I always found the Bull Terrier somewhat intimidating - maybe it's the appearance ... they always appeared "threatening" to me. Then i met one! My opinion was changed in an instant when walking home and one simply ran AT me and demanded that I play chase with her. Magnificent dogs.
I was the same couldn't read the reaction on their faces dident trust them .... and ended up owning three and fostering over 25 , I couldn't have any other dog now their just not dogs if it ent a bully !
I have had different breeds of dogs for 30 years untill one bully stole my heart and never gave it back. Bullies are amazing goofballs! I miss my Lola every day.

If you're not ready to take care of an extra-hyper 50 pound Jack Russell terrier, I would advise against owning one. This dog is not for everyone. Having said that, I wouldn't give mine up for the world.
They don't seem to bark much. Great temperament and very intelligent dogs.
They can get much heavier, up to 80lbs isn't unheard of,
They are NOTHING like a Jack Russel lol. But nothing alike, tho I do know a couple of Bull Terriers (curiously colored ones) that are exactly like that. But most are more bull dog chilled with some hyper bursts than an annoying bark and growl machine Jack Russel.

i had my Bull Terrier Jack for 11 years. He left me August 2017 and I miss him more than anything. Watching these videos are torture and I dont know why I do it.
The daily fix of Bull terrier are needed. Knows it as an fellow "bullyman".
We lost our Olivia in April 2017. I’ve been heartbroken ever since and still think of her daily. It’s unreal how close of a bond this breed has with its family.

I used to think Bull Terriers were ugly, until I met one who lives in a house along the route where I walk my dogs. He is often in the front yard, and gets so excited when anyone walks by. He runs around in circles and comes and says hello, then does a few more spins from the sheer joy of it all, such a friendly happy dog.

I grew up with a bull terrier and have had 2 since then, they are exactly as described in this video, although he did not mention they seem to be able to defy gravity when they go into play mode.
This is literally the most honest and accurate review of this breed EVER. I’ve had bull terriers for about ten years and this is spot on. People expect a dog like a golden retriever and he they get them. These guys are total opportunists and laser focused on what they want, and you will never stop laughing if you own one and get their quirks.

Hooray! I usually don't see or hear anyone know or understand the difference anymore. Having said that I love all bull terriers, but damn it the public is stubborn even when they are going the wrong direction for trend and style, and even if it doesn't make sense. I remember reading about the bull terrier that won the huge dog show mourned 1900 (I think?) that had more of an arch to its face, and some "preferred" the "stronger" look... which means some snobs didn't understand the arch was not stronger, but just different.
The original was actually a rather handsome dog. I think the late versions can be handsome as well, but more cute and entertaining than handsome. The original had that nearly perfect wedge-- no indentations but also no drip or bend or hang anywhere. It was the coolest head in the dog world. For those who don't get it, they typically never give themselves time to look up old text and pictures. There's just too much to do. It's amazing how many people have never seen the original look of the breed; an almost perfectly proportioned dog.
The personality, from what I can tell of old text (books, not smart phone BS)... is quite the same as today. A great dog then and now.

All pedigrees have inherited issues but if you breed responsibly you'll be fine. The benefits outweigh the negatives I'm afraid.... Imo
@@bluescousenilsatis There are many breeds who have very serious problems that we can't breed out. Bull terriers commonly have dental malocclusion and/or patellar luxation and many have breathing issues due to their deformed head shapes. There's many other breeds that suffer bad issues too, especially short-faced dogs (pugs, english bulldogs, french bulldogs, etc) where the majority have to go through reconstructive surgeries because they can't breathe or exercise. Both bull terriers and english bulldogs also have birthing complications which makes c-sections very likely, and natural births can be dangerous, due to their head shapes. If we want to keep the extreme traits that these dogs have (which, for the bull terrier, is mainly the head), we can't breed these dogs without encouraging more and more health problems. Not to mention, more health problems are developing due to breed standards that push for more extreme features, as inbreeding is common. About 15% of bull terriers are closely inbred, which should not be acceptable.
Bull terriers also have a couple more health problems that are a bit more uncommon but still associated with the breed, including, but not limited to:
heart complications, heart disease, allergies, compulsive behavior, kidney disease, kidney failure, deafness, rashes, and immune system complications.
@@Ash-gj8jt The head shape doesn't develop until after 2 months. I've bred bullies and never had any problems. My main dog had a hous mite allergy which was successfully treated. It's true that there are problems but should we not breed German shepherd's because of hip problems, same with boxers, dobermans? What about Daschunds and joint issues? Do you agree with eugenics too?
I had a Bull Terrier. The real problem I had with him was that he eats everything in front of him, rocks, paper, plastic.. Seing some memes in the internet I thought that was a normal behavior of them. He died because he ate an entire plastic ball.. So be careful with things it can eat

I'm raising my second BT and they are the greatest dog ever.. BUT if you haven't successfully trained a dog don't belive you will EVER train a BT...
Bull Terrier can be trained but it requires a lot of patience, it is not stupid, but can be a little stubborn or care what you want just in together
I gave up trying to train our Bullies and figured out that you have to let them train you 😂.
I never trained or had a dog before I raised mine knmy own (and internet) 6 years on and he is great. It's a matter of observing, build trust, tackle anything that might even be a problem or even a slight nuisance, establish strict limits and just make an agreement where both meet half way. They are stubborn when you are soft as shit or just a ditactor. If you meet half way and let them be they will obey when it matters.

Thank you for mentioning the paw thing... my bull terrier Oney at first was super okay walking in my town on concrete and now he's almost 5 and he is very weird and sensitive about where he walks and will literally not walk on gravel or concrete... he prefers grass... thank you so much for making me feel like I'm not the only person who deals with this.❤

Never had one, but am considering one. I met one a few years ago, much like your wife. He jogged up to me and RAMMED ME , I thought I was hit by a NFL Linebacker! I am 6'1" 275 and I was knocked backwards. All he wanted was to say HI!! I have owned 9 dogs including BIG Labs and Pit Bulls and that Bull Terrier was the most concentrated mass of power I ever experienced.

Picked up my bull terrier pup 5 months ago.......two months ago found out he was totally deaf. Come to find out 20 percent of white bull terriers are deaf. We still love him but lots of extra work.
Here in denmark, every bullterrier from dkk breeders are tested for all the bad things.
That means perfect health for all bullterriers, for the past 10 years. Actually, one of the reasons we want a bullie, is because of their extreme healthy condition. Very tight joints. Good hearing. Good eyesight. Good heart etc.
Bullies with those deficiencies make even more lovable family members.
I free feed my doggy also. She always has food available and gets a hot dinner every evening. Usually boiled chicken thigh or hamburger. She has a little chub but is happy and healthy.
just be careful with the chub...my grandpa also spoiled my bullterrier a lot with food when it was younger, after he passed my dog lost a lot of weight but now she has arthrosis...it only shows after a few years.

This dog breed will always have my heart. My dad brought home Miss Piggy when I was 6 years old and she was one of the best dogs we ever had. Never a dull moment and lots of wet kisses. This breed is great with kids, Miss Piggy was fully grown and always really gentle.❤️ She crossed the rainbow 🌈 bridge due to skin cancer. Still miss her to this day.🤗❤️

Bull Terriers are a fantastic breed... but they're not perfect and they're definitely not for everyone (definitely not a first dog dog). Most bullies have strong prey drive and can be dangerous to smaller pets (including toy dog breeds, fluffy rodents and cats). You can build a recall but it's always possible at any time that they'll decide to give you the proverbial finger and go their own way (keep them leashed or contained... and invisible fence is unlikely to work, they tend to have a very high pain threshold). They are EXUBERANT... and can knock down little people or love them to bruising so I'd not recommend them for families with small children. They're very solid dogs and even the small ones can pack a wallop when they run into you at 'ramming speed'. They also tend to eat things they shouldn't and that can result in expensive vet bills. They're not good fighters but seem to think they are... so they'll jump on the head of another dog and more often than not get beat up - but their aggression is usually triggered by things like food or toys (many of them are toy crazy) and can generally be managed. They're INCREDIBLY devoted and are very sensitive to punishment. We've had them for 20+ years and can't imagine life without them. While the owner in the video free feeds his... for the vast majority of bullies that's a recipe for a fat bullie (they love food, they also love sleeping). Many owners like their bullies fat because it slows them down... we keep ours trim because they're so much more fun when they're going like stink everywhere.

i got one as my first dog, it was 5 months old and quickly turned from a cute puppy into a teenage demon, i got help from a good dog trainer for 4 hours and trained rly hard. With a little help i could manage it because the only problem was i didnt understand some dog behaviours. That was 9 years ago,shes a super well behaved dog,and all dog sitters praise how easy she is to handle and that she behaves like a angel...and today i think no breed is only for beginners or experts,its how much you are wiling to learn about the breed and try to get it working out with eachother. If you talk about a golden retriever as a beginner breed for example, a total ignorant clueless person also can turn that dog bad and dangerous for society. I also met people that owned dogs for 20 years and theire dogs behave like maniacs, zero control over them. Mostly small dogs that should be easy to train like chihuahuas, because they are clever. My uncle is super ignorant and dumb he has a chihuahua and says that its normal that the dog barks all the time at everything,because its small,i took it for a walk with me and it reacted to every boundry i showed it. It was a totally different dog with me.That is also a amazing thing i learned about dogs over the years, with different people they can be good or bad behaved rly fast, they adapt well to the people around them! :)

i'm a huge fan of terriers- i have a scottie, i love pit bulls and staffies and norwich terriers but the bull terrier is my favorite dog of all time-they're just awesome. i agree that bullies (or any terrier) should be your first dog-terrier terror is a real thing. also i wouldn't recommend giving them rice-sweet potato or lentils is a more nutritious source of starch :)

My English bull is not the most gentle as she had accidentally head butted me many times trying to come in for a hug, but the love i have felt from this dog is like none other. She knows when I am sad and won't leave my side. She's stubborn and refuses to walk when it's raining, and she's goofy, randomly charging from the bedroom to the living room, before running in a circle then bounding off again.

Hey Allen, In 1970 the movie Patton came out. I was 15 years old and told my mother I wanted a dog like Patton's dog. She told me that NO dog THAT ugly would ever live in this house. Well, it's my house and I just got my fouth BT. All my dogs were rescue dogs. This last dog is deaf and was dumped in South Texas on the street We believe he was born in mexico. Anyway, Bones the deaf dog looks like your white Cavaliers. Anyway, all four of my dogs have had distinct personalities. But, they all share common traits. I love these crazy meatheads. I die laughing at them. BTW, the first paragraph of the AKC Dog Bible says, this breed is the clown of the dog world and that is so true. Your video was very good and I agree with everything you said. All dog breeds are like ice cream. BTs are chocolate rocky road with whipped cream and cheeries on top.

40 years I have had two, and I recently talked my wife into driving to Missouri from wyoming to get a Female puppy. I guess my wife just doesn’t have patients for Bullies any more , Daisy is the sweetest dog ever, but so stubborn and difficult to train, maybe it’s me getting old, and it’s not her fault , but; the most difficult Bully si have ever TRIED to train, it pisses my wife off so bad!

The breed I want to get when I move out of my apartment and buy a house.
i have mine in a small apartment without a garden since 9 years and shes a rocket, it doesnt matter how big your home is as long as you exercise your dog well. My dog never destroyed anything. A house doesnt help you if you dont excercise your dog and it gets bored, it wont walk and entertain itself in a house.
I don't mean to be rude but there's something about the man's face that resembles the dogs'.

My first dog was a Bull Terrier then added a second one months later.. It was a lesson learned the hard way. 😅That is now almost 20 years ago. But have never since been without one. What can break new owners is that in their early years, they only have two modes. 0% and 100%. You almost never see the "normal" dog until they are 3-4 years old. But stil they are the best dogs. Loyal, but don`t give a f. And pure comedy on 4 legs. 😂
