- We've had our Freestyle for over a year now, and its integrated into our TV set up nicely - and then I got a few additional bits that make it so much better!
* Black-out Blinds (lol)
* Apple TV+ 4K 64GB (oddly bundled into my home broadband contract)
* MiniRig wireless super speaker.
I have the full set up but for this video I just used the one.
* Disable the autofocus and set it up for a HUGE screen from over 3m away.
Freestyle 2023 basically just has a better computer inside so save £1,000 and just use an external smart-box!

Totally agree - we have a screen at my parents, but our house is too small really
I love having the freestyle but it struggles to stop overheating and with freezing. It dosent work well with amazon firestick when using the micro hdmi cable and I dont know if thats why. I was also disappointed that samsung had ads of game mode displaying on the homepage but didnt come with the freestyle. I hope samsung can fix these things in there later versions.
Yeah - game mode is an odd thing showing the OS isn’t optimised for this neat little projector. I’d not managed to get it to work well with my google cast stick so didn’t even film that one, but with the Apple TV it’s like a whole new device. Not sure the 2023 version of the projector got released to the public - I should find out.
@@snackplaylove definitely agree with your entire video bro, like I was almost gonna buy the Google chromecast to match my Google home mini to turn off and on the projector hands free, but I thought it was useless spending money on sense I tested Google os with their TVs I thought they could've made it alot better alot smoother sort of like apple tv and or alot like android phones more snappy and customizable. Like I thought changing the background of the home screen would've been a feature on samsung tizen or Google home screens. Idk but the first thing I did when turning the projector on for the first time was to check their settings for things I could tweak. Like high altitude mode so that the project wouldn't over heat, I thought since I heard the speakers were loud at 50 the fan noise would blur. Like connecting multiple Bluetooths like up to two I thought was a cool feature. And I always use high contrast for the smart hub if nothing else. But I found just recently that if the projector freezes, maybe unplug and plug again, go into the settings > support > device care becuse like me you probably needed a diagnosis and probably had power saver on the entire time along with running apps in the back ground. There's alot I like about the size and portability of this project aside from any other. People would not be disappointed when getting this, I like using samsung mirroring feature for dex or music and movies to play. Maybe turn off Bixby cause it might distract you from what you're watching or try not to drop the projector my first one luckily with the warranty I found it was fragile. Oh! And try to keep it clean the projector and remote from dust or residue I tried to find the camo version found out that it was limited. Movie mode displays the best quality although dynamic appears brighter but terrible when displaying darks; if you know you know. Thanks for the vid.
So are you connecting the Apple TV 4K with the Freestyle or that is a previous version Apple TV coz the Freestyle is only support for 1080p resolution?
We had the 4K version so we used it! The Apple TV just auto adjusts the resolution to the target so it displays at the optimal one.

What adapter did you use for the Apple TV and will that same adapter work to connect a MacBook?
The Freestyle uses a Micro HDMI port. Depending on your external device, you will need to use something like a Micro HDMI to HDMI cable, or a Micro HDMI to USB Type-C cable.
How does the original freestyle perform in daylight? Is the display not bright enough?

Don’t buy it to use in daylight, It’s useless. I have it a use it at night when it’s dark blinds closed etc: I really enjoy it but even with abit of ambient light. Picture suffers.
Not worth £800 quid
Bought it in very for £480 with extra 20% discount so for that price it’s ok. Easy set up. For general viewers. Don’t think anyone will be disappointed if you use it at night time only though etc
Just ordered one for 280€ .. Waiting and wondering. You connected it to Apple tv box so calculations are done on it. Can I do the same with my desktop PC? :D What other devices can be used? What if i will use apple tv cable with adapters and connect Freestyle into my PC with it.. It needs some testing :D Does it work only with apple tv or you can use anything else? What about other devices? Can my smartphone do the calculations if apple tv cable is used?
If you can connect it via a HDMI MINI cable to an output source then it’ll just act like an external monitor. My video with the Xbox X shows that well, the resolution is a little low for a PC monitor I found, but it’s neat for a presentation say.
Smartphone for me was a little laggy, but that was on the wireless direct to the device. I’m sure that if you connected to something more powerful with a cable and then used smartphone to that you’d get the best results. Experiment away!
I bought my Samsung Freestyle from eBay (reconditioned) and it cost just 275 euros. An excellent purchase for a super projector which does all that I ask of it.
That’s an absolute bargain - at that price it’s perfect!
Does this work with Google chromecast instead of Apple TV?
It’ll work with anything that has a Micro HDMI connection.
I had an old Chromecast Ultra, bought the adaptor and tried it out. It just wasn’t that user friendly as you had to have a device to cast from as well as the extra set up. It was faster just to wait for the Freestyle to catch up.
If you have the more modern one that comes with a remote and apps the same as Apple TV then it will work the same as long as you buy a Micro HDMI cable.

Will this work with a firestick?
Is a firestick much faster than the onboard brain? This is mainly to speed things up and add missing apps.
You’d need to have a MICRO HDMI connector for it but in theory it’s just like a TV and will behave as such when you plug something in.
why doesn't firestick work?
Probably would if you have the right connectors - I just don’t own one.
To bad Samsung didn't add android tv this would of been a go🤷🏿♂️🤦🏿😪
It’s so odd - it’s like adding the on board tech was an afterthought!
