The fact that it hurts humans so bad means it's guaranteed death for the creatures that it hunts and eats. The most painful sting of my life was administered by a small assassin bug in central Argentina. It was black with a yellow spot on its back, and came to lights in fair numbers. Only about 12 mm long, so not one of the larger species. Unlike the larger species, which often are quite phlegmatic (like this red species), this thing drilled me in the thumb the instant I picked it up, and it felt like a railroad spike dipped in acid. It was shockingly painful, far worse than a hornet or bee sting. Most of my thumb was discolored, and the discoloration lasted for a month. By the way, it was not the "vinchuca," the larger conenose assassin bug that spreads Chagas-Mazza. So if you're ever in Argentina, beware of these little guys! I think I was bit by an assassin bug (a wheel bug to be more exact) as a child, except it was big and grey. I used to go to a bridge down by a river down in Pottersville Missouri (which sadly doesn't exist anymore do to a massive flood iirc), and one time I grabbed on a metal bar at the edge and felt a sharp sting. It was a bug that I've never seen before and it was so ugly that I thought I would die in a matter of hours if not days. Thankfully nothing happened past the pain, but I did find out that it was called an Assassin bug and they were even showing up in my hometown. I've been hearing scary things about them carrying chagas disease and how they can take effect after 10-20 years or never at all. Thankfully I think it's been more than 20 years since I was bit, so I think I'm safe. They still scare me though.

Man, some bugs are terrifying 😢
Okay but can we talk about how big that bug is because absolutely not 😖🤮
I asked them to do the Assassin Bug in a past video due to it being my favorite insect in the world, and they did it.
Us: We want to learn more about assassin bugs!
Mark: Gotcha, I'll take a bite for you!

I like coyote Peterson and marks videos because they teach you what bugs to never pick up or touch and sometimes they are cute butthey are dangerous and sometimes the cute one are safe ..

one of these days, something might bite him before he is ready.
Hey, Mark. I just want you to know that I love you and you don't have to do this. We love watching this, don't get me wrong. But some questions are better left unanswered. Stay safe.
bugs look so much like demons i wouldn't be suprised if they were lol
They're life forms that evolved with survival mechanisms. Just like you did.
@@noahstanley9300we didn't evolve from Gorillas or monkeys God made us
I agree I was thinking the same thing @killukrue
they're just misunderstood. I'll never fully understand why 8/10 people have an immediate fear response or senseless killing of said bug. 🤔
@@thatDUDEfromMAINE You answered your own question, because they are misunderstood.
i liked the slow motien ''aaaah'' : D
No offense to Marc but it sounds like a minecraft villager

Are there any difference in the pain of the bite of the assasin bug? I imagen red is more painfull.
That could be true 😮
Insane vid guys 😱 my grandad went to Borneo with the Royal Marines decades ago and must’ve been terrified of these
Assassin bugs make great pets.
They are amazing predators & fascinating to keep.

Isn't Chagas disease spread by the feces of the assassin bug? So wouldn’t the bite have no risk of transmitting Trypanosoma cruzi?

SHEEEEEESH. Dude, you're one of my heroes. You had me on EDGE there, broh!
Assassin bugs are beneficial insects here in South Texas. They eats tons of pest in the garden and somehow can catch flies with consistency I’ve seen. I’m just now learning they have painful bites, they truly live up to their names!
Is there a webpage or any other place online where the BSI can be found? As a list or official ranking that is continuously updated. if there isn't, there should be or y'all should be working on that.
8:00 for the bite.
Assassin bug bites can hurt a lot
Yes ofc it hurts like 100
Him "man I hate needles" him again " I don't know if I was bitten properly, I got to go again" 😅😅
