ. It was kindv funny though when JJ missed a ft when he was known for not missing ft’s and some if the little kids started crying while watching when the older kids started making fun of him
