- "We must win or die, Pompey's men have other options" This way of thought brought Ceasar victory at the Battle of Pharsalus even though his army was outnumbered against Rome co-consul Pompey Magnus.
I am fond of history and particularly in the history of Rome and I share videos about it. Rome (2005) was one the best tv show and also some kind of documentary. I claim no rights of the videos I share

I was kind of disappointed this battle wasn't as detailed as the others even though it was one of the most important in my opinion
The gods of budget would not allow it.
But we got Phillipi, mainly cause the fans asked for it.

Caesar put a line of infantry behind his cavalry. Pompey counted on his cavalry getting behind Caesars infantry. Instead his cav was routed and Caesars infantry enveloped his.
This series must either be remade or continued with GOT budget.
I agree, hbo needs to come out and say they made a mistake. Rome's history is so long, they could even pick back up in a different era and it'd still be epic
Too late now... No more Titus Pullo 😢
They won't find a cast as good as the original
@@andrxsinho5626And I doubt they could find decent writers too.
I just noticed that Caesar offered his hand's blood and later Pompey's hand got a deep cut in his hand
No. Pompey clearly states: its not deep, but it hurts

"Battle" of Pharsalus. Filmed with all ten people with close-ups so you can't see what's going on. Such a great series, should've gotten a bigger budget, or do some CGI
Battle scenes are a waste of money. Even the expensive ones never accurately represent the scale of the great battle in antiquity.
Thank God we have Spartacus with Kirk Douglas and Laurence Olivier then for battle scenes!!
@@anglophone412 I think that the battle of gaugamela was done quite well!
All of their money is spent on Sets and costumes. It doesnt matter what the battles looks like, all that matters is the aftermath.
The thing that makes battle scenes great isn't the cinematography of the fight, but the build up of the conflict between characters. This didn't need to have a huge battle scene to be epic, but it still could've benefited from a little more direct confrontation between the two.
The classic example of this in film is how Obi Wan vs Vader in episode IV, was many times more memorable than Obi Wan vs Vader in episode III despite the comparative lack of special effects and choreography.
Cmon man, that’s clearly just your opinion. Both Vader and obi wan fights are very memorable for much different reasons. And not only that, the first fight would of been much more if the technology of the day was like it was when episode 3 came out. Very very different circumstances.
@@NoahHunterGamble Of course it's my opinion, as you have yours. It's the depth of the characters that really resonates with the audience. Special effects are cool in the moment, but they are not what progress the story forward and fall flat without characters one can connect with. The fight in episode 3 was so over the top that it was comical.
Would have been a tad weird to have Caesar dueling with Pompey...
my friends, I address you all, as you are here. this is the video which I listen every day in 5y, leading my man.
I live in a small village near this battle
I wonder if this was always written this way or if they wrote the battle and then did this because of budgetary reasons.
budgetary reasons
It was $9 million per episode so😅
They spent the money very well.
If Pompey had been allowed fight this campaign the way he wanted i.e. Fabian strategy, instead of being rushed into battle by the Senators and his soldiers, then it might have gone the other way.
no doubts on that
Vencer o morir.
yeah, the budget went elsewhere lol
They let the BBC fund this episode.
Did they just reuse footage from the Gaul Campaign?
I think they used the same set for both scenes but the footage isn't reused per say
This show looks so bad
Probably one of the best shows ever made. Top 5.
Wrong.
