Traded my 320d for an octavia 2014 150hp diesel 4 years ago. Chipped it to 190hp / 420nm, and drive it purely on the torque. shift lazy car, which goes when it needs to and I get 20km/L mileage. Haven't missed a single beat and is realy cheap to run, has all the luxury you need. Simply a clever car.
Forgot to mention the independent rear suspension on this engine class and the 2.0 Tdi 184. It does ride very well over bad surfaces and I've added some sound proofing in the trunk and door cards.
@@bresek874 Depends on the foot. Outside the city with 65kph average and just chill driving I got 5.5-6L with only driver in car. With 4 people and luggages I get 6.5-7L, again, with chill driving. With spirited driving you go up to about 7 with driver only and 7.5-8 with people in the car. In city, I get a big range, depending on traffic, outside temperature, style of driving. I see a range of 7-8L in good conditions (little trafic, spring) to 10L (moderate traffic, winter) and 12-14 when it is super crowded and you are better off walking. The fuel consumption is decent, 1L higher than the 2L TDI 184HP on average from what I understood with a nicer engine sound and trouble free driving in city (no dpf, no adblue, no regeneration and stuff). Plus, this engine is very silent, quite a bit more silent than the 1.4 that I also drove, because 1.8 also has MPI injection besides direct injection. Performance wise, you do feel you have more horses than the 1.4 BUT because Skoda has decided to limit it to the same 250NM as the 1.4, the get go performance (that is, under 4000RPM) isn't a whole lot better. Still, with a tune you can unleash this engine to a potential that isn't possible neither with the diesel or with the 1.4. Stock components, it can do 230-240 horses and 340-360NM. If you swap the turbo with the IS38, which is plug and play by the way you can go to 300HP. The biggest issue then is traction. Even with these 180 horses and only 250NM stock, it does spin the wheels if the road surface isn't dry or very good. So I do plan a moderate tune for this summer to about 220HP and 350NM.
@@RallyVozac nope, not yet. Still zippy enough. Had a red light drag race with a 530d (guess it was the 2007 ish model, he had a straight pipe cause the exhaust sound was loud from him). No problem keeping up with him and going in front of him. We went till 130kph. More than happy with the performance and i had 2 male passengers in the car.
Got 2018 Octavia Combi for a very good price couple of months ago. The only thing i would wish for really is a 2.0 TDI instead of the 1.6l i have. For day to day drive it's enough i guess and fuel consumption is good as well. But 110kw is just something to make your heart pump a bit faster. Nothing very fast of course, but for someone who's not buying a race car, it's pretty quick and jumpy. Great cars tho, it's a pleasure to drive one!
Top video, didn't expect nothing less from you! Please include one acceleration in gear and shift at 3800. For example start at 50kmh in third and shift every gear at 3800rpm.

This car is conservative, elegant and timeless... Personally, I would buy one of these. I find it pointless that cars are becoming more and more luxurious, flashy and overly complicated.
Reasonably. It also depends on the care you give to it. Generally said, the 2.0 tdi engine is most reliable in the highest power specification, you get better automatic transmission and I think also better rear suspension. Mind that this is more of cost effective car, not a fun to drive car.

with my freind we tried acceleration of Octavia mk2 RS TDI 125kW vs this octavia mk3 with 110kW .... to the 100 on the 3rd gear it was the same, absolutly same accel. but then those 15kW started talk and I was able to become more distant :) this is really good engine with great consuption ... with my RS i am not able to get over 6l / 100 km ... of course, if I drive like a formula driver, there could be around 8,5-9 l/100km, but this is not sustainable to have this car for a long time :) ...
