      @MooneyPilot that's unfortunate, here in Indiana there are very few restrictions on that sort of thing. The politicians keep trying to though, especially in Indianapolis. It's a large blue zit in a state of mostly red.

    The tests are done with the windows heated, this allows the window to flex. The cold window is much more brittle

    • @TuxWing

      Not mention that the window was near vertical, when in reality the window would be slanted allowing for way more deflection of the projectile. Looks like fun but not realistic.

      Well, what’s the air temp at ~35k feet? It’s definitely not warm at that altitude. So, I would say this is a fair test even with the temperature variable

    • @buckmurdock2500
      @buckmurdock2500 4 місяці тому

      @@saylorj6810 lessee, the standard lapse rate is 2 degree C per 1000 ft.
      35,000 ft x 2 = 70. Minus the SL temp of 15C means the temp at 35,000 ft is -55C

    • @Exuma_Guy
      @Exuma_Guy 4 місяці тому

      At high altitude, the windscreen stays warm enough to keep the ice off (above freezing). There are other factors besides lapse rate involved.

      I always wanted to save and purchase a Elvis tag. After you used one for target practice I am having second thoughts. The tags are not cheep (expensive for me) to see one shot at is a little sad to see. Love all you videos but this one hurts me just a tad.

    I worked in a glass window factory 28 years ago. We made bulletproof glass the was three inches thick. It was for Humvees. I seriously doubt that even the .50 BMG would actually penetrate the whole way through it. Maybe the armor piercing round might have a chance. 😁

    A few things. Birds and bullets both begin with the letter "B", but beyond that, they are not comparable. The windshield really should be angled back more, that will affect impact damage. Finally, I'm sure this video will be deemed unnecessarily violent, wish I could click the "like" button multiple times. This was a fun video to watch.

I was worried that .50 BMG might ricochet back at you from that 3 inch steel plate!! Saw a video where that actually happened it came back and hit something on or near the shooter, might of taken his headset ear protectors off. Long time ago video but scary as heck! Im glad you had alot of fun though! Im guessing that area was around Somewhere in the midwest or Kentucky? Nice place! That bowling ball was fun!

It's not that I don't like the bang sticks or the airplanes, but I kind of try to keep those two realms in different videos. I wish you well, friend. UA-cam is so desperate for good content that it will undoubtedly shove a video of yours in my feed if it turns out to be a banger which will remind me to check out your progress. FWIW, it's not just the mixing of the bang sticks, but the direction of the channel as a whole. Safe flying.

    I took a red tail hawk through the windshield of my zenith 750 last year .
    I was at 7000 feet cruising about 95 miles an hour, i leaned back over in the back of the plane to grab a water bottle while my head was turned it hit.
    Landed right in my lap, with that gaping hole in the windshield I will tell you that is a lot of wind drag with the air rushing in the cabin
    I was about 15 miles from the nearest airport, luckily I had auto pilot and it was on so I was able to get things situated and get the bird out of my lap while it was flying itself but landed uneventful, to the rest of the windshield off took The passenger side door off put it in the back of the plane and flew back home 80 miles landed at the house and had it fixed in two days thanks Zenith aircraft overnighting me a windshield
