I have this pair of shoes since 6 months, I have around 750 km with them, I use them for everything from speed workouts to long run. They are very versatile and offer a stability, which is nonnegotiable. I truly recommend them even if the price tag is very high
I’ve been looking for a channel who reviews on less subjective terms for SUCH a long time. This is going to be the best running shoe channel out here! Keep them comming
i have the SuperBlast for almost 500k now, absolutely the best shoe I ever run in, high mileage, great cushioning and bounce. The price tag can be high at first but definitely worth every penny!
I'm using runrepeat since years for in depth research about shoes, even on work. I'm soooo happy that finally the video are exactly on the same point... instant sub, thank you!
I love my Superblast for all types of training. For easy runs, tempo runs, and speed training. It felt better than my Novablast 3, especially when you needed an extra push on your tempo runs.
Stumbled on this channel as a beginner runner. Watching the reviews kept me going to run. Looks like i will be hunting Superblast 2 (since its out at this current timeline). Currently using Nimbus 26 against the best opinion of getting Novablast 4. 😂 Keep up the great in-depth reviews. Love them to bits!❤
Took up running a year ago and I’ve been following all the big channels covering shoes. Yours just popped up and this is great content. As good or better than anything else out there. Where have you guys been? In any case, you have a new subscriber
Wow, thank you so much for the compliment. Creating a video like this requires a lot of work, and until now, we've been focused on our testing on our website. More to come on here though :)
I ran my first half marathon in a pair of superblasts. Amazing! The only issue I had was a broken toenail but it was nostly caused by the socks. I have novablasts also but the upgrade is totally worth it.
Great review, I just found your channel👍 This explains nicely why there isn't a carbon plate, which most reviews mention. Now I should only decide between superblast and Novablast 3 😂
Guys and gals from RunRepeat are arguably bringing the most value to the running community! In my opinion of course. Who else is actually cutting shoes in half? Because of them I understood why my Nike Invincible are thrashing my knees, the actual drop of the shoe is 12mm, and not 9mm as claimed by Nike and repeated by numerous shoe reviewers. Long live RunRepeat!
Superblast is by far my favorite shoe ever. A lot of shoes has problem with foam “dying” after 200-300km, but FF Turbo just gets better and better. Also the upper and outsole has amazing durability. 500km in mine now and they look like new. 1000km will be no issue whatsoever. A comment on the video, you talk about the lack of breathability as a bad thing, for us living in Sweden it’s one of the best things and I hope they do not “fix” this for version 2 😅
I have been running in vibram five fivefingers for the past 12 years - bikila ls, bikila evo, v-runs, v trails. Each pair lasting well over 1000km. I can't go back to regular running shoes 😊 no more ankle, knee or hip pain since going barefoot style.
Superblast is a far superior shoe than the NB 3, no comparison. Its a joy to run in and after 200 miles, my pair still looks and performs as new. I just bought a second pair to use during my marathon block. Appreciate all the testing but the Superblast will probably be rated as one of the best shoe in 2023. Science testing may not like it very much but runners absolutely LOVE it!
how is the wear on the toe of this shoe? I often have issue where this part of my shoe wears down (even though I cut my toenails as much as possible 😂). I wanna buy it but I'm concerned this video says it basically sucks
100. I retired about 5 pairs of shoes after I started running in the Superblast. I still pull out the NB SC Trainer once in a while but nothing compares to the Superblast.
Great video, one suggestion, I think in the histogram sometimes lower is better, while in others higher is better, might be nice to annotate which direction is better in each of the graphs, for the viewers to quickly realize if the shoe is on the "right" side of the distribution. Thanks.
The challenge here is that we don't think that lower or higher is better. Which is better, a high or a low stack? It depends. Soft or firm? Depends on your needs and likes
Great Breakdown, But do you think it is too Pricey for a Daily Trainer 😂 Some points from my usage: I am a true men’s US size 9 including my ASICS Nimbus and Cumulus but had to size down in the Superblast and even then the 8.5 has plenty of room in the toe. The increase width in the forefoot causes me to clip the left inner side of the FF Blast trim on the right upper causing wear so I really need to run with good form to avoid this. Breath ability, your test shows exactly what I experienced on a cold windy Half this past weekend, the toe section allowed excellent airflow but the rest of the upper has none. The outsole is a stone magnet but they are very easy to remove after my run with my fingers or needle nose pliers if needed. Once they break-in the ride is very smooth and comfy but out of the box a little firm.
The superblast to me is the current #1 super trainer. The first two versions of the nike invincible run and the saucony triumph 20-21 are the only shoes to compare with these. Not many other shoes can give you that “pep in your step” feeling without having a plate or by sacrificing stability or durability to achieve a funky looking design.
Triumph 20’s are the best “bang for your buck” shoes on the market right now. You won’t be disappointed in those shoes. The fit is very accommodating but for some people I guess the midsole may feel a bit too soft (i’m 80kg or 175lb). The Superblasts while being great, I can find some flaws that might not cater to everyone’s feet and running style (not great rocker, little tight in the midfoot). The invincibles have became overworked in design and I honestly think the version 1 or 2 are much better than the current version. If stability is important 1-superblast 2-triumph 3- invincible If softness is important 1- triumph 2- invincible 3- superblast (most firm of the three) If speed is important 1- Superblast 2- Triumph 3- Invincible If rocker is important 1- Invincible 2- Triumph 3- Superblast Hope this can help!
@wyattgalinski how is the wear on the toe of this shoe? I often have issue where this part of my shoe wears down (even though I cut my toenails as much as possible 😂). I wanna buy it but I'm concerned this video says it basically sucks
@@santiagomartinez4363 Are you talking about the outsole or upper material? The upper is somewhat of a weak point, quite thin compared to most other running shoes so I imagine it wouldn’t hold well over the 400 mile mark if your foot is fighting against it. The shoe is quite narrow overall as well, but I wear a wide in Hoka models so take that with a grain of salt. The outsole could use a little more rubber but I cant complain, it has enough of it where it needs it. I dont have many issues besides shuffling after long distance weeks which wears hard on my heels and I still bet to get about 400-500 miles in my superblasts. Hope that gives you a better idea
Been running in this shoe for the past 6 months. It is my favourite shoe ever. I’ve never had any issue with breathability. I doubt any running shoe material is going to do well in the Dremel test 😂
Check our other tests on our site, and you'll see how some shoes score a 3, 4 or even a 5 out of 5 in the dremel test. That being said, many also score the lowest as you could see in the chart in the video
how is the wear on the toe of this shoe? I often have issue where this part of my shoe wears down (even though I cut my toenails as much as possible 😂). I wanna buy it but I'm concerned this video says it basically sucks
This shoe brought me to a knee injury, 2 months so far. For some reason, it changed my foot posture an the way my knee supports. The first run with them brought me pain in the lower/front "external" side of both knees. Swapped to the Novablast for a couple runs and zero issues, then rotated to the superblast and run a 10k... results? More pain than ever and now I simply can't run after 8 weeks. I really wanted to like this shoe 😢
Same. It is a great shoe in so many ways, for the right people. It changed my foot pattern/biomechanics and i got severe foot pain on the outer sides of my feet. Could barely walk 😢
The Superblast is without question the best, non-plated, shoe released in the last 10 years. Nothing compares to its comfort and versatility. It's easily worth the asking price.
I've done about 50 miles in mine so far and I'm on the fence. They have poor grip on anything vaguely wet, the lace lockdown seems ok but not great. They are quick though
Next are: Nike InfinityRN4, Hoka Mach X, Hoka Gaviota 5, Hoka Clifton 9 and the Adidas Ultrabounce. We literally just restarted the video reviews, but the 1080v13 should definitely be among the tested shoes! We tested the v12 in the lab (you can find it on the website), and surprisingly found the drop to be just 3.3 mm and not 8 mm as advertised. We follow World Athletics standards on all measurements. Would be interesting to see if they have adjusted that for the v13
The Superblast is amazing. I run in NB, Hoka, and Nike. The superblast is better than anything they have to offer. The review above is slanted. Ignore it. The superblast is absolutely amazing.
This may be splitting hairs, but Asics says that FF Turbo is Nylon based, not a PEBA foam. Granted, PEBA is in the larger nylon family, so the difference may be minimal.

Is $200 really that different than $180 for Mach X? Don’t waste your time with NVB3, is incredibly unstable and less durable.
We have purchased it already and it will be live on the site, eventually. However, I don't expect us to make a YT video of it as other models will be of higher priority at the moment

If we make it slower, it will be too hard to see the difference in abrasion from model to model. We've experimented quite a bit with different setups and found this to be the best one.

Great science but in my experience the Superblast is an unbelievably durable shoe. Still going strong at almost 900kms.
How many pairs that have reached that distance?
@@xyzv8640 on my second pair. First pair broke 1000kms. Second pair now at almost 800.

Between Superblast and Gel nimbus 25, which one is better and more bouncy?
What about volleyball? Is it viable? Can you make a video about shoes for that sport?
The stack height is too tall for it to be relevant for volley. You need a shoe that is lower to the ground. Volley is not our focus, unfortunately
ASICS makes awesome vball shoes, Sky Elites are my favorite but they make more vball shoes for higher performance and more budget friendly as well.
Awesome review
I found it very plush tbh, you don't want too soft when you have a stack height that big. It's great as an extremely comfy cruiser esp when your legs are tired and you appreciate the lightness. But found it lacking at speed, really lacking responsiveness below 6 min mile. So overall a bit disappointed as I was hoping for more versatility given the price tag....
Hey there
Is it fit for flat feet ?
which one is better between superblast VS boston 12....???
Boston is a fast shoe
I just curious, is running shoes work for volleyball game,, I mean it's safe or not?
Not good for volleyball. You want a shoe that is lower to the ground than this
No 👎
Yeah breathability is definitely something that only matters to people in warm climates. Try caring about breathability in the frigid winter in -40 degrees. You want that stuff to get trapped in. The score there is so arbitrary compared to everything else.

I did 700 km in my shoes and they still perfect .. i will buy a second pair when the v2 comes out in december
Why do you destroy shoes in your lab instead of just running with them?
Because we think we can help more people pick the right shoes for them :)
Just got used to the less cushioning, bare foot running approach...now shoes are getting bigger...yikes..more choice, more confusion 😱😱
Isn’t the problem with the Asics Superblast that it’s good at some many things but not great at any? Especially given the price tag? I’ve had them for 6 months and as much as ok as they are, I’d rather spend £300 and get 2 pairs of different shoes 🤷♂️
Man, can you please add Turkish Subtitles option?
Dremel is to aggressive to show realistic wear resistance, should really try a slower less abrasive method
If we make it slower, it will be too hard to see the difference in abrasion from model to model. We've experimented quite a bit with different setups and found this to be the best one.
I don’t really think any of the ASICS shoes have a good breathability
Thank you for you vid bro.. i have another asics, the outsoles the worst (among puma, adidas, nike, NB). ENough with asics, WonT buy it anymore
Wouldn’t running hundreds of miles be a better way to test durability instead of using a drill? Seems pretty dumb testing.
