Taking a rb in the first round is risky. Taking one who is 5’7 and runs a 4.6 is Brett Veach’s worst move as a GM. He redeemed himself with Pacheco though.
@@redonred0924 yeah but the scouting department has got to say what value the prospect is. If they let mahomes chose whoever he wanted at the end of the first, that’s just organisational failure. At best someone with his profile was a day 2 talent, positional value withstanding.

He has had flashes but he struggled with consistency and staying healthy. He started this past season strong but got hurt, then Pacheco stomped his way to RB1
As a Chiefs fan Clyde got hurt a lot. It also felt like he couldnt adjust to nfl. Not being able to read the holes right, too small but not strong, never that fast. It almost felt like he couldn’t make anything happen.

His biggest problem is he have average speed and average acceleration. If he was a little quicker, he would be able to take a 7 yard gain where he being tackled by the safety into a 40 TD.. I don't think he's a bust. A bust would be someone like Jamarcus Russell. Someone who couldn't' produce at all. Clyde is just your average back who got receiving skills. nothin more, nothin less
Whenever I get into a conversation about Helaire with anyone, we always end up agreeing that he is literally the definition of average. And you don’t use a first round pick on an average running back.
That’s an accurate observation. I really thought he’d be special, at least for 2-3 years. I loved the way he was built, but it hasn’t translated like I thought it would. Idk if it’s vision or patience and something that can be coached up, like pad level and leverage. Idk man. It has been disappointing for sure. I thought Reid would make him a star.
The bad instincts was the worst part. I feel like he had a handful of plays where his small underpowered size let him bounce off a few blocks and slip through a few tackles. The worst part for me to watch was just watching 15 hand him the ball, and he pauses for a second or two, then would run right into some tackles.
Like they say the NFL game is faster than college and he ran a 4.6 40 yard dash at the combine. I don't know how the Chiefs picked a guy that slow with a 1st round pick when they picked Kareem Hunt in the 3rd round years before and got value out of him.
Hes a 5th piece receiving back that hasn't really been used as the backfield threat. Also he isn't an elite athlete and can't really run up the middle.
Andy Reid and Eric Bieniemy had the quintessential west coast RB Jerick McKinnon waste a year of his career third on the depth chart behind practice squad RBs. CLOWNEH & Darrell “Super Bowl drop” Williams can kick rocks
Or they reserved an older, often injured RB for the playoffs where he proceeded to help carry them to an AFC Championship Game. The Chiefs play the long game and don't care about regular season numbers.
Bro Mahomes is better than burrow so that's a dumb take. RB ability usually doesn't depend on great QB play. It helps open up the box but it's not needed.
Damn y’all took this deeper, without the perfect fit & connection at QB he’s mediocre.. I guess y’all are draft rb’s with running qb’s in fantasy football too
He's just too slow to be that small. If he moved like that and also was shaped like Jerome Bettis he would be more successful and the point of contact and falling forward for an extra yard every time you touch the ball changes your ypc from 3.6 to 4.6. That looks a lot better on a stat sheat.

Being 5'7 and running a 4.6 has nothing to do with it. Simply injuries
I wanted DeAndre Swift smh
Mahomes had a say in that too, I know ultimately Veach is the one who has to make the pick, but they asked Mahomes who he wanted, and Clyde was it.

@@brandonfoster5776 I think you made a lot of money in the Alabama game realistically, he's probably should have been drafted in the 3rd round
Should’ve went Swift with that pick. Made more sense although he’s dealt with injury as well
jonathan taylor was right there 😖
@@taymorrison He would’ve been a really good one too. Hindsight I guess lol
Tee Huggins went next
CEH got hurt a lot, and just never had the short range power that a not super fast RB needs.
Did CEH have a single elite trait as a draft prospect?
To be that small you gotta be moving way quicker and running faster than that.
Small, underpowered, bad instincts. And could NEVER punch through at goal line defense. I watched him for 3 years just constantly disappoint

He played much worse after the 2021 Ravens loss. Seemed to hesitate more after he coughed up the ball.

40 time has nothing to do with being a bad nfl player.
Yeah but being a successful running back at 5’7” with a 40 that slow.. The odds are against you.
@Brandon Foster you don't know football

Drafting clyde at 32 is crazy
It was so annoying when the talking heads pretended like this was a great draft pick.
He was a healthy scratch for the SUPER BOWL!
I mean I he did lead the league in rushing his rookie year I think it was just injuries that depleted his already limited athleticism
Clyde never led the league in rushing, that was Kareem Hunt in 17.

I think the man in motion may be concussed....
Texas running back deserved to be number one
Answer: Injuries
Injuries. No need to make an 8 minute video about it
Size, speed, injuries & doesn’t win in short yardage runs. None of those are a good mix for longevity in the NFL

He’s nothing without Burrow
