Me yesterday : eh no I’ve never been able to do it. Like ever. Seriously, why are you even asking? Are you trying to make me feel bad?! Me after watching this vid + 24hrs : I’ve just jammed along to rose rouge and 4 other tracks in the right key with single notes and basic chords! Honestly, that’s amazing I pure feel like I owe you money. Cheers Isabelle!
been working on music for years but always fumbled when it came to this. super good, well-explained video that I can actually understand for once on this. thank you for your help!
Something I’ve never been able to do I now feel (and I will practice this!) I can make a go of. Like the first 4 minutes 50 of this video made more sense to me than a lifetime of explanation in passing face to face. I do a bit of spare time production in dance music coming from a DJ background. While I’ve always been aware of scales and chords and keys, it’s never made a whole lot of sense. That’s two vids from LANDR in just as many days which have caused a bit of a revelation, an aha! moment if you like, in my brain. Peggy’s Scales and now this excellent video on identifying a key and laying it out on a piano roll. Top job, a serious thank you!
I came here because I wanted to find software that could key detect. I ended up loving the process of humming to find the key! Appreciate this video, thank you!
I can't believe something as simple as humming would actually help me. Thanks so much for this video!!! Now I can jam with my friends without feeling awkward!
There are different modes of scales including pentatonic/harmonic/melodic so on .So what about those, still we are able to figure it out! Because you are identifiying through just one note, in case the song might be harmonised in different scale rather than melody..!
It's quite confusing for me to determine if the some songs are Sad or Happy. Like in this video, the song used as an example sounded sad to be but to you it was happy (same goes for Levitating by Dua, to me: Happy, but it's in F minor). In such cases, what should I do?
I also thought it was more on the "sad" side, so I guessed d# minor, which has the same set of notes as F# major. So maybe you're not wrong, its just a different way of seeing it.
It’s easy to hear major or minor using a piano… go four half steps up from the key you’re in and if that sounds right with the song it’s Major. If three half steps up sounds right the song is in a Minor key.
Is there a free alternative to autokey? And i hope the next video is how to fint the time signatur, cause i have made a guitar riff and I am no able to figure out what time signatur I am in. I might just be really bad a keeping time :-)
Wait? But if your in the C major scale already, how is it that C - C is Major and A - A is minor? A - A would be Major too, right? Seeing as that's just the Octaves.
It's easier to learn what a key is.Construct a major key and all the chords.Far stronger grounding.Ear training etc is a false road.Listen to your fave music and work it out.The only training you need is listening to your fave songs !
Is it easy for you to find a key of a song?
In some type of Tracks ya
Nop...
I use sides like tunebat...
tunebat.com/Info/We-re-Good-Dua-Lipa/1diS6nkxMQc3wwC4G1j0bh
F# Major nice
nah but i use auto key to see if im right or not, 8/10 im wrong lol
@@Petch85 tunebat is a godsend

Wow this is awesome so many tricks. Thank you. I can now find key to song
Great. Very useful. Thnx.
Btw, works (only) for major and straight minor scales. Not for melodic and harmonic minor scales.
You are a great teacher, thank you so much
I personally find the key of a song from the melody of the song
Wonderful video - lots of fun to watch while being very comprehensive

True! ----- 1:12 ..... sure, you're gonna hit a few walls ..... like 1:02
Can I use your voice in a production?
Wow that was pretty cool
Key and note are they the same
Excellent. She's funny.
You foony lady, LOL! Thank you for the simplistic explaination. I dig it.❤️
My dumbass was like “Impressive” the first 15 seconds 😂
Don't forget the brute force, by process of elimination method.
There's 12 notes, one of these has to be the key.
Thankyou mam

Hey Ciaran, A minor is the relative minor of C major. Both scales exist in one another. I hope that helps!

I don’t get it. She hums coincidentally the F sharp so it is in F sharp major? What if she would’ve picked another note?
Smart, Beautiful and funny... I ammmm simppppp🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
