    Just wanted to say that my katana 100 has given me; after several tweaking of course, the most sick, deep, tight, ass kicking, gut wrenching metal tones I've played. Took my band to a new level.
    It's ridiculous how fucking loud it gets for its size, it makes no sense.
    Blessed be boss for bringing these products.

    I own a Boss Katana Artist 100 thanks to watching OLA's video here. I wanted an amp that can do a lot in a combo format. And the one thing I am most appreciative for is the way this speaker boss has come up with for this waza series of cabinets and amps. the G12w sounds amazing to me. vintage greenback tone with moden power handling for today's higher wattage equipment. I love that speaker.

    • @singleproppilot
      @singleproppilot 2 роки тому

      It is a badass speaker. I bought a Katana Artist Mk II and it's a great sounding amp on its own, but I discovered some magic by plugging my 5150 III in to the Katana's Waza speaker. WOW.

I really liked the tone Shape EQ Contour settings and the waza speaker and cab just sounded so much better to me. I spent hours at guitar center going back and forth. I really like the cab resonance and deep was for me. It just sounded much better to my hears overall and once I played with the contour , which I leave on 3 and went back to the 100 2X12 it sounded flat that I did not have the contour eq settings. I've been a working musician for almost 30 years now. Have owned many amps including Triple Recs, JCM800,900,DSL's, Randalls, Laney's, Carvins and my Katana head with a 2x12 of G12T-75's is the best gigging amp I have ever owned period. I have been gigging mine for over a year now and night in/night out it's phenomenal. I do not play much metal other than the occasional old school stuff like Ozzy,Priest, or Maiden but it performs perfectly up to that point. It's not designed to be ultra high gain thats why it gets so noisy when Ola turns the gain to satan mode. If you need ultra high gain this isn't the amp for you.

    • @christopher2534
      @christopher2534 4 роки тому +5

      Bob It actually works wonderfully with high gain, as these amps were designed for high gain. Ola was just doing a real quick rundown and didn’t do much tweaking. The Tone Studio app completely opens this amp to almost every sonic possibility. Literally

  • @hoosierdaddy2308
    @hoosierdaddy2308 6 років тому +15

    I have got to get one of these. killer.
    I actually want the 50 watt version.
    Thru my excellent AKG headphones, these sound just like a tube amp to me, or really close. I've gigged with a couple solid state amps as well as of course tube amps. Never had an audiance member say I can't believe you used a solid state analog amp. ;), nor did I have any complaints about my tone from band mates. Actually most loved my Peavey solid state amps or hybrid Marshall Valvestate amps.
    Besides it is so much easier to use and maintain a solid state amp VS a tube amp. They are also consistant. Get volume from the PA.

      Hoosier Daddy well did you get one?

    • @robertphillips597
      @robertphillips597 6 років тому +1

      Hoosier Daddy I agree with you.. I have the little katana 50 and gig small to medium sized pubs with a loud hard hitting drummer and the amp keeps up fine.. I've owned a decent amount of tube amps and this is definitely better than some of them.. I tore my back out and just got back into playing after a few years of no playing period. I picked this up March 2018 and was a bit shocked how far solid state and modeling has advanced. The lines are blurring very close tonal and feel wise between tube and solid state technology. I used to use an old line 6 pod and sans amp gt2 to do little home recording demos like this one www.reverbnation.com/robertjosephphillips/songs
      And with a cheap little tascam portastudio. I could never get my tube amps to sound this good, at least in a on the cheap home studio environment. But now solid state and modeling amps are leaping by strides and bounds for the live performance environment!

    Wish they made a smaller valve version. A 20 watt valve katana would be perfect, obviously with a power reducer option as valve amps are freaking loud.

      Yeah I had to find out by myself how loud valve amps are lol, got an Orange Rocker 15 thinking it wouldn't be enough, I can't even go to half volume on the 1W setting in case I upset the neighbours. Sucks hahah

    actually Ola with the version 2 you can download into the Katana combos or the 100w Head..with the boss tone studio under system you have Cabinet Resonance and line out Air feel.. but if you don't have a killer cab I would recommend this Artist Version because the WAZA speaker is a better speaker that what comes in all 3 Katana Combos...that's why I bought the Head..I have a linited edition classic Marshall 4 x 12" with Celestions 75W...have you ever tried the WAZA CRAFT YET...

      Do you play metal and are downtuned more than 2 steps or have cheap or weak output pickups? I personally think Blackstar amps don't handle low tunings all that well, especially through cheap, muddy pickups, so that may explain it.
      I've wanted a TVP for a few months now after seeing a demo by Matt The Riff Master, I'm still thinking if I should save up for one.

      If the Katana had valve emulation (6l6, el34, kt88 etc) there would be no need for anyone to build another mod amp ever!!!

    Hello Ola. I have the Katana 50 and I am hesitant about using the tone studio. All the tutorial vidoes I have watched make it seem so easy but I am worried about messing up the amp. I read in one of the manuals that if the knobs on the amp are not set right when using the to studio you can permanently mess up the amp and would have to send it to Roland/ Boss to have it repaired. There a chance you could do a Boss Tone Studio for dummys vid? Or do you know of some good resources that is more in depth on the software. Thanks from Oregon/ Iowa, Blake. P.S. I saw The Haunted in early 2000 Portland, Oregon on the Cannibal Corpse and you guys killed it, Cheers!

    You should write one crunch riff and then just recycle it everytime you have an amp with a crunch channel to demo.
