    So I take it Teddy was supposed to lose the match so people can gloat about how Inoue used to superior technique to oust the bigger stronger player? It's crazy people saying he won because is grips are super strong, like they are not supposed to be lol. Teddy has incredible timing which is probably his best asset which aids him in his change of direction throws and ashi waza

      Michael Rahming skill and technique can only do so much . A 6 foot tall muscular man weighing 185 pounds with excellent cardiovascular conditioning can out grapple a 5foot 7 guy not too muscular guy even if the smaller guy was more skilled.

      Every match can have any result, but Inoue DID have a superior technique, that's a matter of fact. Of course, having a great technique has never made anybody invincible and this all doesn't mean that Riner has a mediocre technique, such a statement would be silly for a 8 times world champion afterall. But man, Riner was about 40kgs heavier with a very low fat percentage, I think Inoue still did brilliantly in such a situation.

    not that i'm in any way the magnitude of a judo player to be expressing an opinion on the match, but i'm not surprised that Inoue had difficulties in this match. his natural "go to move", the uchi-mata is very difficult to make work on such a tall (long legged)opponents. in doing so you have to rotate and lean forward so far before it sticks that it's not such a stable technique in the situation. there are other moves that perhaps would have worked, but i don't think they're his "go to moves".

    Riner is good as a technical player and add his height and size makes him formidable. but the smaller ones must depend more on better technique, improvisation and agility. The Japanese could better and had it been that he is also like Riner in size Riner could not beat him. This fight contest shows how the smaller guy give Riner a hard time. Just think if there is no disparity in size and strength.

    • @stillgotyourmom
      @stillgotyourmom 10 місяців тому

      1st they banned leg grabbing 2010 and since then Riner only wins before he lost too. 2nd Ishii also threw him while Riner landed on his belly when Riner threw Ishii landed on his arse not propperly on his back. It should be on the back clearly for ippon and Teddy won a lot that was wazari or turned further wazaris which is total BS. Theres ground fight for Judo so they should let it count. Judo was a real beautiful sport that got ruined totally!

    個人的に西洋の審判は「背中が付いたかどうか」を重視する傾向があると感じるので、
    judoの舞台、リネールがポイントとなってもおかしくないなと感じる。
    ちょっと篠原ドゥイエと似てるパターン。
    だが人種が逆で井上がドゥイエ、リネールが篠原のパターン。

    he's right. Teddy rinner may have won many world title's but he's judo skill isnt that good he's advantage is size over opponents and his strong grips. Inoue was very unfortunate to lose this match it wasnt supossed to be a score because he landed on his butt first.

    • @ahreaper
      @ahreaper 7 років тому +2

      I completely agree. Riner recently did the same thing to Harasawa in the Rio olympics. He used his power and size to maintain strong grips on Harasawa and didnt let him attack. There was a good reason why the audience boo'd him after the fight. He is no legend, just a guy with more power and a decent judoka at best. ( and no Im not trying to pull him down to make myself feel better. If he were truly good, I would have acknowledged it without any hesitation). The score however was there because Inoue landed on his back in continous motion.

      You guys are wrong. In this fight he was worse in technique than inoue, BUT he just turned 18 years!
      Heavy weight category is a catestrophy full of fat unhealthy sumo fighters with bad technique.
      Riner however, won 98 fights in a row, with many different techniques (bet you guys cant even name 5 of them), against much heavier fat opponents and most of them with ippon.
      Harasawa fought terribly in Rio against him, he just went to floor on purpose, taking shidos to avoid getting thrown. Riner was the aggressor nearly all the time, even when leading (except this one time grip avoiding)
