Replaying PoE 2 as an Island Aumana from the Deadfire Archipelago showed me just how reactive these games can be to your character, you get hundreds of unique dialogue bits and even have random roaming background characters react to your differently. So I'm really hoping that playing a Godlike in Avowed will be a similar experience.
I’m currently in the middle of my first play through of PoE 1 and truly enjoying it. It’s way darker than the second. I’m taking time to read everything in-game. I pledged to finish it before playing Avowed. I’m truly hyped and hope Obsidian will give us some meaty DLCs. Great video Slandered!
POE one has a much better dark fantasy vibe and art style than Deadfire or really any turn based rpg. Loved that game. I was hoping Avowed would cop the same vibe. It looks excellent tho I do wish it was a bit darker and grittier. Maybe it is and they are just not leading with that. Kind of has an iridescent color pallet something like Outer Worlds. We shall see. I'm hopeful it's good.
Pillars of Eternity is actually, still, my favorite cRPG - I love what came before, and after. But it took work for me to get into it, I had to read and remember to make it worthwhile. Once I was willing to put in the work, I got something out of that game that I had never had... It is the only cRPG that I didn't really try to mod. I'm a hardcore modder on BG1/2, I even like them in Wrath (mostly for camera stuff, honestly) and BG3 (again, camera stuff - and some tweaks). Third person will allow me to play it without bitching about first person (I hate shooters, I would not even consider Skyrim like that). Thanks for your thoughts, brother!
@@coreygreene9498 I don't really care either way. What determines if we get a pillars 3 is if this game sells well. If it doesn't sell well microsoft will probably drop the ip.Romances sell, particularly to the female gamers. this trailer looks a lot better than the last gameplay vid. it sounds like there will be some cool RPG story and world changing options and player agency. excited to watch other people play it later this year!
If I can approach being a godlike like Pallegina, then I'm all for it. I want to hate being godlike, and sexy, and covered in feathers, and... tall, and brown, and beautiful. Honestly, I want to see Pallegina in this game so bad.
You wont be any godlike from the pillars games, it is some flavor of the month unknown god. So no, you wont get to pick anything other than how "big" the fungus nonsense growing on your face is.
I’m still a bit grumpy they didn’t make another isometric pillars game, I don’t expect this to be of a quality much higher than “Outer Worlds” meaning on the smaller more linear side.
It looks very promising. The only thing I did not like were the weirdly designed Godlike growths. I do worry about the advertising and marketing. It seems to be marketed to POE veterans rather than a general public. I am not sure I would find it as appealing without the tons of hours I have in POE 1 and 2. Worrisome.
Very excited for this game! I think we will see a large Woedican influence especially since Inquisitor Lodwyn is a very fanatical Steel Garrote paladin. I believe she may be reincarnated as a sort of champion of Woedica.
dang i cant be a gremlin orlan rogue, i hope the choices of godlikes is broader then the rpg or maybe some hidden unlocks would be nice, love the pillars world, thank you for your great vids, made me wanna play pillars 1 again before i get 2 :D
I think the combat is looking much-improved over what they showed at the Developer Direct in January, so that has me encouraged. But the two things I'm wondering now are... 1. Are there stores or merchants? 2. I know it's not an open world game, but how much space is there to stretch our legs and find secrets etc?
I'm a lot more excited for Avowed than I am Dragon Age. What we saw in the podcast all looked good no real complaints. Combat looks satisfactory enough for me and while I would love to see more abilities from other classes like Chanter, Cipher, Monk or Paladins if not I won't be too upset if that ends up not being the case.
what's good fps melee combat supposed to look like to you? got any examples at all? as someone who's been playing vermintide 2 for years I loved the combat we saw in the gameplay demo.
@@ZainAhmad-jl4vt Best first person melee combat I played was Dark Messiah way back. There really aren't that many RPG or RPG adjacent first person games out there that I can think of that would qualify as "good" to the people complaining about it.
@@CrazyxEnigma Never got much into Dark Messiah, from what I gather the fun part of dark messiah's combat wasn't the melee itself but how the combat interacted with environments. The best example of good combat for is vermintide. I believe there was an interview with obsidian last year were they mentioned that they were looking at both dark messiah and vermintide to see how to best do combat in game like avowed.
@@ZainAhmad-jl4vt I never played Vermintide personally unless you want to count the demo for the first game, tried the demo and attempted to get a couple buddies interested in it but no dice so never bothered with it after that.
They mentioned previously that the game is classless, so you can mix and match playstyles. I just hope there are a good amount of options, I loved the chanter in Pillars of Eternity but it doesn't seem that is an option here. We'll have to see though once it comes out.
The gameplay looked great? Did you see some exclusive footage they showed no one else? I am genuinely curious cause the gameplay I saw looked generic, floaty, and very odd.
I'm excited for the story and the setting, but the combat looks like a chore to me. I know this is what Avowed was intended to be since the beginning, but... So I'm looking at this, and I'm looking at the Veilguard gameplay reveal, right? I'm seeing all the action rpgs/soulslikes getting featured at Summers Games Fest and Steam Next Fest, and I'm just thinking its starting to feel like a bit of crowded room. But hey, if you're one of the people who are hyped for this, I'm happy for you.
While I am definitely still interested in Avowed, I'm fairly certain from what they've shown and said, that none of the class skills outside of Rogue, Wizard, Ranger and Fighter will be available. I'd love to be able to play as a Chanter, Monk, Druid or Cypher in that type of game, but it definitely doesn't seem like any of those will be an option. I would love to be wrong and have them appear as secret advanced skill options that you gain access to after completing special quests or something, but none of what we've been shown suggests that will be the case 😞 What I am hopeful about is how our Godlike powers manifest, since that may allow for even more interesting gameplay options than what they showed in the combat trees 🙂
@@SlanderedGaming If that's the case, then I'm surprised those aren't the skills that they showed in the reveals. I think Chanter and Cypher are way more mechanically interesting than the class skills that they've shown, and would likely do a lot more to bring more eyes on the game. The currently shown skills just make it look like an Elder Scrolls clone, and while we fans know better, outside observers don't 😞
Being a Vermintide/Darktide player, i can say i'll probably skip melee in this game and focus on magic. Melee attacks seem to not have real impact, even less than in Skyrim.
Man this just keeps seeming less and less interesting, to me. I don't want to play a Godlike. The gameplay looks meh. This is going to tank sales-wise I think. I'm not sure how new-to-PoE friendly it's gonna be. Guess I can just keep replaying PoE1 every few years for my fix.
Seeing an orlan in first person suddenly makes all the racism against them in pillars make complete sense. Who could take one of them serious with those ears.
