The greatest thing about this is that it shows an actual evolution of LCARS and doesn't just ditch it for some holographic interface with no actual UX in mind.

I will NEVER forgive CBS for what they did to Stage 9.
Which is why I am rather concerned for this project, because it looks good but I'm afraid it is inevitably going to get shut down.

@@Marinealver There isn't really a project here, the intent was just to release the video and some images on Artstation.

The only way to counter CBS on that is to release geometry, materials, and textures under an open license such as creative commons, and take the heat. Once a CC licensed thing is out there, it can't be legally taken down unless they blanked bomb their fandom with C&D's and, even then, they'll never be able to fully take it away from the community.
Ideally, one would do an anonymous release as, say, a torrent, and have a bunch of people mirroring it, so CBS would have nobody to blame for it (still, they can C&D the peers, but then, they may not be always on CCBS-friendly jurisdictions), although that would negate the ability to use it as a portfolio entry.

It's the one element of these new designs that just grates on me visually. The recreation here is wonderfully accurate, it's just a problem with the design itself as seen on all of the current shows. Hi Scrag. About Britt's question..
UE5 is being designed around the idea that everything can be done better and more efficiently than it was in UE4. It's almost an internal competition using basically the same people.
There are still some features like Lumen, Niagra, and Nanite that have yet to be revealed and will appear in future variations of the engine. Additional tech like MetaHuman will gain substantial improvements over time, and if features are used correctly then ue5 should outperform ue4 by 100-300%

The new makes things look so futuristic that is totally overwhelmed the Original Star Trek series that were already made. I only watch them because I'm a fan. But the new Klingons look like crap and have marbles in their mouths. The old ones to me were much more realistic and intimidating. Not to mention the ships were better because they were more rugged for a warror race. Sorry just have to vent. I would love to see another one of these with the original stargazer.
